Robert Geller Creates T-shirt for COVID-19 Relief
Robert Geller is showing his charitable side again.
The men’s designer has created a limited-edition T-shirt in which sales will be donated to the fight against the coronavirus. The shirt sports script type across the front that reads: “I’m scared too but we’ll be alright.” Geller said the message is designed to “reflect the sentiment of the time and offer some optimism in these uncertain months.
“I have been thinking what I could do to somehow contribute to helping this situation,” he added. “I thought of the success of the Immigrant T-shirt and decided to make a new T-shirt with a graphic that reads: ‘I’m scared too but we’ll be alright.’ I felt that this was fitting for the emotions we are all feeling.”
In 2017, he designed a T-shirt with the word “Immigrant” across the front and profits were donated to the ACLU. At that time, he teamed with Grailed to sell the shirts, 190 of which sold out in three hours and prompted a second version. That effort raised more than $ 20,000 for the organization.
Geller is releasing 100 of the COVID-19-related T-shirts through his Robert Geller Studio beginning on May 8. They will retail for $ 50 and will be sold on

XXXTentacion Murder Suspect Asks Judge To Be Freed Due To COVID-19 Concerns

Source: Broward County Sheriff’s Office / Broward County Sheriff’s Office
It seems that the new finesse is claiming that Coronavirus might put you in grave danger. The man being held to the fire for XXXTentacion’s death is asking for some special consideration.
As spotted on HipHopDX Dedrick D. Williams is fearful that he will contract COVID-19 while he sits behind bars. According to a letter obtained by TMZ the Florida native has contacted the judge serving on his case in an effort to dodge infection. Addressed to Judge Michael A. Usan he wrote “I am sending you this letter to save my life. Recently a deputy at the Broward County main jail gave an inmate the Coronavirus. This matter makes me afraid because my immune system is very weak. And here at the jail they aren’t testing anyone” he revealed.
Williams also went into detail to explain that his other legal predicament is keeping him inside the big house. “I’m being held on a violation of probation with a new charge. I am innocent on the new charge that I am being charged with. But being I was on probation I’m being held awaiting to be proven innocent” he wrote. He ultimately asks for an approval to await his trial as a free, but closely monitored, man. “I am asking to be given a bond so I can avoid catching the coronavirus even if it’s only to be out on bond and house arrest until this disease blows over. I’ve been in here 21 months and haven’t been in any trouble.”
XXXTentacion was gunned down on June 18, 2018 while leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Four unidentified men fled the scene with his bag which contained about $ 50,000 in cash. The judge has yet to make a ruling on William’s request. You read the letter in entirety here.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Kidnapper Not Getting Out Of Jail Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

Source: New York State Criminal Court / New York State Criminal Court
Tekashi 6ix9ine can rest easy wherever he’s holed up these days. Despite a request for release, the man who kidnapped the Brooklyn rapper will not be getting out of the bing anytime soon.
Anthony “Harv” Ellison wanted out early out of fears of catching COVID-19 while locked up. Apparently, the judge wasn’t having it, siding with prosecutors who claim he is basically a menace to society.
Reports Page Six:
Federal prosecutors argued in court papers filed Friday that Tekashi 6ix9ine‘s kidnapper is a violent high-ranking member of the Nine Trey gang and could be a menace to the community if sprung from prison due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“His leadership role in an incredibly violent gang, his participation in a gunpoint kidnapping and robbery, and his horrific slashing of an unarmed and unsuspecting victim — all illustrate the continuing danger Ellison would pose to the community if his application were granted,” wrote prosecutor Michael Longyear of defendant Anthony “Harv” Ellison.
A jury convicted Ellison in October 2019 of the gunpoint kidnapping and robbery of Tekashi and the ear-to-chin slashing of a rival’s face a few months later.
And that’s on that.
Ellison’s lawyers—who claimed he was asthmatic—were asking that he be granted $ 200,000 bond and placed on house arrest. Ellison, who was convicted thanks to Tekashi’s testimony against him, is awaiting sentencing and facing 30 years to life for his crimes.
As for Tekashi, he was granted an early release into house arrest and reportedly recently asked for permission to shoot a music video in his backyard. We couldn’t make this stuff up if we tried.

