SYDNEY — At the halfway point of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, the duchess momentarily hit the pause button — leaving Prince Harry to fly solo for several engagements on Sunday and Monday, citing his wife’s fatigue as she juggles their hectic schedule with the first trimester of her pregnancy.
The duchess isn’t the only one catching her breath.
A number of Australian designers are still reeling from the “Meghan effect,” after she showcased as many as five local labels in her tour wardrobe last week, alongside international brands such as Brandon Maxwell, Jason Wu, Roksanda Ilincic, Stuart Weitzman, Manolo Blahnik, Gucci and Birks.
On Saturday, the duchess wore a black coat dress by London-based New Zealander Emilia Wickstead, to lay a wreath at the ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park. She then changed into a white Altuzarra jacket, black Mother Denim jeans and black Invictus Games-branded shirt, to watch the first competition of Prince Harry’s international sporting competition — in which 500 injured military veterans from 18 countries will compete this week in Sydney.
For the Games opening ceremony on Saturday evening, she changed into a navy Stella McCartney dress and matching coat by Gillian Anderson

SYDNEY — Ermenegildo Zegna will unveil its first dedicated beachwear collection in Australia on Dec. 8, ahead of a global release in early 2018.
Designed by Ermenegildo Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori, the debut collection is comprised of 67 stockkeeping units including boxer shorts, tailored swim trunks, polo and boat-neck shirts and beach accessories such as towels and beach totes.
Prices range from 90 Australian dollars, or $ 68 at current exchange, for a basic fly front trunk to 470 Australian dollars, or $ 357, for a pair of tailored trunks — which incorporate a dedicated waterproof pochette for keys or money — and reach 925 Australian dollars, or $ 703, for a striped beach tote. There are three different towels in the collection, priced from 285 to 455 Australian dollars, or $ 217 to $ 346.
The collection will be available exclusively through Ermenegildo Zegna’s three Australian flagships in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and Zegna’s Australian online store.
The early release in the Australian market was designed to capitalize on the holiday season and southern hemisphere summer, which kicks off on Dec. 1, the company said.
Produced by the Carisma Group’s textile and fashion manufacturer Isa Seta SpA in Milan, which also makes Zegna’s underwear, the collection utilizes lightweight technical fabrics
Melbourne-based sunglass brand Quay Australia, whose collaboration with Kylie Jenner launched over the summer, has opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Orange County, Calif.’s Brea Mall.
“We decided to open our first shop in California because it’s a sunny state and one of our largest markets. California is also where Quay Australia first planted roots in the United States,” said general manager Joanna Scully. The brand started marketing itself on the music festival circuit in Austalia 10 years ago and has recently amassed a following among U.S. influencers such as Jasmine Sanders and Jenner, who are both based in Los Angeles and have collaborated on oversized styles with the brand. The past summer Quay Australia also exhibited at the WWDMAGIC show in Las Vegas.
The first shop is an interactive and dynamic destination that invites customers to try on the entire assortment, more than 150 styles for women and men, that pops against the clean white canvas of the space. With weekly product launches, the ability to swap out the styles easily was necessary, hence the modular fixtures. There are also neon signs with the tag line “Stay Shady” adorning the walls, as well as colorful dichromatic selfie mirrors and messaging on
(AllHipHop News) Apparently some rap fans down under were not pleased with the performance of American artist Childish Gambino. The Atlanta native was in Australia to perform at The Cambridge Hotel, and according to reports the “3005” creator was heckled and booed by audience members.
The Herald reports concert goers were demanding a refund after Gambino (aka Donald Glover) barely performed any of his songs. Instead, he was said to have stayed behind the DJ booth for nearly an hour as a group named Royalty performed for the bulk of the time.
Gambino finally took the microphone around 40 minutes into the show, but his set ended with audience members chanting obscenities.
The Cambridge Hotel issued the following statement on Facebook:
To everyone who came to see Childish Gambino show last night we are as disappointed as all of you.
We had the opportunity to present Childish Gambino to Newcastle in an intimate gig and we jumped at the chance as we aim to bring the best possible acts to Newcastle for music lovers. As seen last night, unfortunately we have no control over the acts performance once on stage.
For those that aren’t aware, Canberra and ourselves were 2 additional Childish Gambino shows that were promoted in the exact same way as part of his current tour and we were extremely excited to be presented with this opportunity. Subsequently he didn’t deliver on what was billed and expected by everyone, including us.
The Cambridge strives to deliver Newcastle the highest quality live music possible and we will continue to do so.
Like you, we were equally excited to present the act and its only matched by the disappointment in the performance by the act.
Big Apachee event promoter Marcus Wright told the Guardian Australia Gambino was expected to perform a full show. He stated, “as per the contract that we have signed, honored and paid for. There are no words in the contract about a DJ set.”
Gambino has canceled a performance at Canberra’s Academy Club for today (September 2). He is still scheduled to appear at festivals in Sydney and Brisbane over the weekend.
Chris Brown was denied entrance into Australia and New Zealand, meaning he won’t be able to tour the country as scheduled in December. An Australian immigration official told the Telegraph that Breezy’s visa request was turned down because of his past record of domestic violence. The decision came after a petition calling for him to be denied entry was set up by a women’s rights group.

CYBER CLOSET HEADS DOWN UNDER: Garde Robe, the luxury clothing storage and valet service with locations in New York, California and Nevada, is expanding its international reach to Australia with new locations in Melbourne and Sydney through a partnership with IAS Fine Art Logistics.
For the uninitiated, Garde Robe specializes in the preservation and storage of textiles and offers a “Cyber Closet” delivery service for its clientele — which includes designers, who use it to protect and manage their archival collections, as well as celebrities, couture collectors and socialites — for $ 350 per month. “When we first started, people thought this service was just for New Yorkers [who] don’t have enough closet space,” said vice president and co-owner Doug Greenberg. “But most of our clients have multiple residences anyway. It’s more about the [monetary] value of the clothes that they own and also the sentimental value. Some clients have so much clothing that they need someone to help them manage it, just like you would if you were a collector of art.”
The decision to expand to Australia — home to a burgeoning fashion industry — came about rather practically; Greenberg said the combination of apartment and coastal living there creates a
