Calvin Harris Is Not Pleased With All Those ‘Happy Ending’ Breakup Rumors

Calvin Harris certainly knows how to quash a rumor.

After buzz of their alleged breakup went viral on Monday, Harris turned to Twitter to attempt to put rumors to rest:

And if you want Swift’s take on all of this, she favorited his tweet, which is probably the most we’ll hear from her on the issue.

3 Words To Keep In Mind After A Breakup

Different people have different reactions to getting dumped. Some retreat into themselves and need to be alone, others act unaffected and throw themselves into all things social. No matter the initial reaction, at the heart of it all is the universal sting you can’t help but feel when experiencing rejection from someone you cared about.

This rejection sparks a distinct emotional pain, but Dr. Phil McGraw once offered an “Oprah Show” audience some timeless advice that can help anyone going through a breakup. As he said back then, remembering three little words can make a big difference in helping you move on.

Don’t personalize rejection,” Dr. Phil says. “People get rejected and they say, ‘Well, that means there must be something wrong with me.’ It doesn’t mean any such a thing!”

Instead, he continues, the issue is likely something rooted within your ex, something far beyond your control.

“Oftentimes, the flaw is in the other person,” Dr. Phil says. “You hear about people with an inability to commit, or they’ve just got immaturity, or they’ve got other fish to fry in their life and it’s just not the right time… Haven’t you been with people that were just wonderful, but they just weren’t right with you?”

If you’re unable to stop personalizing rejection, it can spill over into your future relationships in a very negative way. “You’re dragging all that baggage with you. You gotta get past that,” Dr. Phil says. “Don’t make them pay for sins — real or imagined — that [a past partner] committed… Start fresh. Give yourself a break.”

More advice from Dr. Phil: How to keep away from your ex — for good.

The One Thing You Need to Get Over a Painful Breakup

Breakups can be agonizing. You miss your ex, you feel lonely, being single is a significant change, and you’re feeling bitter, angry, and hopeless in relationships. A breakup is a loss and it can be devastating.

I’ve had my share of difficult breakups for sure. When I was inexperienced in heartbreaks, I handled them horribly — indulged in vices, became preoccupied with my ex, and hoped for (a next to impossible) reconciliation. After realizing I was losing a lot of my time to someone who didn’t want anything to do with me, I eventually was able to find the freedom and beauty in moving on. Which led me to the golden rule of healing: Focus on yourself! This is the one thing you need for a healthy recovery.

In love and life, you can’t breakup with yourself, so your best investment of time will always be you. Take all of the attention, time and interest devoted to your ex and bring it back home to you. This can be an emotionally vulnerable time and you must nurture yourself until you are feeling stronger again. (You are likely to end up feeling even stronger than before!)

I like to think of the healing process as cocooning and emerging as a butterfly! Here are some suggestions to get you through:

Improve your health. Taking care of your bod can give you better energy, think clearer, boost mood, relieve stress and many other benefits. Some ways of accomplishing that include getting more sleep, developing your exercise habits, and eating natural foods.

Redecorate your home or bedroom. Make it yours! Out with the old and in with the new. Purging feels great — so do that too! Get familiar with donating items to charity, or selling at pawn shops, eBay, consignment and Craigslist. I have black-or-white rules in the “breakup purge” process and it goes like this:

Items belonging to the ex: donate or sell.
Gifts from the ex: donate or sell.
That sweater you wore on your first date that always reminds you of him/her: donate or sell.

This concept takes the emotion out of the object, and makes space for better things (and relationships) to come your way.

Learn something new to enrich your life. Take a class, begin a new hobby or explore something you’ve always been interested in. When I was diet coaching, my most successful clients kept themselves busy to avoid their fixations. The short-term goal is distraction to take your mind off of things. The benefit of having a constructive distraction is that you are able to cultivate your personal growth in the long term, helping you become stronger, smarter and happier.

Nurture other relationships. Your boyfriend wasn’t the only relationship in your life. Maybe you’re not feeling successful with that particular relationship but think of how many successful relationships you do have or could have. Reap what you sow: develop the positive relationships and you will attract more positive relationships!

Career. I live in New York City and this is pretty much the go-to diversion. When a relationship ends, people tend to find themselves with more time or concentration to develop their careers, find new jobs, change industries, start businesses and more!