A preacher in North Carolina allegedly put his congregation and the public at risk after holding Easter Sunday service while claiming he suffered from COVID-19 symptoms. Pastor Brian Carn of Charlotte was heard on an audio recording defying health guidelines and instructing his members to not mention attending the church service if they become ill.
In a report from local outlet WSOC-TV, it was revealed that an audio recording of the service from Kingdom City Church was made public and it featured damning statements from Carn regarding his health status.
“Does the devil fight my body?” Carn says according to the outlet’s account. “Of course. Just like he fights your body. Did I get the shakes? Yup. Did I cough? Yup. Did I feel pain in my body? Whatever.”
Carn has promised officials at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department that he will no longer hold services but has yet to confirm whether or not he was stricken by the coronavirus. WSOC also adds in its reporting that a member at Kingdom City Church said that Carn instructing his members to say they attended another church that it was intended to be an inside joke.

Eminem Thanks Detroit COVID-19 Frontline Workers With “Mom’s Spaghetti”

Source: John Atashian / Getty
Michigan has been one of the states hardest hit by the novel coronavirus, with COVID-19 spreading rapidly throughout. Detroit rapper Eminem provided meals of “Mom’s Spaghetti” to frontline workers combating the disease as a show of support to those brave individuals putting their lives on the line.
According to MLive.com, the veteran rapper provided prepared meals of spaghetti and sauce to healthcare workers at the Henry Ford Health Systems. The spaghetti came in plastic containers with an ironic “Mom” tattoo and a yellow sticker thanking the “frontline caregivers” with the Shady Records logo in the bottom.
From the caption of Henry Ford Health Systems’ Instagram page:
Our #HealthcareHeroes “lost themselves” in the delicious Mom’s Spaghetti donated by Detroit’s very own, @eminem. Thank you for providing a special meal for our team members!
The name of the frontline worker lunch special comes from Eminem’s smash hit “Lose Yourself” where he raps “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy /There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.”
Em has served the “Mom’s Spaghetti” dish at a pop-up event and at a festival hosted by the rapper. Around 400 meals were handed out to workers between two local Detroit hospitals.
Salute to Slim Shady for that warm gesture and stay strong, Michigan!

Beyoncé Discusses COVID-19 Disproportionally Affecting Black Communities [Video]

Source: Allen Berezovsky / Getty
Beyoncé continues to bring awareness about the struggle of Brown people even in the midst of a world crisis. She recently raised a red flag about how the pandemic is trending in our communities.
At spotted on The Huffington Post the singer-songwriter made an appearance on the recent One World: Together At Home special. She opened up her video by taking the time to honor those essential staffers who continue to do their job even in the face of infection. “To the doctors, the nurses and other health care workers who are away from their families, taking care of ours, we continue to pray for your safety,” she said. “To those in the food industry, delivery workers, mail carriers and sanitation employees, who are working so that we can be safe in our homes, we thank you for your selfless service.”
While her time was brief she maximized her slot by bringing light to the very alarming data that is coming back from the Coronavirus; specifically how it has ravaged Black families. “Black Americans disproportionately belong to these essential parts of the workforce that do not have the luxury of working from home,” she said. “And African-American communities at large have been severely affected in this crisis.”
She also pointed to a recent report that 57% of the fatal cases from her hometown of Houston are African American. “This virus is killing Black people at an alarmingly high rate here in America,” she added.
In closing Beyoncé urged everyone to take care of themselves and each other. “Please protect yourselves,” she said. “We are one family and we need you. We need your voices, your abilities and your strength all over this world. I know it’s very hard, but please be patient and stay encouraged, keep the faith, stay positive and continue to pray for our heroes. Good night and God bless you.”

