Dan Levy Taps Thom Browne for ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Wedding Finale

“Schitt’s Creek” came to an end after six seasons on Tuesday night. And anyone who has been a fan of the Pop network’s heartwarming and wickedly funny comedy series knows that Debra Hanson’s costumes have played a major role, from Moira’s (Catherine O’Hara’s) penchant for black-and-white Alexander McQueen and her collection of bebes (wigs), to David’s (Dan Levy’s) fuzzy sweaters and kilts.
The wedding finale episode did not disappoint in the sartorial department, starting with Moira’s appearance as chic officiant, complete with a white robe and mitre, like something right off the Met Gala “Heavenly Bodies” red carpet. Levy didn’t scrimp on the style opportunity, either, tapping Thom Browne for his skirted wedding tuxedo.
Browne has been a trailblazer in the push for more gender inclusivity in fashion, a sentiment that played out in his first coed fall 2020 runway collection, presented last month in Paris.
Although the onscreen tuxedo wasn’t custom, Browne did fit Levy in the store for the scene in March 2019. “I am always a fan of anyone who is true to his or herself…this is true fashion…this is true style,” Browne told WWD of being part of the scene. “I like to showcase these people in any way

Maisie Williams, Janelle Monáe and Chloe Wise Take in Thom Browne show

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Maisie Williams and Reuben Selby obviously got the memo about his-and-hers dressing at Thom Browne: The pair turned out with matching vivid blue eye makeup and pastel check suits.
“We wanted to dye his hair blue, but we couldn’t find any bleach because all the shops were shut,” said the actress, who remained mum about what she has on the cards in coming months.
Artist Chloe Wise paired her black and white tweed suit with a boned bodice. “I’m wearing a corset and it’s really uncomfortable,” she confided.
Playing the reporter with her smartphone, she went on to pretend to film interviews with fellow guests, who included Janelle Monáe, Michèle Lamy and Jeremy O. Harris. “I’m going to interview you while you interview me,” she laughed.

Thom Browne RTW Fall 2020

If the rising waters at Balenciaga left one with a sense of doom and gloom, along came Thom Browne’s ark to save the day with childlike reverie.
Here’s the setup: Showing men’s and women’s on the runway together for the first time, the designer put the sexes on equal footing — literally — in sensible, block heel Ghillie boots. It was a good move.
Gone were women in dizzying platform shoes having to be escorted off the runway after feeling faint. Gone, too, were the hobble skirts and bound arms that have on occasion, suggested a misogynistic blind spot. Instead, strolling the runway wonderland of snow, were matched his-and-her model sets, dressed identically to tailored perfection in skirts, dresses and suits.
But, since they all wore black veils over their faces (fastened with tiny hair pins, each painstakingly affixed with a signature Thom Browne red, white and blue ribbon), it was difficult to tell which was which, and that was the point. Thanks to Janelle Monáe (sitting front row), Billy Porter, Laverne Cox and many more trailblazers, it doesn’t really matter anymore.
Playing to the storyline, each model carried a different animal-shaped leather handbag. There were 33 in total in Browne’s zootopia — giraffes,