10 Things To Remember When You’re Going Through A Breakup, Because Your Brain Is Super Foggy And Now Is Not The Time To Trust Your Own Thoughts | Bustle

I’m not sure there’s a word in the English language that accurately describes the sadness after a breakup. Grief, the feeling reserved most commonly for death, is part of it. So, too, is suffering. Agony, remorse, self-doubt. Breakups are traumatic. They are, of course, heart-breaking. They will make you reevaluate everything you think you know, and force you into new thoughts and experiences that are often incredibly distressing. But there is also a silver lining in every breakup.

A Holistic Approach to Beating Breakup Blues

With a business all about breakups and moving on, I meet a lot of people who have different perspectives on how to heal heartbreak, and are full of different tips and tricks to help you get back to fabulous. Recently I met the incredible Susan Ciminelli, a world renowned holistic health guru, who specializes in lifestyle coaching, massage, lymphatic drainage, reflexology, reiki, nutrition and skincare. You may recognize her name, as she has treated a whole host of A-listers including Jennifer Lopez, Kate Moss, Tina Fey & Shakira. She was full of advice to help you move on – all of it very practical and I’m a big fan of the practical! Part of my inspiration to start my business Never Liked It Anyway, was to create a place which was all about taking affirmative action rather than laying around listening to metaphors and useless clichés. In times of heartbreak, you want an action plan!! So here it is, Susan’s 5 tips to help beat the breakup blues.

1. Power Up
Your immune system takes a beating after a breakup. So while you may have a desire to reach for the ice-cream and chocolate, eating healthy matters more than ever. Ciminelli says “If you are a junk food junkie, you will feel terrible. Junk food just brings you down, and attributes to weight gain, self loathing, mood swings, irritability, and of course breakouts”. During a breakup, you don’t need any more of those sorts of things happening. Ciminelli recommends avoiding sugary foods and load up on fruits that have a low glycemic index like raspberries, blueberries, apples and pears.

2. Get A Routine
Ciminelli is an expert of skincare, so naturally, she speaks of skincare routines. However, what you choose to create a routine around is up to you. The point is, it sends a message to yourself that you value and respect yourself. Ciminelli says “When you have discipline in your life and you care for yourself, even just doing a wonderful, naturally fragrant, stimulating skin care routine, you feel better about yourself. Not to mention, when you look good it is easier to feel good.” Challenge yourself to start a routine, just for you. It could be skincare, exercise, lunch with a mentor or meditation.

3. Surround Yourself With Good people
Now, more than ever you need to be reminded of the good in the world and the love of people. Don’t go it alone! Invite your friends round and share a cup of tea. Ciminelli suggests fragrant chamomile tea with thick, natural honey and fresh mint added to help lift your spirits high. Make sure to keep the conversation positive and future focused rather than make it feel hopeless and depressing. And definitely no man bashing!

4. Get Outside
Fight the temptation to stay indoors with a blanket over your head and get out of the house. Not only will this get your blood moving and endorphins going, it will refresh your perspective and help rebalance your hormones. “When you experience heartache, your brain is releasing hormones that are destructive for your health and well being. Increasing your own serotonin levels by exposure to light, preferably sunlight whenever possible helps tremendously”. Ciminelli says. So step out of the house and into the sunshine wherever you can.

5. See The Bigger Picture.
Ciminelli’s treatments encompass skincare, reflexology, nutrition and healing. Seeing the totality of your pain, and treating it from as many ways in as possible will help get you further, faster. There is no silver bullet unfortunately. But taking the time to give your body what you need across all dimensions will help. Ciminelli says “I encourage people to get reflexology, Swedish massage, aromatherapy lymphatic drainage massage and seaweed body wraps to lighten the mood and bring harmony to body, mind and soul.” Try out new things, and try things that may feel new and different to you. They’ll open your mind to new possibilities; and new is just what you need right now.

Everyone goes through breakups, but learning how to deal with your feelings and find closure can help you get over your split in a healthy, productive way. Here are some tips for surviving your breakup and moving on from your relationship:

  • Establish a support network of close friends and anyone else who will remain quiet about having to shoulder the burden of your emotional crises.
  • Quickly and decisively invest in a fish or a plant or something.

Why One Direction’s Breakup Is Unlike Any Other

One Direction

For One Direction fans, the first half of this year has been a particularly trying time. Zayn Malik, one of the band’s founding and most popular members, announced he was leaving the group to embark on a solo career, only a few weeks after he told fans that he was abandoning the tour because of stress.

And while the four remaining members—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne—are continuing their world tour and working on a fifth album, fans have been distracted by the group’s social media mud-slinging. It’s a unique part of being an enthusiastic pop music fan in 2015—not only are you watching your favorite band fall apart in real time, you’re being somewhat forced into publicly taking sides.

