Shaquille O’Neal is sneaking up on the shoe business.
“I would love to buy Reebok,” O’Neal said Thursday in an interview with “CNBC Make It.”
The retired basketball star’s résumé is already quite extensive: actor, rapper, sports analyst, investor and Papa John’s board member. He’s even dabbled in fashion with Peerless Clothing’s Shaquille O’Neal Collection and his XLG men’s clothing line at J.C. Penney.
But perhaps O’Neal’s recent comments were just him feeling nostalgic. He does have a history with Reebok, after all. Back in 1992, O’Neal — and his size 20 feet — were signed to endorse Reebok’s “Shaq Attaq.”
O’Neal in 1996 on the court.
Still, O’Neal’s basketball stardom made the blue, black and white high-tops, the colors of his team at the time, the Orlando Magic, an instant hit. You see, back then both Reebok and O’Neal were at the top of their game. Then Adidas came along and courted Reebok, acquiring the company for $ 3.8 billion, and positioning itself to compete with rival Nike.
That was a move that O’Neal said “diluted [Reebok] so much to where it’s almost gone.
“I want to bring them back to basketball and to fitness,” he added.
But the shopping spree might be short-lived.
In keeping with the brand’s plan to create closer synergies between the women’s and men’s lines, Etro women’s wear creative director Veronica Etro infused her resort collection with a desert, adventurous theme, which also stood out in the men’s lineup unveiled by her brother Kean during Milan Men’s Fashion Week.
But Veronica Etro did things her way, combining a bohemian, free-spirited vibe, infused with Seventies references, with a cool, urban preppy attitude and a boyish feel.
Mainly playing with a color palette of neutral tones mixed with charming, yet never too sweet pastels and introducing easy fabrics, such as cotton, she found a new sense of lightness, which felt refreshing. Finding a balance between constructions and embellishments, she matched essential shapes with richer patterns and played with more sophisticated proportions with solids or more neutral prints.
While dresses featured roomy sleeves and plissé details, jacquard suits with mannish blazers and cropped pants revealed a tomboy feel. Beautiful cardigans revealed patchworks of patterns echoing the heritage of desert tribes, which also peppered the inserts of a cool striped hooded shirt jacket.

When Christian Louboutin was growing up in Paris, heels were not allowed at the Palais de la Porte Dorée, an Art Deco gem dedicated to African and Asian arts.
Sweet revenge comes in February 2020, when the museum, whose partial restoration was funded by the luxury shoemaker, will house an exhibition devoted to Louboutin’s creativity and his diverse aesthetic passions.
“It’s an open window to my brain,” was how Louboutin summed up the vast showcase, where more than 200 pairs of shoes will be sprinkled among an eclectic mix of art works, furnishings, installations, performance pieces and some fashion items, including crosses and crowns. “The heel is back in the museum in full force, only it’s not only an exhibition of high heels. We have flat shoes, too.”
The delicate mosaics and parquet floors are what compelled the museum to ban spindly footwear back in the day. And its ornamental splendor is what sparked Louboutin’s passion for decorative arts, which would become a key source of inspiration for the future designer.
In an interview on Thursday, Louboutin recalled being awed by the tall doors sheltering one of the museum’s sumptuous salons, its door handles made of jutting horns that evoked the wonder of Africa.

Newsday calls this "a beautifully made movie in any genre…it is well paced, suspenseful, brilliantly acted and directed with flair," and Variety calls it "a nail-biting suspense pic, handsomely produced and inventively directed."

This concert film has been meticulously restored from the original masters, and the audio remixed and remastered from the live multitrack recordings.

Whether you’re heading out on a long bike ride or lounging by the pool, no outdoor summer activity is complete without a good pair of shades. And if you’ve been toting around the same frames for years—or your good pair went overboard at the lake last season—now’s the perfect time to upgrade. Brands are rolling out their newest spring and summer sunglasses, so you have plenty of great options to choose from.
Although they fall into the “accessory” category, a good pair of frames is really an essential. They can make or break an outfit, says Courtney Mays, stylist for NBA player Kevin Love.
“Sunglasses are the final touch to complete a look,” she says. “They add that instant cool factor, even if you’re in sweats.”
When picking out a new pair, focus on fit, shape, and style, Mays advises. Look for frames that fit your head well (and stay put when you wear them), and opt for a shape and style that matches your wardrobe and personality. The best way to determine what works is to visit a store and try on frames, she says. Once you find a shape you like, you can experiment with different materials and colors.
Already have a pair of shades in your drawer? Add to your collection by branching out into new styles.
“Go for a color, lens, or metal you wouldn’t normally choose,” Mays says.
We perused recent releases and put together this collection of our favorite new men’s sunglasses. From ultralight, sporty shades to updates on classic frames, there’s something here for every occasion—and every guy.

