The Eagles are one of the all-time biggest acts in popular music since the dawn of the rock'n'roll era. The band's roots go back to their role as defining artists in the phenomenally popular Southern California rock scene of the '70s, a decade in which they delivered four consecutive #1 albums. Their momentous 2004 farewell tour filled stadiums around the world, and this film captures one of the most stellar events from that now-historic global sweep.

How to Get Milo Ventimiglia’s Hair (and Mustache) From ‘This Is Us’

This Is Us is a tearjerker, almost entirely because Milo Ventimiglia’s hair just looks that damn good. (A roster of great actors helps, too.) We put Ventimiglia front and center on our November cover, a bit cleaned up by comparison to his small-screen persona—but no less rakish.

Wondering how you can replicate his long locks for yourself? We got some pointers from Justin Virgil Gramelspacher, master barber at Blind Barber in New York City. (You can find him at the East Village and Moxy Times Square locations.) Here’s what Gramelspacher taught us about Ventimiglia’s hair, and, as an added bonus, about his equally renowned mustache, too.

Milo Ventimiglia
Beau Grealy

The Kind of Hair You Need

You need to have moderately curly, wavy, or straight hair if you want to replicate this style (though the result will vary from one guy to the next), Gramelspacher says.

“It’ll need to be cut and styled based on your individual texture and density,” he says.

How Milo Ventimiglia Keeps His Cool

If you’re receding at all, don’t shy away from the look, either: He says that Ventimiglia’s cut works well on both a full or receded hairline.

What Kind of Regimen Does it Require?

You need to get yourself in a barber’s chair every 6-8 weeks in order to properly texturize the hair and reduce any bulk, Gramelspacher says. That seems counterproductive, but if you don’t clean it up as it grows, then you’ll suffer through a year of growth (and awkward hairstyles) until you reach the promised land.

He advises shampooing three times a week—no more, no less—before bed if it gets too dried out after a wash. (“This allows some of your natural oils to return overnight and your hair will be easier to tame in the morning.“)

Always follow a shampoo with conditioner to restore nutrients and softness to your hair after a drying wash. We’re fans of Blind Barber’s shampoo and conditioner.

How to Do You Style It?

“Long hair has to move but you still want it to hold a shape,” Gramelspacher says.

That means you want to avoid sticky or greasy hair products with high hold.

“For a low-commitment approach, comb sea salt spray (Verb Products Sea Spray) or clean-hold gel (Kiehl’s Grooming Solutions Clean Hold Styling Gel) through towel dried hair to set the shape, and let it air dry. Once the hair has dried, run your hands through it repeatedly to break up the stiff bonds that form. Don’t worry, the product will still be there, doing its job invisibly. Follow up with styling cream (V76 Grooming Cream Ultralight Hold) to give weight, nourishment, and separation to the hair.”

If you have thin or thinning hair, you should consider using a blow dryer (after the gel or salt spray, but before the styling cream). Gramelspacher says this is an effective way to increase density and volume.

And if you have curly hair: “Work a generous amount of anti-frizz cream (Living Proof NourishingStyling Cream) through towel-dried hair, and blow dry to activate and relax the curl for a wavier look.”

How to Transition This Cleaned-up Look Into a Grittier Style (like Ventimiglia’s character on This Is Us)

This style is kind of the longest it can be before things look a little too gritty. That being said, you can still grow it longer, but it’s advised that you continue seeing your stylist every 2 months to texturize the hair and clean up the ends—even if you want to look a little less refined. (Again, the goal isn’t to feel awkward during growth.)

Watch Milo Ventimiglia Show Off His Disney Trivia Knowledge

Milo Ventimiglia This Is Us - Season 2
NBC / Contributor / Getty Images

How to Replicate Milo’s Mustache

Mustache maintenance is pretty DIY.

“Use an electric trimmer with a number 1 or 2 guard and rake downward, with the grain, along the mustache,” Gramelspacher says. “Repeat until the bulk is even and smooth to the face. Remove the guard and use the bare blade to trim any stray hairs that extend from the bulk along the lip line.”

In this case, less is more.

9 Things We Learned from The 85 South Show on The Breakfast Club

Instagram Photo

MTV’s Wild ‘N Out might be known as the Nick Cannon show but the improv comedy series has developed a few stars in their own right, namely DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, and Chico Bean.

