One day after Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker blasted founding member Tom DeLonge to Rolling Stone for being “ungrateful” and “disingenuous” over conflicting reports that he had left the band, the singer-guitarist issued an open letter to fans detailing his side of the story.

Tom DeLonge brushed aside reports today that he quit the rock band Blink-182.

“I never quit the band,” he said via a statement from his rep. “Actually, I was on the phone discussing a possible Blink-182 event in New York City when I heard the ‘news.’”

News reports broke Monday that after more than two decades, the founding member of the band that brought you 90′s classics like “All the Small Things” and “What’s My Age Again” had decided to leave the band for other obligations.

Other members of Blink include Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus.

DeLonge, 39, has dabbled in other ventures while with Blink like the band Angels & Airwaves, but the rock icon said these and other side projects absolutely won’t cause him to completely leave the band.

“The ONLY truth here is that I have commitments that limit my availability this year,” he added in his statement today. “I love Blink-182 and I’m not leaving.”

Blink took a short hiatus in the mid-2000′s but eventually reunited.