Post-breakup beefs that were previously confined to gossip reports and carefully controlled interviews are now regularly appearing on social media. And fans—who have helped build these pop stars’ careers on Twitter and Instagram—now feel obligated to weigh in on which side they think is “winning” with hashtags and retweets.

When Geri Halliwell left the Spice Girls in 1998, there was no social media to speak of. Her end with the band was marked by a flurry of U.K. tabloid reports about bad blood between the girls, but it was mostly just rumors. Years later, the Spice Girls joke about it on TV and say that none of it ever happened.

Now, however, bands (and fans) have to deal with very public battles in a very public forum. On Wednesday, One Direction member Tomlinson responded to a thinly veiled dig from Malik’s producer, Naughty Boy. Malik fired back with a cutting message.

Fans responded swiftly, backing Tomlinson and making #TOMLINSONSLAYSAGAIN the number one worldwide trending topic on Twitter.

Similarly, at the end of March, the hashtag “#SuspendNaughtyBoy” was gaining traction after the producer released a demo version of a track that he and Malik had made together.

Noel Gallagher, the former Oasis guitarist, recently called Malik an “idiot” for leaving One Direction. “It’s a strange thing for that lad to have done at that age,” he told Rolling Stone. “The greatest quote was—I laughed out loud when I read it—‘I just want to be a normal 22-year-old.’ Pfft. Who wants to be a normal 22-year-old?!”

While Gallagher certainly knows a thing or two about a public band breakup, it’s decidedly different for Malik. While he may never be able to be a “normal 22-year-old,” it’s also impossible for him to leave the most popular boy band without pissing off a few million followers.

Surviving the Raw Emotions of a Fresh Breakup

A few years ago, my young son fell and cut his knee, and we ended up at the emergency room where he got some stitches. His wound was raw at first, and needed to be kept clean and dry. It was red and puffy and swollen, and as he described it, “thumping.”

For some reason, this is the comparison that comes to mind when I think about how I’m feeling in the first days following my recent long term relationship breakup. It’s fresh. It just happened. It’s raw. It’s trauma. It’s sensitive. Bleeding. Hurting. The “thumping,” a constant reminder that it’s there. And, it’s not even close to being healed.

Here are some of those raw emotions that most people feel at the beginning of a breakup.

1. Shock: In any long term relationship or marriage, I don’t believe a breakup happens suddenly. (Unless one of the people met someone else and is leaving for that reason.) But even then, it is only sudden for one of the people. Usually, the couple has known for a while that the break up could be coming, but even so, there is a certain feeling of shock, of waking up every morning realizing that this isn’t a dream. Walking around feeling like you’re forgetting something, like you left the house without something you need. Something feels like it’s missing. It doesn’t feel normal. For me, the missing piece is his heart. I don’t have it anymore. That is gut-wrenching.

2. Sadness: You run into people and they ask, “What’s new?” and tears spring to your eyes. It is very hard to get through a conversation, hearing your own voice say the words, “We broke up.” Crying on a daily basis becomes the norm.

3. Urgency/desperation: There are moments it feels hard to breathe, and the only thing you want to do is call him or her, beg them to come over and hug you, and never let you go. It feels frighteningly desperate, almost panicky.

4. Confusion: In my situation, if someone asked me, “Why did you guys break up?” I honestly don’t know what I would say right now. A number of reasons? Yes, but there is no clarity yet. Right now I feel unsure of what really went wrong. It seems foggy. But, I am sure that as time goes by, clarity will come.

5. Anger: I truly believe that in every relationship, people look back and recognize certain things that happened that cause resentment. If there is any communication between the two people, one or both of the them try to let the other person know how wonderful they are doing, and how they are changing so much for the better. My question is, “Why couldn’t you change that for me?” It’s a bit infuriating for me to think that the next girl will reap the benefits of things he learned from our relationship. Then again, my next guy might benefit from the same.

6. Honesty: It’s so hard to do, because there is still so much love here, but being apart forces people (or I should say allows them) to take an honest look into the relationship and acknowledge the things that weren’t working as they were. It is impossible to do that while you are still together.

7. Hope: For me, there is a very small piece of hope and even excitement about the future. At this moment, it is tiny, but it is there. It’s a glimpse into the promise of a future with someone whose love is strong enough to last forever.

