Quincy Jones is getting his dough. The iconic musician and composer has won his lawsuit against Michael Jackson’s and has been awarded a cool $ 9.4M.
The New York Times reports that a Los Angeles jury agreed that Jones has been shortchanged for the use of music he produced in the posthumous Jackson films This Is It and a pair Cirque du Soleil shows.
Interestingly, Jones filed the lawsuit against MJ’s estate in 2013, claiming that he was owed $ 30M. The estate countered that he was owed only $ 392,000 because of an accounting error.
This is where we point out that Thriller, which Jones produced, is the first album to sell 30 million copies. Jones also produced Off The Wall.
“This lawsuit was never about Michael,” said Jones via a statement. “It was about protecting the integrity of the work we all did in the recording studio and the legacy of what we created.”

The estate of the late Michael Jackson is in talks with Sony to buy the King of Pop’s catalog. A source tells Rolling Stone that Sony ATV will “either become 100 percent owner or divest.” Sony, worth an estimated $ 2 billion and owning the rights to some 750,000 songs, has maintained a 50-50 venture between Jackson since 1995.

NEW YORK — Thursday morning’s rain drove the Made in NY event indoors, but that didn’t dampen supporters’ enthusiasm for the future of local manufacturing.
Stemming from the $ 15 million initiative New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged in February, city officials unveiled a $ 5 million Made in NY marketing campaign at Moynihan Station. Ads featuring designs by Public School, Prabal Gurung, Rosie Assoulin and others are being splashed on billboards, 600 taxi tops, 75 buses, ferry terminals and print publications. That was among the efforts that Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen noted as examples of how the New York City Economic Development Corporation is fostering local manufacturing. Attendees at the WME/IMG-hosted event also learned about a Made in NY certification program, a Made in NY pop-up shop and next month’s inaugural Made in NY awards ceremony.
Wearing a New York City-made Maiyet dress and Miriam Haskell earrings, Glen said there are more than 900 fashion companies here. “I want to make sure that New Yorkers can wear Made in NY every single day. All of us should have that. It’s not just that we want everybody to look good or to wear our pride on our sleeves.
“For rent: One-bedroom apartment available in one of Manhattan’s most desirable neighborhoods, the Upper West Side.” Countless New York real-estate listings begin this way. However, the one bedroom is really a studio with a single window featuring a beautiful view of a brick wall. The kitchen, you ask? It’s a mini-fridge with a hot plate balancing atop it. The lucky tenant of this luxury rental shares a bathroom with all her floor mates, which must make getting ready in the morning a walk in the park… And by that we mean walking through Central Park to use the public restrooms is probably a more practical option.
Sadly, listings mislead us all the time. But now and then, a brutally accurate photo will actually spare you a trip, or a bumbling landlord or broker will reveal a deal-breaking flaw. In partnership with Apartments.com, we’ve scoured Craigslist posts and MLS’s online to bring you some of the most epic real-estate listing fails.

Sure you can cook food on this fully functional stove. Too bad getting the food out of the fridge to do so is, let’s say, a challenge. This gem was originally posted on Craigslist, and, according to Reddit, the listing was for a $ 1,495-a-month studio apartment in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood.
This Hermosa Beach, California, home was on the market for $ 1.175 million — and marketed with an image of this creepy doll. Inexplicably, this wasn’t the only listing photo that the doll appeared in, either. Even more shocking is that, according to the referenced listing, the house — surely haunted — actually sold.
New York City’s Gothamist discovered the post for this strange hostel situation in a Midtown East condo. We think our favorite part of the video tour is when the guide says, “There’s two bathrooms, we’re going to expand it to two and a half bathrooms just to make sure there are never any bathroom issues.” Because waiting in line behind six other people for the bathroom (and 10 other people who need to shower) isn’t really an obstacle.
Just look at the lush green color of the lawn of this Lake Stevens, Washington, property. Now look away before you do any permanent eye damage. Forget fertilizer this year, Photoshop clearly works better. (H/T to SFGate.)
Well, at least the sellers of this property in Warren, Illinois, are honest. Fingers crossed that it has good bones. (H/T to AOL Real Estate.)
According to The Worst Room Tumblr, this shared basement in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn will only set you back $ 400 a month. You loved hanging out in the pillow fort you made in the living room as a kid, and you do enjoy camping. Now you can do it in the comfort of someone else’s home. And look, there’s even a closet, well, sort of.
Either this is a house for ants, or this photo also features the community’s very successful neighborhood watch system. According to photographer, Daniel Achatz, the agent for the listing asked him to take the dog out of the original photo, so naturally he did what any good humored photographer would do. Both Achatz and the agent shared a good laugh over the new image and the agent decided to actually post the image with the listing. Shortly after, traffic to the site spiked once again proving a giant dog is better than no dog. (H/T to AOL Real Estate.)
Some might ask, “Why is this a thing?” Or, “Was it really so hard to just put up a wall between the fridge and the john?” But for that rare multitasker who enjoys reaching into the fridge and pulling out a beverage during longer bathroom breaks, this might actually be the greatest arrangement ever. That special person asks, “Why not?” (H/T to Terrible Real Estate Agent Photos Tumblr.)

WATER WORKS: Britain’s smallest royal, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, made her official entry into the Church of England on Sunday afternoon at a christening service where she arrived in a vintage baby carriage wheeled by her mother. Prince William and Prince George of Cambridge were by the Duchess’ side, waving to the hundreds of spectators gathered outside the church.
The Cambridges arrived on foot at the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene on Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The Duchess wore an ivory Alexander McQueen coat dress and a white Jane Taylor hat with feathers.
McQueen is the label of choice for the Duchess’ milestone moments: She not only wore McQueen for her wedding, but also for Prince George’s baptism two years ago.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Right Rev Justin Welby, baptized the baby with water from the River Jordan over the 175-year-old Lily Font, which forms part of the Crown Jewels. The church, which is not far from the couple’s new home on the Queen’s estate, is where the monarch and members of the royal family celebrate Christmas each year. It is also where the baby’s maternal grandmother Diana, Princess of Wales, was baptized in 1961.
