Alexi Lubomirski to Publish Children’s Book, Collaborate With Movado

ALEXI SAYS THANKS — A LOT: Droves of people know Alexi Lubomirski as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding photographer, but as of late more are learning about the lensman’s numerous socially conscious pursuits.
On May 7, Lubomirski will launch a new children’s book, “Thank You For My Dreams,” which is meant to teach children about gratitude, with all proceeds benefiting the charity Concern Worldwide. Consciously saying thank you was something he started in his twenties. “I became aware that whenever I felt down, sad, or angry about something (especially angry), I could feel the anger manifesting in my chest and stomach. So I mentally said a prayer of thanks in an attempt to change my demeanor, and after a minute of concentrating on something I was grateful for, I very quickly noticed the physical changes in my body. Even though the initial problem still remained, I felt calmer and better equipped to deal with it,” he said.
Fifteen years later, the married father of two young sons is still at it and has taught his children the exercise. He wrote in the book’s introduction, “I mentally say (pray) ‘thank you’ for the things in my life, such as my health, my

Payless, Sequential Brands Collaborate on Martha Everyday

Payless on Wednesday began offering a limited-edition holiday collection of footwear, inspired by Martha Stewart’s everyday life and style.
The new line, available at, is — for now — just a capsule collection for holiday. The line was in collaboration with Sequential Brands Group Inc., the brand management firm that owns the Martha Stewart brand.
Sequential’s chief executive officer Karen Murray said the new partnership “complements our strategy for the Martha Stewart brand, which is to create beautiful, high-quality products and make them available at an affordable price where consumers shop.”
Stewart last month partnered with Aerosoles for a separate footwear line called Martha Stewart for Aerosoles. She is also Aerosole’s brand ambassador. The line at Payless is part of the core Martha Everyday brand. The limited-edition capsule at Payless for includes a strappy, stiletto sandal; a flat, kitten-heel mule and two variations of sling-backs. Price points range from $ 29.99 to $ 34.99. Additional styles — casual sandals, sneakers and slip-ons — are on the agenda for spring 2019.

Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui Collaborate on Limited-Edition Collection

Two greats of New York’s old guard have joined forces.
Friends Marc Jacobs and Anna Sui have aligned their taste for quirky girly girls. They have teamed on a limited-edition range of accessories, shoes and T-Shirts evoking that aesthetic.
Both labels are popular in the Japanese market — with Sui’s makeup and Jacobs’ clothing taking prime space within key urban department stores. It’s unsurprising, then, that the collection debuted at Isetan on May 2. Today, distribution expands to include select Sui stores worldwide as well as Marc Jacobs’ e-commerce site.
The collection features imagery by illustrator Will Broome — the artist behind the Miss and Mister Jacobs caricatures. Designs will be priced from $ 65 for a bag charm to $ 395 for a patchwork camera-shape bag. Ts and sweatshirts range from $ 95 to $ 250, while slip-on and high-top sneakers are priced at $ 225.
“It’s a fun project that celebrates our dear friendship,” Jacobs said.
“Marc and I have been good friends for a very long time. I can’t believe it has taken us this long to collaborate. It was so much fun working on a project together,” Sui added of the collection.

Kipling and Disney Collaborate on Accessories Capsule

Disney has teamed with Kipling on a line of accessories, beginning with holiday.
It is the latest effort by the Nineties brand — best known for its fanny-pack and cross-body styles, each accompanied by an ape charm – to increase its popularity and reach a new generation of consumers. In July, Kipling collaborated with Urban Outfitters Inc. on a limited-edition line of accessories.
In its first collaboration with Disney, Kipling has taken inspiration from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Poison apple and magic mirror motifs are scattered throughout the multistyle collection, to be priced from $ 29 to $ 149 at retail. Shapes include backpacks, handbags and small travel accessories.
“It’s really about the synergy between the two brands — Kipling is fun and energetic and youthful and shares Disney’s sense of imagination,” said president of Kipling North America Nina Flood.
Kipling’s tie-up with Disney is to continue through 2019. With each new collection, Kipling will dote on style signatures of a different Disney princess.

