The D-O Double G celebrates his star on the Walk of Fame with a new song.
For the past decade and a half, Kev Brown has occupied a significant segment of underground Hip-Hop and his two-headed skill set has only been refined over the years. It has been an especially busy year for the DMV rapper and producer, dropping his third LP of the year with the potent Fill In The Blank which only aims to heighten the mystique about the man and place him properly next, if not ahead, of his dual-skilled peers.
Fill In The Blank runs for 20 tracks, nine short from the Low Budget Crew member’s epic and equally sweeping Homework album from earlier this year. While the strategy of releases isn’t immediately known, the bookend projects that sandwich the instrumental and wildly experimental Delve Into Classic Moog show and prove that the years haven’t dulled Brown’s ability to craft moments with thumping production and his comfortable, bourbon-soaked rhyme schemes.
Beyond the production, what stands out above anything is Brown’s ability to get mileage out of his verses without breaking a sweat or word count. This efficiency in rhyming, coupled with production that sounds chiseled from the finest boom-bap of the ’90’s and early 2000’s, is only heightened by the fact Brown posts an everyman observational stance via his verses.
Speaking of production, former rapper and producer, and current drummer for funk band The Du-Rites J-Zone gets several shout-outs across the songs for providing the drums on the project.
There are schools of thought that embrace the beauty of simplicity and yes, Brown isn’t looking to emerge as a lyrical vanguard at this stage of his career. Instead, he sticks to his proven formula doing what the beats call for and rapping directly to the listener. There isn’t any abstract meaning hidden in the song, and there’s enough head-nod heat to last you through the chilly fall months and beyond.
Stream Kev Brown’s Fill In The Blank via Spotify below. Hit this link to find where the project is streaming and how you can support the artist with your dollars. And while you’re at it, go grab some high-quality Kev Brown merch here.

On the road to achieving a more inclusive fashion industry, ModCloth has been one of the biggest pioneers, based on its extensive size options and willingness to feature women of all shapes and sizes.
Now, the website has taken yet another step toward body equality, by doing something at the forefront of every body diversity advocate’s agenda: dropping labels altogether. In doing so, the brand hopes to improve the shopping experience for everyone.
The decision to remove its plus-size section came after the site conducted a survey of 1,494 women in the U.S between the ages of 18-35, finding that 60 percent of women feel embarrassed going to a different store or section to find their size, and 79 percent say the fashion industry ignores the needs of plus-size women.
Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Susan Gregg Koger told The Huffington Post that combining all of its sizes is something the company has already had success with in its San Francisco Fit Shop. “We knew we had to translate that inclusive experience to our website and apps. Our categories should be defined by types of clothing, not bodies. Our community is the foundation of all we do at ModCloth, and our goal is to promote positivity and inspire confidence. This is another step towards body- and size-inclusivity.”
We’ll shop to that.

(AllHipHop News) It appears all the hype over Drake and Future’s collaborative project What A Time To Be Alive is waning. Drizzy Hendrix had the internet going crazy as speculation something big was coming from the two stars, and when WATTBA finally hit iTunes fans gave the project one of the biggest sales weeks of the year (334,000 pure albums).
However, week 2 was not as big for Drake and Future. The project pushed just 65,000 copies in its sophomore week. That accounts for an 81% drop in sales, one of the worst declines for a #1 album from a debut week to a second week in Hip Hop history.
Other top-selling albums to see a significant fall in sales its next week are Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park (83% – 144,000 to 25,000), Kanye West’s Yeezus (80% – 327,000 to 65,000), Jay Z’s Kingdom Come (79% – 680,000 to 140,000), and Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (78% – 496,000 to 108,000).
Drake and Future were able to remain in the Top 5 in their second week. Thanks in part to streaming totals, What A Time landed at #2. Fetty Wap’s self-titled album is currently at #1.

Meek Mill called AR-Ab a d*ck rider because he dared to speak his mind. Now the Philly rapper and known street dude has responded with a fiery diss track over Drake’s “Back To Back” instrumental.
This all started when Drizzy rapped, “I waited four days, ni**a, where y’all at?/I drove here in the Wraith playin’ AR-Ab” on his “Back To Back” diss aimed at Meek Mill.
Then Vlad TV asked AR-Ab about the situation and he basically said Meek needed to step his game up.
Clearly anything but praise is taken as hate by Meek Mill, so he proceeded to called AR a “d*ck rider” while performing in Camden, NJ (which is just outside of Philly) on Thursday night (August 6).
When AR-Ab got wind of Meek’s comments, he initially took to Twitter to respond, saying “I just hope ni**as can stand behind they words.”
Rather than rely on his Twitter fingers, AR dropped a diss track, and it’s actually has its moments.
“Why you diss me, need to diss Drake/That ni**a killed you, first 48,” spits Ar.
Listen below. Meek keeps invited the drama to his doorstep, doesn’t he? As for what Meek’s up to, hit the flip.