Workers Rights Consortium Launches COVID-19 Brand Tracker
MAKING A LIST: In association with Pennsylvania State University’s Center for Global Workers’ Rights, the Workers Rights Consortium has created a “COVID-19 Brand Tracker.” The tracker offers a list that will continually be updated to indicate which apparel labels and retailers are paying their suppliers for orders that are in production or completed, as well as those that are refusing to do so.
As of late in the day Tuesday, companies that had committed to paying in full for completed orders and in-production ones were H&M, Adidas, Nike, Inditex, PVH Corp., Target (U.S.), VF Corp., Uniqlo, Marks & Spencer, LPP and Kiabi. Suppliers have raised concerns that VF is not honoring that commitment, and WRC is looking into that, as it will with any similar concerns about other companies, according to the site.
The tracker also lists companies that have not made a commitment to pay in full for orders completed and in-production ones. C&A, Gap, Primark, Kohl’s, Arcadia, J.C. Penney, Bestseller, Urban Outfitters, Asos, Mothercare, Tesco, Walmart and Next were the companies listed in that category, according to the WRC’s new tool.
The WRC’s COVID-19 Brand Tracker has ancillary information that acknowledges how COVID-19 has resulted in a huge drop in demand

Babyface Tested Positive For COVID-19 & Recovered, Teddy Riley Battle Back On

Source: Prince Williams / Getty
Now we know why the highly-anticipated “battle” between Babyface and Teddy Riley was postponed. The former had come down with COVID-19, that thankfully had recovered.
On Friday (April 10), which also happened to be his birthday, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds revealed that not only did he come down with COVID-19, but so did his entire immediate family.
“I tested positive for the Covid 19 virus, as did my family,” read part of Babyface’s statement. “It’s an incredibly scary thing to go through my friends. I’m happy to report we have now tested negative and are on our way back to full health.”
Bless up.
The “Whip Appeal” singer then added, “With that being said…..I would like to officially accept the invitation from the legendary Swizz Beatz & Timbaland to participate with my little brother, Teddy Riley in what I’d like to call a Celebration of Black Music Excellence in – Teddy vs. Babyface…”
It’s on. If all goes to plan, their Verzuz battle will go down on April 18 at 9pm ET on Babyface’s IG Live. In a recent interview, Riley had mentioned having a battle on a different platform, but that no longer seems to be the case.
Last night (April 11), the RZA faced off with DJ Premier and despite some audio issues it was everything we hoped for.
Cardi B Teams With Fashion Nova To Give Away $1 Million Towards Covid-19 Relief [Video]

Source: Prince Williams / ATLPics.Net
Even though she has inadvertently become the voice of the most popular Covid-19 meme, Bardi still cares. She is teaming up with her apparel partner to give back to the people.
As spotted on TMZ the Bronx bombshell made a recent announcement that she and Fashion Nova will be financially assisting families in need as the pandemic continues to cripple the United States’ economy. She detailed the opportunity in her signature delivery which seemed genuine but came with some hilarious descriptors.
“Many of you are struggling to pay bills, feed your families, and take care of your overall essential needs” she said. “You know sometimes you give to charity and you wonder, ‘Is it really going to the people?’ Well we’re gonna make sure it goes to the people”. She proceeded to describe how to apply but with very little chill.
“Make sure your Instagram is open because I’m going to make sure that you really do need it,” she said, joking, “Don’t be lying so you can lend your boyfriend some f**king money. No, you don’t gotta show us your p**y, but if you wanna DM it to me I don’t motherf**king mind” she explained.
“We love you guys and we are so thankful that you have been supporting us for so long,” she continued. “It’s time for us to support you guys back, and don’t be shy. Sometimes you gotta motherf**king ask for help.”

Bridget Foley’s Diary: The COVID-19 Impact Phillip Lim — Time for a Reset
Before Christmas, when no one had yet heard of the deadly coronavirus that would change our lives overnight, Phillip Lim wanted to push reset. Approaching his brand’s 15th anniversary, Lim found himself dealing with issues hardly unique to him — that the pace of fashion, its relentless speed and mind-set of more, had become negative forces in the culture and a drain on our humanity. “What are we doing? Why are we just running this race just to keep up? And what is the goal, what is the finish line?” he shared his soul-searching questions with WWD. Taking a step back “to allow myself the time to think about the act of joyful creation again, not just the hustle,” Lim decided to forego a runway show and instead threw a spirited come-one/come-all house party at his New York store.
Lim acknowledged that shows are expensive to stage and business was already challenged. Now, he and his partner, 3.1 Phillip Lim chief executive officer Wen Zhou, are determined to live their values, which Lim summed up as “humanity first.” But, he acknowledged, looking after employee needs as the industry implodes presents “a Catch 22 — we don’t have a source of income.”

