Jim Jones “Election,” Action Bronson ft. Hologram & Meyhem Lauren “Mongolia” & More | Daily Visuals 11.19.20

Jim Jones has really come a long way from his Diplomatic Immunity days and while his previous records weren’t exactly made of political content, the Harlem rapper feels the time is right to exercise his 1st amendment rights.

For his visuals to “Election,” Capo calls out the ridiculousness that is this Trump administration while politicking on the block with his peoples and encourages heads to make their voices heard one way or another.

Action Bronson meanwhile returns to the rap game after a long hiatus and for his Hologram and Meyhem Lauren assisted clip to “Mangolia” runs from the plug with a suitcase attached to a severed hand. Yeah, no one would notice that.

Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Sheff G, DJ Kay Slay featuring everybody, and more.

In 1974, a misguided 19 year old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted to make a name for himself and so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams he attempted to rob a post office. Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. With an intelligent, provocative and stylized approach, "Bronson" (based on a true story) follows the metamorphosis of Mickey Peterson into Britain's most violent prisoner, Charles Bronson.

Ludacris, Action Bronson Headline 4th Annual National Cannabis Festival In D.C.

National Cannabis Festival Washington DC

Source: National Cannabis Festival / National Cannabis Festival

The Nation’s Capital will undoubtedly be draped in a curious haze of smoke this coming Saturday (April 20), most especially the grounds of RFK Stadium. The fourth annual National Cannabis Festival kicks off at noon on 420, with Ludacris and Action Bronson sharing the top billing.

Along with Luda and Bronsolini, Washington’s legendary Go-Go band, The Junkyard Band, will also take the NCF stages. Joining the aforementioned acts are reggae band Strykers Posse, brass band Black Masala, and DJ Farrah Flosscett.

While music and, ahem, the sticky green leaf will be the center of the festivities tomorrow, NCF organizers also held a National Cannabis Policy Summit earlier today (April 19) at Washington’s Newseum, and we’ve breezed through to find a well-attended event with some of the most knowledgeable marijuana advocates and activists in the region and beyond.

In case you’re up for joining tomorrow’s party, check out more information about the National Cannabis Festival here.

Young Thug and Lil Uzi Vert have some interesting taste in fashion as you may know so if you think about it, it was only a matter of time before the two linked up to style on their haters.

In their collaborative clip to “Up” the ATL and Philly rappers seem to go with An American Horror Story theme in which the thick monsters in the video have demonic features but that stripper pole seems kosher enough so…

Curren$ y and Harry Fraud meanwhile take us back to a simpler time when VHS tape picture quality relied on that almighty “Tracking” button in their grainy clip to the Action Bronson assisted “Scarab 38.”

Action Bronson Sued For Uncleared Salsa Samples [LISTEN]

Action Bronson has had a year worth forgetting but the dark cloud hasn’t left from over his hulking frame just yet.

Pioneering Salsa group El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico is dragging the native New Yorker to court because his love for their music allegedly didn’t match the intergrity of sample clearance procedures. A couple of tracks from his earlier projects, Bon Appetit ….. Bitch and the initial installment of Blue Chips are named in the suit.

Reports TMZ:

Action Bronson’s big appetite for Latin music is coming back to haunt him … he’s being sued for allegedly ripping off 2 tracks by Puerto Rican salsa legends El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.

The owners of El Gran Combo’s songs “Falsaria” and “Trampolin” say the tracks were sampled without permission on Bronson’s songs “Mofongo” and “Tapas.”

They say Bronson even admitted on Twitter in 2011 he sampled “Falsaria” and single out a 2014 Inquisitor interview where the Queens rapper gushed, “I like to cook to Spanish and Latin music. If you’re in the kitchen … I’d suggest bands like El Gran Cambo de Puerto Rico.”

They bring up his affinity for naming songs after food dishes … “Mofongo,” is also the name of a popular Puerto Rican dish.

They claim Bronson has made and is still making bank off the plagiarism because the tracks are still all over music platforms. The owners want Bronson to stop distribution and pay them damages.

Listen to “Mofongo” vs. “Falsaria” right down below. “Tapas” and “Trampolin” can be found on the next page.

What’s Beef: Mike Epps Parodies Ghostface Killah’s Action Bronson Diss Video?

The married Mike Epps, was recently busted by his wife for his risque social media behavior. Perhaps in an attempt to deflect some of the spotlight’s glare, the veteran comedian has recently uploaded a YouTube video, where he the spoofs  Ghostface Killah’s message to Action Bronson.