Rebecca Taylor is teaming with The Surf Lodge, the hotel and restaurant, in Montauk. Taylor will outfit the front of house staff for the 2019 season.
The designer has created two silhouettes in the Kamea Fleur print, inspired by The Surf Lodge’s coastal theme and a vintage Hawaiian floral print. There are eight women who work at the hotel’s front desk and are restaurant hostesses, who will wear the two dresses throughout the summer.
One of the Rebecca Taylor dresses for the Surf Lodge front-of-house staff.
The brand is also partnering with The Surf Lodge on pop-ups this summer, according to Janice Sullivan, president of Rebecca Taylor.
“We have a strong customer base who is in Montauk during the summer months, and we are looking forward to offering her the brand in a new environment where she can take part in fun activations,” said Sullivan. The first pop-up will be this Saturday and Sunday.
Pringle’s new men’s design director Giuseppe Marretta made waves with his first collection for the brand, which he raced to pull together after joining the company at the start of April. He took as his theme David Hockney’s painting, “A Bigger Splash,” and drove the collection in a whole new direction.
Formerly head of knitwear and jersey at Giorgio Armani, Marretta took a fresh look at Pringle’s offer, sending out a more graphic, modern argyle pattern, reversible cashmere knits, quilted wovens, printed organza, laser-print denim and sweaters that blended hand-knitting with technical yarns.
Even the Paris showroom setup was different: Meant to mimic Hockney’s painting, there were palm tree murals on the walls, a swimming pool design on the floor, and even a Perspex diving board that doubled as a display table.
“I wanted to bring some fun back to men’s wear, with key items from British culture and a fusion of sports and art. The young David Hockney was an inspiring artist and a style icon,” he said during a walk-through.
Denim and knits alike looked as if it they had been bleached, but they were not. Instead, Marretta used laser printing to create abstract images of a swimming pool surface on denim jeans
Could San Francisco become a fashion capital?
It’s not a media hub like New York or a manufacturing center like L.A., but it is a hotbed of fashion disruptors following historic blue jeans maker Levi Strauss & Co. and casual Friday pioneer Gap in changing the way people dress and shop.
What sets many of San Francisco’s fashion brands apart is that they are direct-to-consumer, mission-driven and digitally enabled from inception to tackle industry challenges, including sizing and transparency. Many are also led by female chief executive officers or creative directors designing into a polished, functional aesthetic that’s resonating in this new feminist era.
Now that these start-ups are coming of age (and setting $ 1 billion-plus public offerings), they are attracting more talent, including designers, stylists and editorial directors, and a new creative class is starting to emerge in San Francisco.
Everlane has ambitions to be the next Gap, only with a transparent supply chain. ThirdLove, the size-inclusive, female-first lingerie maker, is taking on Victoria’s Secret. Cuyana is selling attainable luxury ready-to-wear and leather goods with the mantra “fewer, better things.” Meanwhile, fashion-tech brands Stitch Fix and online resale giant The RealReal are reshaping the shopping experience.
“We’re not a fashion-forward city, but that’s OK.

Ray Charles was one of the true pioneers of soul music. Born in Georgia in 1930 he was one of the first performers to mix gospel, R & B and jazz to create a new form of black pop music that would come to be known as soul. His voice and delivery were strikingly different and instantly recognizable. He had his first hits in the early 50's and was still hitting the charts into the 21st century. His death in June 2004 from liver disease was front-page news around the world. This concert was filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 19, 1997 and features Ray Charles and his orchestra, led by sax player Al Jackson, and of course The Raelettes. The set includes many of his most popular tracks such as Shadows Of My Mind, Georgia On My Mind, and the No.1 hit I Can't Stop Loving You.

Meeting him was fate, but falling for him was inevitable. And forgetting him will be impossible. **This is a complete STANDALONE novel — filled with plenty of humor, steam, & romance! 18 & up only due to explicit sexual content, language, and adult content.**

For his first collaboration with another brand, New York swimwear designer George Sotelo of Thorsun scored the crème de la crème: Charvet, perhaps the world’s most famous and storied maker of high-end shirts and ties, and a French national treasure that has occupied the same corner of Place Vendôme since 1838.
Their first effort is a capsule collection of swim trunks in four archival Charvet neckwear prints for spring 2020, which are to be unveiled to the trade in Paris on June 24 and 25.
The project represents a leap into a new luxury strata for Sotelo, who founded his brand in 2014, and a carefully considered step back into resort wear for siblings Jean-Claude and Anne-Marie Colban, keepers of Charvet’s luxury legacy.
Sotelo first met the Colbans 15 years ago, when he treated himself to a custom shirt. He became hooked, and a friendship blossomed. Then two years ago, Jean-Claude shared an article from Vanity Fair in the Twenties about businessmen who morphed into “peacocks in the sand,” donning flamboyantly printed Charvet robes in Palm Beach. Could a new era of seaside boldness be at hand?
The Colbans agreed to do something together — on their perfectionist terms, an experience Sotelo relished as
Where to find respite from a tech-driven society? By escaping into nature, or at least looking at pictures of it, according to Japanese designer Fumito Ganryu.
For his third standalone collection, the former Comme des Garçons designer looked at National Geographic magazine, Instagram and large-scale pictures taken by drones to create his landscape prints.
“At first my theme was architecture, but that led me to thinking, what is the new garment construction today?” said the designer backstage. “I love pictures of landscapes and the freedom they inspire, so I wanted to merge that freedom with a new way of coordinating garments, stepping away from classical codes. It’s no longer this form with that, this color with another, but rather about creating a coherent story instead: Sky prints on the top, earth prints on the bottom.”
Blues and greens dominated the first part of the show: Raindrops, glaciers, starry nights and cerulean skies were printed via inkjet on polyester shirts, tops and bomber jackets, while a technical raincoat featured vibrant leaf and grass prints.
Accessories were a strong point: models wore low-brimmed bucket hats with PVC visors by Japanese milliner Akio Hirata, while shoes were either technical sneakers created in collaboration with Salomon or easy

