Canada Goose Acquires Baffin Inc.

Canada Goose Holdings Inc. has acquired Canadian footwear firm Baffin Inc. for 32.5 million Canadian dollars.
Baffin is a manufacturer of performance outdoor and industrial footwear. The deal is funded with available cash on hand and the issuance of 1.5 million Canadian dollars of restricted subordinate voting shares to the seller. The transaction is subject to customary closing adjustments.
Dani Reiss, president and chief executive officer of Canada Goose, said, “I have known and admired Baffin president Paul Hubner for years, and watched as he has developed innovative new designs and built a thriving business that is known for making the best and warmest boots. For decades, our products have lived side-by-side in the coldest places on Earth. The Arctic heritage and best-in-class functionality of Baffin boots are synonymous with what Canada Goose stands for.” He said the acquisition will provide Canada Goose with “valuable infrastructure and know-how to start exploring” the global footwear category.
Huber, an expert in insulated footwear construction and design, has tested his product in the North and South Poles, on Mt. Everest and Mt. Rainer. Baffin’s manufacturing roots date back to 1979.
Huber said ownership under Canada Goose will help the Baffin brand realize its full potential. He will

How Canada Goose Brought Its Technical Knowhow From Parkas to Sweaters

Canada Goose has always combined luxury with technical knowhow in its outerwear, but now the Toronto-based company has turned its eye towards another important element in your winter wardrobe: sweaters. Its new knitwear offerings are both as stylish and as adventure-ready as you’d expect.

Canada Goose Gets PETA Protestors on Black Friday

Canada Goose had one of the busiest shopping days of the year interrupted by racous protestors.
Roughly 200-plus animal rights activists led by members of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals gathered in the late afternoon of Black Friday outside the year-old Canada Goose store in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. The block of Wooster Street where the store is located is home to a number of luxury and fashion brands, including Chanel, Balmain and Ted Baker.
While dozens of shoppers inside the Canada Goose store appeared to be doing little more than waiting out the protestors and a sizable crowd that had gathered to stare, photograph and in a few instances join in, PETA activists chanted, held signs and handed out fliers graphically describing and disparaging the use of down and coyote fur in Canada Goose’s popular winter coats.
A Canada Goose spokeswoman said PETA and other animal rights activist are “grossly misinformed” about the company’s practices around down and fur.
“They ignore the strict government regulation and standards that are in place, as well as our commitment to the responsible use and ethical sourcing of all animal materials in our products,” the spokeswoman said. “While we are unsurprised by their attempt

Anti-Action Bronson Protest Pops Up In Canada

Action Bronson joins the list of rappers like Tyga that have been the subject of protests and petitions for their lyrical content.

This time the New York-based rapper has been targeted by over 25,000 people that don’t want to see him perform at Toronto’s NXNE festival in June. Click here to see the online boycott.

The protest, started by a woman named Erica Shiner, states the following:

We urge you to stop your support for Action Bronson performing at Yonge and Dundas Square as part of the NXNE music festival on June 21st 2015. The content of his music glorifies raping and murdering women. It is completely inappropriate that an artist like this be hosted at a venue owned and operated by the City of Toronto, as part of a festival which is funded by various levels of government. It demonstrates that NXNE, the City of Toronto, and Vans Footwear turn a blind eye to rape culture and violence against women. He should not be given a voice through the support of any of the aforementioned groups.

Please refer to the petition for a sample of his content and some personal messages from others who have signed the petition.
The petition specifically cites songs “Consensual Rape” and a video where Bronson eats his meal off a dead woman before rolling her up in a carpet.

Bronson fired back on social media and blasted his “haters” in a fashion fans are accustomed it.

NXNE organizers released their own statement in support of Action Bronsom:

On Tuesday, May 26 a group of concerned Torontonians created a petition to remove Action Bronson from NXNE’s lineup on Sunday, June 21 at Yonge-Dundas Square. The petition has spawned a passionate online discussion. The Festival would like to address this topic.

Action Bronson performed at Yonge-Dundas Square as part of NXNE in 2012 with Killer Mike, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. It was a positive concert that was described by reviewers as “laid back”, “a lot of fun” and a “world class hip-hop showcase”. NXNE is confident the lineup on June 21 at Yonge-Dundas Square will make for another enjoyable day of music in a public space.

“NXNE will also present a number of rap artists at various venues, such as Tink and Kate Tempest, who have be lauded for the undisguised feminist viewpoints in their music.” says Sara Peel, Managing Director of NXNE. ” “That being said, in the interest of moving forward in a positive manner, we are engaging in discussion with our community about this important issue, and looking to provide opportunities for concerned voices to be heard.”

NXNE believes each and every one of these artists have the right to express their views through music, but those views belong to them and them alone. Those who are offended by an artist are invited to check out other Festival showcases, as NXNE will present hundreds of artists this June – some may be considered controversial, but most are just plain fun.

Bronson is also receiving support from fans and a counter-petition has been launched to “stop feminist extremists from censoring Action Bronson’s free speech and his performance at NXNE.”

Marilyn Manson Punched In The Face At A Denny’s In Canada: Reports

Marilyn Manson was allegedly punched in the face while dining at a Denny’s in Alberta, Canada over the weekend.

According to E! News, the 46-year-old rocker had popped into the restaurant after playing a Saturday concert in the area. The musician is currently on tour to promote his latest album, “The Pale Emperor.”

TMZ reports that Manson got into a scuffle with some people at the restaurant. The news outlet writes:

We’re told Manson got into an argument with a group at another table, and at some point allegedly called a guy’s [girlfriend] a bitch.

The guy was pissed, and we’re told he responded by punching Manson in the face.

Manson, however, says the attack was entirely unprovoked. The musician’s manager told TMZ that Manson did not insult anyone at the restaurant and that the “guy came out of nowhere and hit him in the face.”

Manson is reportedly planning on pressing charges.

A man who says he witnessed the attack corroborated Manson’s version of events, telling the Toronto Sun that the “Beautiful People” singer had been mingling with fans when he was assaulted.

“He was being friendly with everyone, anyone who wanted a picture, he would give them a picture, anyone who wanted an autograph he would give them an autograph,” the witness named Johnny Scott told the Sun. “They were just talking and the guy just punched him right in the face without any provocation.”

Local police confirmed to E! News that there had been an “altercation” at the Denny’s restaurant that night, but did not identify the individuals involved.

“Investigation determined that three people had been involved in a physical altercation and sustained minor injuries,” police said. “No charges were laid and the file has been concluded.”