The bottom line is, the raw feelings of a breakup are extremely complicated. The mind and the heart are all over the place. Remembering the heart stopping moments, the smiles, the passion, even the smell of his skin is heartbreakingly sad. And comforting at the same time. It’s funny how the mind tends to temporarily forget all the disappointments, arguments, and impasses that led to the breakup.

My breakup advice: Let yourself feel all of these feelings. Live day to day, trying to grab every ounce of enjoyment out of every day that you can. For me, that means anything having to do with my children and my family, and of course, enjoying the passion I have for my work. This is the way I’ve been living my life since my divorce, and it works.

Breakups are part of life. They are out of our control. And no breakup is good. But, how we choose to handle them is entirely in our power.

How to Forget Your Ex After a Painful Breakup – Get Over Him Or Her

When a relation breaks, everything else seems falling apart. Your entire life stops at a point and it looks like nothing is positive. But give yourself a break! Breaking of relationship is not a big deal. What more important is how to forget your ex boyfriend or girlfriend or your ex-wife or ex-husband to move on for a better life.

10 Bad Excuses for Considering a Breakup

There are many circumstances where breaking up can be a good thing for both people involved, but there are also many bad excuses that can lead to a breakup. These excuses are often the result of a hasty emotional reaction, fear of the future, or an impulsive reaction to a temporary event. Before you break up with someone, make sure you consider your situation carefully, and avoid breaking up for these 10 reasons:

1. They notice other attractive people.

Your partner needs to be committed to you, but that doesn’t mean they’re forbidden from looking at anybody of the opposite sex.

2. You had a fight.

Fights happen in relationships. Many times, they’re actually a good thing. Don’t let one small fight break up an otherwise great relationship.

3. You disagree on a like or dislike.

If you discover your partner hates your favorite band, it may be hard to hear, but it’s no reason to spark a breakup. You’re allowed to have different interests.

4. You don’t have enough time for the relationship.

If the relationship is important enough to you, you can make time for it.

5. Your partner doesn’t do everything you ask.

Relationships take two people — two people who make decisions and do things independently. Don’t break up a relationship because you can’t fully control it.

6. You’re unhappy right now.

If a relationship is making you chronically unhappy, that’s one thing. But if you’re only unhappy for a moment, don’t impulsively end things because of it.

7. You don’t like a bad habit.

If your partner chews too loudly, it might be annoying, but it’s not a good reason to break up.

8. You fantasize about being single.

When you’re single, you’ll probably fantasize about being in a relationship.

9. You don’t want to commit.

Relationships don’t necessarily demand a lifelong commitment. Take things one day at a time.

10. You find out new things about them.

Once the initial allure of the new relationship fades, you’ll start noticing new details about your partner. Everybody has flaws; if you break up with someone every time you discover some, you’re bound to be single forever.

There are many good reasons to break up with someone, but these do not apply. Think carefully before you decide to end things.

Designing Your Way Out of a Breakup

Breaking up is hard to do. There’s so much left behind; both physical and emotional. I started a business called Never Liked It Anyway to help people move on after a breakup — the idea was simple. Sell all the stuff you’re left with after a breakup and buy some new things with the money you make that will help catapult you out of breakup land. It seems obvious to say, but a big part of moving on is clearing out the old to make way for the new. I sat down with the unstoppable Leura Spielman – a designer and brains behind the amazing operation Laurelandwolfe.com to get some inspiration on how to freshen up your space after a breakup, and why it’s so important.

Bella: Why is clearing out a space important?

Leura: The other day, we had a team brainstorm to discuss all the times when we’ve felt inspired to design — we all stuck our hands up and said “after a breakup”! Things have memories and stories attached to them — and every time you use them, you’re reminded of those times. When you’ve gone through a breakup, it’s incredibly important to remove yourself from those memories. You don’t want to see them everyday, so why would you want to see the memories?

Bella: What can design do to your mood and outlook?

Leura: Design is everything. We don’t go to fancy restaurants because of the fancy linen, or price tags, we go because of the ambiance and how they make us feel. It’s an elevated experience that feels magical and important. Whether it’s from putting together a beautifully crafted space or getting dressed each day, design impacts you psychologically everyday, in every way.

Bella: It is about the everyday things, isn’t it? Often, they’re so subtle…

Leura: Absolutely – it’s the little things. Each morning, I always take time to sit and enjoy my coffee in a real mug. It makes me feel like I’m starting the day in an important and meaningful way. And I never eat off paper plates!

Bella: Can surrounding yourself with beautifully designed things help you move on?

Leura: I think so. Design, colors and imagery give a certain effect on the way you feel. It can make you feel calm, happy, excited and everything in between. People say “dress for the job you want’ and in our world, we say ‘design for the life you deserve.’ And that’s never more important than after a breakup.

