Sies Marjan Expected to Show Men’s in Paris

Count Sies Marjan as the latest brand to make the jump from New York to Paris.
Sources said the buzzy New York-based brand will hold its first men’s-only show in June during Paris Fashion Week. The company declined to comment but an announcement is expected next week.

The label, designed by Sander Lak, a former head of design for Dries Van Noten, has historically shown men’s looks during his women’s show in New York, but a more-intense focus on its men’s collection has prompted the company to opt for the Paris runway where many of the higher-profile brands show.

Sies Marjan launched as a luxury women’s label in 2016 in New York. Lak, a Dutch native, debuted his first full men’s line for fall 2018.
Before spending five years at Dries Van Noten, Lak, a graduate of Central Saint Martins, worked at Balmain in Paris and Phillip Lim in New York. His Sies Marjan brand is known for its use of color, proportion and innovative materials.

Fetty Wap’s Album Expected To Open At #1; Drake & Future’s Sales Numbers Drop

(AllHipHop News) Fetty Wap is set to add a #1 album to his list of accomplishments this year. Billboard reports the New Jersey representative is looking to push around 110,000 equivalent album units of his self-titled LP. That should be enough to land Fetty in the pole position on the Billboard 200 album chart.

According to HitsDailyDouble, Fetty Wap only sold close to 60,000 pure albums. The rest of the 110,000 units came from track equivalent album and streaming equivalent album totals.

Last week’s top project came from Drake and Future. The duo’s What A Time To Be Alive is looking to fall to #2 on the album chart. The joint effort opened with 375,000 units (334,000 pure album sales).

The equivalent album units estimates for WATTBA have not been released yet, but the traditional album sales for the mixtape are nearing 60,000 copies. That would be an 80% drop in sales in one week.

Italy’s Fashion Industry Expected to Grow 5% in 2015

The Italian fashion industry is expected to log a 5 percent increase in revenues in 2015, reaching 64.2 billion euros, or $ 71.8 billion at current exchange, compared with 61.2 billion euros, or $ 68.5 billion, in 2014, according to the country’s Chamber of Fashion, which released its Fashion Economic Trends study on Tuesday, at the end of Milan Fashion Week. The expectation is based on a forecast of the euro exchange rate in line with the current trend. The study also expects the first half of 2016 to see a 6.5 percent increase in revenues.
Exports are expected to grow 7.1 percent to 50.2 billion euros, or $ 56.2 billion, in 2015, led by a strong performance of clothing and footwear. In the second quarter of the year, exports grew 8.8 percent, which is the best result seen in 15 quarters. The study highlighted solid business achieved on markets outside the European Union, such as the U.S. and China, especially.

I Got Divorced At 37 And Never Expected What Came Next

This Is Divorce At…” is a HuffPost Divorce series delving into divorce at every stage of life. Want to share your experience of divorcing at a certain age? Email us at

After 12 years, journalist Tracy Brown Hamilton and her husband both realized they’d become “really good friends” struggling to hold their marriage together.

At age 37 and with no children between them, Brown Hamilton and her husband decided to split.

“Within six months of our parting, we had both realized how happy we were with the decision and the gamble we took,” the writer told The Huffington Post.

Below, Brown Hamilton tells us more about the beautiful turn of events that unfolded after the divorce.

“My ex-husband and I ended our marriage over a beer, a decision we avoided for a while and for which we were both relieved — and sad and scared — to have reached.

I was 37 and we were living in Haarlem, in the Netherlands. We had no children — something I was never sure I wanted — but when you divorce at 37 it’s hard not to consider that you are closing the door on having a family.

Tracy in Paris a few months before her marriage ended.

After twelve years of what began as a romantic adventure but had started to feel like a Tom and Jerry cartoon, I thought perhaps I was too selfish to be a good partner.

Being single for the first time in what was then a third of my life, my options felt head-spinningly limitless. I could go anywhere and do anything. But mostly I sat alone on my balcony, drinking wine and smoking cigarettes.

A friend of mine — my first boyfriend, actually — was living in Shanghai at the time, and offered me his apartment while he traveled for the summer. He mailed me his keys and, in a bit of a mental fog, I went to China.

I did my best to be adventurous and open — sort of an Eat, Pray, Love cliché — but after a few days, I found myself sitting on my friend’s balcony, drinking wine and smoking cigarettes.

My only epiphany on that trip was that I wanted to go home. Ending my marriage didn’t necessitate a complete life overhaul; it just meant I had to get on with the new normal.

I returned to Haarlem, and on my first day back to work, I got fired. I spent a day in bed staring at the ceiling, wondering if truly I would end up living in my sister’s attic after all.

An English-language editor in the Netherlands, work possibilities were limited. A friend — a 50-year old Irish man– suggested I contact former colleagues in the states, and by the end of the week I had enough freelance work to sustain me.

And I got reminders from friends and former colleagues that I was competent, capable, resilient.

My Irish man and I started what we eventually called dating, but what was mostly going for walks and experimenting with cooking. We binge-watched HBO’s ‘Rome.’ We discovered and embraced our domestic selves.

We were partners. It felt good to be accountable, thoughtful, part of a team. Six months later, I was pregnant. When our son was 8 months old, I was pregnant again, and when our daughter was 8 months old, we were expecting our third child.

Tracy and her family.

I got divorced at 37, and by 40 was remarried, had launched a journalism career and had three beautiful children.

Divorce also enabled my ex and me to like each other again. We’re friends and I’m grateful.

For me, divorce at 37 meant I was equipped with enough ‘past’ — in the professional, relationship, and general maturity sense — to land on my feet, while still having enough ‘future’ to take life in a new direction.”

News in Brief: Body Breaking Down In Totally Different Order Than Man Expected

ANDOVER, MA—While saying he’d always known that “everything would fall apart eventually,” 45-year-old Bruce Lifschitz admitted his surprise to reporters Friday that his body was breaking down in a completely different order than he expected it would. “I’ve had knee pain since I was in my 20s, so I honestly thought those would be the first to cause me real problems, but nope; my back completely gave out on me out of nowhere, and now I can’t move between a sitting and standing position without it flaring up,” said Lifschitz, adding that he had also previously predicted he would be fully bald by this point, but noted with astonishment that his ongoing hair loss had been outpaced by his chronic heartburn and sharply increasing blood pressure. “I thought it was going to go: knees first, then hair, then prostate, and then maybe eyesight and memory after …