Given the runaway success of Grease, which became the biggest-grossing movie musical of all time, it was all but inevitable that there would be a sequel, and four years later this follow-up brought a new group of kids back to Rydell High. It's 1961, and Stephanie Zinone (Michelle Pfeiffer) is the tough leader of the Pink Ladies, while Michael Carrington (Maxwell Caulfield) is a clean-cut British exchange student. Michael likes Stephanie, but the Pink Ladies' by-laws prevent her from dating guys who aren't members of the T-Birds, their affiliated male gang. However, when a Zorro-like masked avenger on a motorcycle rescues Stephanie from a gang of ill-mannered toughs, she's eager to get to know the hero with the cool wheels. Any guesses as to who he might be? Eve Arden, Sid Caesar, and Dody Goodman return from the first film as members of the Rydell High faculty, while actual '50s teen icons Tab Hunter and Connie Stevens are on board as new members of the staff; Didi Conn as Frenchy is the only one of the students to appear in both movies. Patricia Birch, who served as choreographer on Grease, made her debut as a director on Grease 2.

“Morgan Rice's imagination is limitless. In another series that promises to be as entertaining as the previous ones, A THRONE OF SISTERS presents us with the tale of two sisters (Sophia and Kate), orphans, fighting to survive in a cruel and demanding world of an orphanage. An instant success. I can hardly wait to put my hands on the second and third books!” –Books and Movie Reviews (Roberto Mattos) From #1 Bestseller Morgan Rice comes an unforgettable new fantasy series.  In A THRONE FOR SISTERS (Book one), Sophia, 17, and her younger sister Kate, 15, are desperate to leave their horrific orphanage. Orphans, unwanted and unloved, they nonetheless dream of coming of age elsewhere, of finding a better life, even if that means living on the streets of the brutal city of Ashton.  Sophia and Kate, also best friends, have each other’s backs—and yet they want different things from life. Sophia, a romantic, more elegant, dreams of entering court and finding a noble to fall in love with. Kate, a fighter, dreams of mastering the sword, of battling dragons, and becoming a warrior. They are both united, though, by their secret, paranormal power to read other’s minds, their only saving grace in a world that seems bent to destroy them. As they each embark on a quest and adventure their own ways, they struggle to survive. Faced with choices neither can imagine, their choices may propel them to the highest power—or plunge them to the lowest depths. A THRONE FOR SISTERS is the first book in a dazzling new fantasy series rife with love, heartbreak, tragedy, action, magic, sorcery, fate and heart-pounding suspense. A page turner, it is filled with characters that will make you fall in love, and a world you will never forget.  Book #2—A COURT FOR THIEVES—is also now available! “[A THRONE FOR SISTERS is a] powerful opener to a series [that] will produce a combination of feisty protagonists and challenging circumstances to thoroughly involve not just young adults, but adult fantasy fans who seek epic stories fueled by powerful friendships and adversaries.” –Midwest Book Review (Diane Donovan)

The Divine Comedy (Italian: Divina Commedia) is an epic poem written by Dante Alighieri between c. 1308 and his death in 1321. It is widely considered the preeminent work of Italian literature, and is seen as one of the greatest works of world literature. The poem's imaginative and allegorical vision of the afterlife is a culmination of the medieval world-view as it had developed in the Western Church. It helped establish the Tuscan dialect, in which it is written, as the standardized Italian language. It is divided into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. On the surface, the poem describes Dante's travels through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven; but at a deeper level, it represents allegorically the soul's journey towards God. At this deeper level, Dante draws on medieval Christian theology and philosophy, especially Thomistic philosophy and the Summa Theologica of Thomas Aquinas. Consequently, the Divine Comedy has been called "the Summa in verse". The work was originally simply titled Comedìa and was later christened Divina by Giovanni Boccaccio. The first printed edition to add the word divine to the title was that of the Venetian humanist Lodovico Dolce, published in 1555 by Gabriele Giolito de' Ferrari.