Bella: I think a big part of design after a breakup is sending a message to yourself that you’re going to be OK and that your life is moving forward.

Leura: Exactly. You’re saying to yourself “I’m not in chaos and I’m moving up.” Having a well-designed space gives you a feeling like it’s going to be ok.

Bella: Ok, so when redesigning a space, where do you start?

Leura: The first step is to start with what you’re keeping and what you’re getting rid of. Then assess what you need or what you’d like and build from there.

Bella: Are there any quick fixes that can instantly transform a space?

Leura: If you want a drastic impact in a small amount of time, paint your walls! I’m a big fan of shaking it up like that. It will change your space and your mood in a flash.

Bella: Anything else?

Leura: People never invest in bedding, but there’s nothing better than good bedding and a sexy robe. Some cashmere is always good.

Bella: I can attest to that! I bought some kick ass bedding after a breakup! What other tips would you have for someone looking to change up their space after a breakup?

Leura: People often think about the BIG pieces, but the small things count too — like a beautiful simple candle or pillows. There are so many small, sexy and sumptuous things that can help make you feel great about yourself again. Things that instantly transform your mood — just like buying a new dress. That instant gratification can be achieved through nice, meaningful small things.

Bella: Sometimes, the idea of redesigning a space can feel daunting. How do you get your clients excited about the project?

Leura: I just remind them that they have the opportunity to do what they want again — if you’ve always wanted a sexy boudoir, go for it! Now’s the time to make it feels like your space again; it’s time to leverage the opportunity that you don’t really have to compromise.

Bella: It’s an interesting thought, but makes sense; redesigning your space is a way to reaffirm your own style, taste and identity. Can you tell us about a time you changed up your space?

Leura: I just moved into my own apartment, so a lot of this advice is very personal. I had a lot of fun and got girly things and arranged things just the way I like them. It’s wonderful to be with someone, but it’s a lot of comprises — when you don’t have to make them, just go for it!

Tavi Gevinson On How Taylor Swift Helped Her Through Her First Break-Up

She was sitting front row at fashion shows at the age of 13, running her own magazine by the time she hit 15 and now, at 18, will be starring in the Broadway production of “This Is Our Youth,” this month. Tavi Gevinson seems anything but your average teenager, but as it turns out, her high school experience was … pretty average.

As the newest cover star gracing New York Magazine’s fall fashion issue, the recent graduate is all grown up, opening up about normal teen milestones like crushes, hormones and break-ups (though to be fair, not everyone gets to be consoled by Taylor Swift). Scroll down below for highlights from the interview and photos, and head over to nymag.com for more.

On high school…
“I think everybody should go to high school. It’s horrible, and it unites you with other people.”

On moving to New York…
“Every time I’m like, What if I go to New York and I get caught up and I become a horrible person? But then I’m also like, I’m about to discover a lot of things about myself, like this poem I have on my wall. The last lines are: ‘You have not grown old and it is not too late to dive into your increasing depths where life calmly gives out its own secret.’ And that’s something that I repeated to myself a lot after the breakup and that I think about a lot whenever I feel like being a teenager is so much of who I am and I get nervous, and then it’s like, No. Things are just beginning.”

On the bright-side of this summer’s break-up…
“… coming out of the breakup has kind of reignited my love for fashion, because it’s a way of asserting a new identity and becoming a new person and giving yourself space.”

On her first break-up with her high school boyfriend…
“I flew straight to New York for a wedding, and then I visited Taylor Swift at her home in Rhode Island. I hate being heartbroken, but who better to discuss it with than Taylor Swift?”

On her identity as an actor…
“I no longer get into stupid thought wormholes about identity and stuff. At one time I did have some impostor syndrome about acting, but then I remembered I’ve been doing this since I was little, actually.”

On her character in “This Is Our Youth”…
“Kenny said most girls just play her as a bitch, and in the beginning I think I was playing her that way, but then I started discovering her layers.”

On whether she’ll miss being a teenager…
“I will try to hold on to the intense feeling. I will both be glad that that’s no longer happening and kind of miss it. When you’re 14, you’re basically on drugs all the time — the hormones in your body are so crazy. But I really loved and appreciated the intensity of that. And you’re experiencing everything for the first time, so everything feels like an epiphany. And, like, I really liked the experience of having a crush, because I was like, this is my thing and it doesn’t have to do with you and you’re just some dummy boy for me to project on.”