Bridget Foley’s Diary: COVID-19 Impact — Angst on Orchard Street
Daniella Kallmeyer is exactly what most people don’t think of when they think of “the fashion industry.” Not the woman herself. Her look is casual-urbane, and her demeanor, a combination of mindful au courant cool and old-school gracious. Kallmeyer’s business, which bears her surname, is the outlier, in perception if not in fact — tiny and off the grid of major name-recognition. It takes the notion of “small business” to its most extreme manifestation. She is self-financed, runs the company and designs the clothes solo. And by the way, she can make an arty table chic enough to anchor a small, artfully minimalist retail outpost. After being forced to lay off half of her staff last week, Kallmeyer now has an employee roster of one, apart from herself.
Kallmeyer launched her company 10 years ago. Developing her aesthetic has been a process, which she described during a Fall 2020 appointment as seeking to “explore the gender binary and breaking down the typical idea of femininity,” with a focus on polished but relaxed tailoring. Early on she found favor in Japan. That country accounted for the lion’s share of Kallmeyer’s business, until recently. Long skeptical about committing to physical retail, in June,

Bridget Foley’s Diary: The COVID-19 Impact — Amy Smilovic Invokes ‘Capitalism With Sensitivity’
Amy Smilovic has long been a standard-bearer of independent American fashion executives. She stealthily built her Tibi brand into a contemporary powerhouse with staying power, even after a dramatic shift in creative direction about a decade ago, from sweet girliness to a cleaner, more urbane look. In her two-plus decades in business, Smilovic had navigated major upheavals — 9/11 and the 2008-09 recession — without every laying off a single employee. That run ended last week, when fallout from the coronavirus pandemic forced her to terminate a full 30 percent of her 85-strong work force. It devastated her, and her goal is for the company to emerge from this crisis strong enough to bring those people back. “I believe in capitalism that has sensitivity to it,” Smilovic said.
WWD: This is all stunning, isn’t it?
Amy Smilovic: It’s stunning when you’re measuring time and minutes, when you can’t believe where your head was on Monday versus the previous Friday. It’s insane.
WWD: No one knows where it’s going.
A.S.: No one knows where it’s going. You are left to horrific imagination on how bad it could be. The health stories are devastating, when you read that hospitals are turning away people over 60 in countries

Nike Leaders, Nike Donate $15 Million to Fight COVID-19
NIKE’S TEAM EFFORT: To help fight the coronavirus pandemic, Nike Inc. leaders and the company’s foundation are donating more than $ 15 million to support communities where Nike employees live and work.
The mega brand’s home state of Oregon saw its biggest one-day spike in cases Tuesday, according to state and county officials. Gov. Kate Brown has ordered that schools remain closed through April 28. As the state’s second largest employer behind Intel, Nike has about 12,000 workers in the state. A good amount of the $ 15 million of the Nike-led donations will benefit local communities.
Nike cofounder and chairman emeritus Phil Knight and his wife Penny, executive vice chairman Mark Parker and his wife Kathy, and president and chief executive officer John Donahoe and his wife Eileen are donating a combined amount of $ 10 million.
The distribution of their funds will include $ 1 million to the Oregon Food Bank, $ 2 million to the Oregon Community Recovery Fund that has been set up by the Oregon Community Foundation and $ 7 million to the Oregon Health & Science University to bolster statewide care coordination in Oregon, to increase patient access and ramp up operational readiness for expanded diagnostic testing for COVID-19.

Queen Elizabeth Cancels Upcoming Travel Plans Due to COVID-19
The British royal family is taking precautions in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles, have canceled their upcoming travel plans due to the rapid spread of COVID-19.
The queen, who is 93, has canceled her upcoming trips to Cheshire and Camden in England for later this month, with a press release from Buckingham Palace today stating the cancellation is “a sensible precaution and for practical reasons in the current circumstances.”
The statement also reveals that the decision was made in consultation with the Medical Household and Government and that her other upcoming events will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
The announcement coincides with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall’s decision to cancel their tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus and Jordan from March 17 to 25.
Clarence House issued a statement on the cancellation, stating: “Owing to the unfolding situation with the coronavirus pandemic, the British government has asked Their Royal Highnesses to postpone their spring tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus and Jordan.”
The cancellation of their engagements comes just after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, traveled to the U.K. for their final engagements as