PANAMA CITY (AP) — Panama is joining several other Latin American nations in dropping out of the Miss Universe pageant in protest over Donald Trump’s comments about immigrants.
The Miss Panama Organization and the Telemetro television channel say that this year they won’t participate in or broadcast the Miss Universe contest partly owned by Trump.

Tech N9ne’s Special Effects album releases on Tuesday, May 4. Before then, the veteran MC whets appetites with “Wither,” featuring Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.
Here’s how Tech explains the track:
“When you’re a natural nice guy, people around you pick at you with so much with bullshit that you start getting tired,” Tech tells Loud Wire. “The good guy starts withering away. So when I was explaining it to Corey, I was like, ‘I’m slowly turning into an a–hole and I like it.’ “I don’t care, they say my angel glow is subsiding / I’m sliding outside of these high-beams and I won’t dare / Try to mend this tare / I love I’m fading / The good once there is just dying / So I’m withering away and I’ma trigger when I spray / And I’m attacking everybody till the feeling’s gone!” So much love to get disrespect in return. You gonna wither away and be like, ‘Fuck you.’”

Songstress Kehlani is quite possibly one of music’s next superstars. Taking a moment to appreciate her new mixtape, You Should Be Here, Hip-Hop Wired highlights the Chance The Rapper-assisted cut “The Way” in Wired Tracks.
The sultry tune is an early fan-favorite from the project, and justifiably so. Sonically, it’s the kind of song that could take your night from the couch to the bedroom (unless the couch is your thing). Per usual, Kehlani’s pen game is strong, and Chance meets her in the middle (no pun intended) with a verse that gives the cut a conversational vibe.

Tupac Shakur’s forthcoming biopic, “Tupac,” has experienced a slight shift as it was announced last week that “Devil In A Blue Dress” director Carl Franklin has been named to replace John Singleton as the film’s director.
According to Variety, the film’s spokesman, Greg Mielcarz, stated Singleton departed from the much-anticipated project -– after exiting in 2012 and returning in 2014 –- due to creative differences. Following the announcement the Academy Award-nominated director took to his Instagram accountto explain why he’s walking away from the developing film for the second time in three years.
Real talk! The reason I am not making this picture is because the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur. I won’t say much if you want you can read my articles in Hollywood Reporter on authenticity in Black Storytelling … To Pac’s real fans just know I am still planning a movie on Tupac … It doesn’t matter what they do mines will be better… Tupac was much more than a hip hop artist … He was a black man guided by his passions … Of most importance was his love of black people and culture … Something the people involved in this movie know nothing about… Real talk! How you gonna make a movie about a man when you suing his mother to get the rights to tell his story?! They have no true love 4 Pac so this movie will not be made with love! And that’s why my ass isn’t involved ! If Tupac knew what was going on he’d ride on all these fools and take it to the streets… But I won’t do that … I’ll just make my own project. What Yall think about that?!!
Singleton worked with the late rapper his 1993 film “Poetic Justice.” During a 2013 interview with Essence, which also commemorated the film’s 20th anniversary, Singleton recalled his fondest memories of Shakur, including his intentions to cast him for the lead role in 2001’s “Baby Boy” which was later fulfilled by actor Tyrese Gibson.
“People always idolize ‘Pac, but he was really just a brilliant yet confused young kid with a lot of fame,” he told Essence. “He had nothing to ground him, no father. He had no one to tell him ‘no’ or ‘just sit down.’ But when you did tell him something, he’d respect you. Right before he passed we just started talking again.”
“I saw him a week an a half before he went to Las Vegas and I told him I’m working on a new movie [Baby Boy, 2001] and I told him that this will be the movie that will get him an Oscar. He said, ‘Anything you want I’m there.’ He was going to be my Robert DeNiro. We were going to grow together. When you see Baby Boy now, his presence and soul are still in that movie.”
Casting for “Tupac” is set to begin in the coming months, with filming beginning later this year.