Back in July, Ironman released a video where he candidly shared his thoughts. This response followed Action’s appearance on ESPN’s Sports Nation. Pretty Tony challenged the Queens MC and rhetorically asked things like, “Who gives you the right to even mention my name out your motherfucking mouth? Boy, you done made a mistake.”

Below, check out the video. Did Mike Epps rendition do the original video justice?

Action Bronson On Ghostface Killah: “He’s Not Rapping Like This No More” [VIDEO]

The notion that Action Bronson sounds like Ghostface Killah is a well-worn topic–within Hip-Hop communities. That being said, as the Flushing, Queens MC continues to increase his celebrity, that doesn’t mean that the folks who don’t know him won’t bring up the comparison.

Bronsolino was recently a guest on ESPN’s SportsNation when Marcellus Wiley posed the question, “Has it helped you or hurt you career [when people say] you sound like Ghostface?”

Having been asked the question a thousand and one times, Mr. Wonderful himself went into his answer rather passively saying, “I think it’s indifferent to me at this point. People are going to make comparisons regardless…and I’m just glad it’s one of the greats.”

But after Max Kellerman expressed he was the biggest GFK fan around, Bronson asserted himself as the alpha male by saying “[Ghostface] isn’t rapping like this no more.”

Well damn. Shots fired…or nah?

Just yesterday, July 10, the Wu-Tang Clan legend released Twelve Reasons to Die II–his third album in three years–on top of a group album that dropped last Decemeber. However, to say he’s getting the same amount of fanfare he did in his younger days would be nostalgic gas at best. Still, Hip-Hop is all about paying homage in public and being blunt in private and Bronson admittingly says the moment was not his “finest hour.”

Watch Action Bronson’s SportsNation interview below and flip through the gallery to see his clarity on the matter.

Anti-Action Bronson Protest Pops Up In Canada

Action Bronson joins the list of rappers like Tyga that have been the subject of protests and petitions for their lyrical content.

This time the New York-based rapper has been targeted by over 25,000 people that don’t want to see him perform at Toronto’s NXNE festival in June. Click here to see the online boycott.

The protest, started by a woman named Erica Shiner, states the following:

We urge you to stop your support for Action Bronson performing at Yonge and Dundas Square as part of the NXNE music festival on June 21st 2015. The content of his music glorifies raping and murdering women. It is completely inappropriate that an artist like this be hosted at a venue owned and operated by the City of Toronto, as part of a festival which is funded by various levels of government. It demonstrates that NXNE, the City of Toronto, and Vans Footwear turn a blind eye to rape culture and violence against women. He should not be given a voice through the support of any of the aforementioned groups.

Please refer to the petition for a sample of his content and some personal messages from others who have signed the petition.
The petition specifically cites songs “Consensual Rape” and a video where Bronson eats his meal off a dead woman before rolling her up in a carpet.

Bronson fired back on social media and blasted his “haters” in a fashion fans are accustomed it.

NXNE organizers released their own statement in support of Action Bronsom:

On Tuesday, May 26 a group of concerned Torontonians created a petition to remove Action Bronson from NXNE’s lineup on Sunday, June 21 at Yonge-Dundas Square. The petition has spawned a passionate online discussion. The Festival would like to address this topic.

Action Bronson performed at Yonge-Dundas Square as part of NXNE in 2012 with Killer Mike, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. It was a positive concert that was described by reviewers as “laid back”, “a lot of fun” and a “world class hip-hop showcase”. NXNE is confident the lineup on June 21 at Yonge-Dundas Square will make for another enjoyable day of music in a public space.

“NXNE will also present a number of rap artists at various venues, such as Tink and Kate Tempest, who have be lauded for the undisguised feminist viewpoints in their music.” says Sara Peel, Managing Director of NXNE. ” “That being said, in the interest of moving forward in a positive manner, we are engaging in discussion with our community about this important issue, and looking to provide opportunities for concerned voices to be heard.”

NXNE believes each and every one of these artists have the right to express their views through music, but those views belong to them and them alone. Those who are offended by an artist are invited to check out other Festival showcases, as NXNE will present hundreds of artists this June – some may be considered controversial, but most are just plain fun.

Bronson is also receiving support from fans and a counter-petition has been launched to “stop feminist extremists from censoring Action Bronson’s free speech and his performance at NXNE.”