Anna Sui, Bed/Stu Collaborate on Footwear, Handbags for Spring

SUI STEPS UP: Anna Sui has partnered with Bed|Stü footwear to produce a seven-piece, limited-edition collection that will include sandals, boots and handbags. The collection will be unveiled at Sui’s show tonight at Skylight Clarkson Sq.
The collection retails from $ 325 to $ 1,195 and will be available for purchase on, as well as the Bed|Stü flagship in Malibu and the Anna Sui store in New York, beginning in February. Additional locations will be revealed in the coming months.

The collection, inspired by the late Sixties, embodies a new bohemian aesthetic with rustic elements and hand-tooled leathers that are vegetable tanned and free from harmful metals such as chrome and formaldehydes.
Roger Orozco, founder and creative director of Bed|Stü, said, “We couldn’t be more excited to be doing our first collaboration with Anna Sui, who is such a leader in the fashion industry. Working with her was a great experience, and it was so exciting to see the accessories from the collaboration paired with the looks on the runway.”

Thierry Lasry, Ali Madhavi Collaborate on Video

MILK RUN: Thierry Lasry and Ali Mahdavi make quite the pair. The eyewear designer and the artist and fashion photographer hosted a cocktail on Friday night.
It was to celebrate the release of a video they did together. Called “Milky Way,” the two-minute clip features a model swimming in a pool of milk. In it, she wears a glamorous pair of cat-eye sunglasses from the spring collection.
“It was a challenging shoot,” said Lasry with a laugh, noting that you cannot really warm up the milk. The video will be used for social networks and in-store animations.
The clip marks his first collaboration with Madhavi.
“We’re both fans of the Eighties,” said Lasry.
“It’s the most creative and unpretentious period. Claude Montana was a genius,” Mugler’s ex-assistant Mahdavi opined.
Mahdavi said he’s working on a capsule collection of simple classics including a trenchcoat, a peacoat and a dress with Laurent Mercier, a former Balmain designer.
The Misshapes’ Leigh Lezark, sporting a Roksanda sleeveless coat and Geordon Nicol turned out. The duo did the score of “Time to Choose,” a new documentary by “Inside Job” director Charles Ferguson investigating global climate change that will be screened during Paris Climate Summit in December. Two Cult L.A. Designers Collaborate on a Sculptural Ceramics Line

Each Friday this summer, Kathryn Bentley (designer of the cult Los Angeles jewelry line Dream Collective) and Bari Ziperstein (whose intricate B.Zippy ceramics are a favorite among the fashion and art crowd) spent the day together in Ziperstein’s L.A. studio as a sort of thought experiment. “We discovered similar ways of thinking about structure, pattern, and materials,” says Bentley, who has long collected Ziperstein’s work and also stocked it in her Silver Lake store for the past year. “We talked about everything from angled structures of Cold War Brutalist architecture to the color and patterns of the Memphis Milano movement and raw clay surfaces reminiscent of Future Primitive sculptures.”

The conversations naturally led to a collaboration, and the resulting series of B.Zippy for Dream Collective pots and vases debuted at Dream Collective’s storefront this week. The collection, like all of Ziperstein’s work, is both functional and strikingly sculptural; its column motifs, drip patterns, and matte finishes directly resulted from the duo’s dialogue about aesthetics. And though Bentley left the hands-on making of the pieces to Ziperstein, it was “an intellectual collaboration; we have a similar creative process,” she says. “Bari is a thinker and a true artist.”

Badgley and Mischka Collaborate With Publicolor at Pratt

Mark Badgley and James Mischka will be running late to the office Thursday morning, but with good reason. The designers plan to drop in at Publicolor’s Summer Design Studio at Pratt Institute to talk shop with 70 students from the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Harlem. The seven-week program for at-risk teens teaches them textile design through dyeing, weaving, sewing and patternmaking. After hearing about the Ruth Lande Shuman-led initiative through friends in the industry, the pair decided to get involved. So they will roll up their sleeves and visit various Publicolor classrooms and studio sessions to talk shop.
After reviewing the high school and middle school students’ work, the designers will offer some friendly school and career advice. The students’ extended stay at Pratt this summer is meant to make them feel more comfortable about pursuing college. Many of the students will be the first members of their family to do so. Publicolor helps them secure financial aid and, if need be, subsidizes any shortfall.
This will be the first time Badgley and Mischka have been involved with Publicolor.