Though they’ve come up as individual comics they’ve recently came together to form the threesome known as The 85 South Show. An internet/traveling show, The 85 South Show has been building a core following thanks to the talents of the aforementioned comedians.

Today (Oct. 23), the three jokers checked into The Breakfast Club where they clowned around every chance they got while giving listeners some insight into how they go about their lives.

Touching on topics from sex to why Karlous Miller thinks he got fired from Wild N’ Out, the interview was all kinds of comedy.

Here are the 9 things we learned from DC Young Fly, Chico Bean and Karlous Miller on The Breakfast Club.

1. Whose Idea Was It?

DC and Chico say that forming the 85 South Show was actually Miller’s idea. Being that they hung out regardless he felt they should take their conversations on the road and make a show of it.

Where Did I Come From?

One day our Little niece Rita went up to her mother and asked, “Mom, where did I come from?”

My sister in law stammered a bit, but finally got her composure.

She thought it was time her daughter knew the facts of life. So, she told Little Rita how the expression of love resulted in the beginning of life,
how life developed in the womb and finally how a child was born. As my sister in law gave the whole story, Rita’s eyes got wider and wider.

When She was finished, Little Rita said “Wow, that’s really neat. That sure beats what Uncle Rusty told me. He said that he came from
Pennsylvania.”

Quincy Jones Says Ray Charles Got Him Hooked On Heroin, Copped From Malcolm X

Source: Celebrities attend 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party at Sunset Plaza. Featuring: Quincy Jones Where: Los Angeles, California, United States When: 02 Mar 2014 Credit: Brian To/WENN.com

Quincy Jones is spilling all types of tea this year. He is now claiming Ray Charles is the reason he had issues with heroin.

As HipHopDX notes the iconic producer is making his promotional rounds for his upcoming Netflix documentary Quincy. He recently made an appearance on the Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. While he discussed the movie and a host of other points of his storied career, one particular story is raising eyebrows.

When talking through his early days as a musician he noted how the late great Ray Charles introduced him to the white girl. “After we finished at the Washington Social Club and a couple of other ones, we’d all go down to Jackson Street to the Elks Club. That’s where all the bebop jam sessions were. Nobody got paid. We didn’t give a damn” he explained. “When they finished playing they’d go over in the corner and they had it on their thumb. I just snuck in the line and got me a little hit.”

Jones added how if he had not gotten injured he would have probably been strung out for the majority of his life. “The mistakes are what help you grow and learn,” he reminisced. “That was a big one. [If I hadn’t fallen.] I would have been in New York, where I was hanging out with [jazz musician] Charlie Parker. I would have been a junkie forever. Bird was always high. Thank God we did it and got it over with.”

The confession became even more fascinating when he detailed that he would buy his drugs in Harlem from a hustler named Detroit Red; the man who would later become Malcolm X.

Quincy is available now on Netflix. You can listen to the podcast here; the drug talk starts at the 26 minute mark.

Sotheby’s Paris Preps Fourth Auction of Books From Pierre Bergé’s Personal Library

BERGE’S BOOKENDS: If reading is the key to enlightenment, Pierre Bergé sure had a lot of books to spark his intelligence.
Sotheby’s Paris will hold the fourth auction for a selection of books from Bergé’s personal collection on Dec. 14. Several choice lots are on view at Sotheby’s New York office through Saturday, and they illustrated the myriad interests of the late French business titan: botany, gardens, philosophy, activism and more. The upcoming auction is expected to drum up between 5 million euros and 6 million euros, according to a Sotheby’s spokeswoman.
Literature, the 19th century and music were among the areas of interest covered in prior sales, with the first auction having been held nearly three years ago.
The December sale includes such highlights as Bartholomeus Anglicus’ “Le Propriétaire des choses,” circa 1486. This complete copy of a major medieval encyclopedia is illustrated with 19 large woodcuts, all hand-colored at that time. Bidders will also find Gustave Flaubert’s “Salammbô” from 1863, a first edition that was inscribed by Flaubert to the composer Hector Berlioz.
Another reading relic is Leonhart Fuchs’ “De historia stirpium commentarii insignes” from 1542 that is considered to be the founding treatise of modern botany. The auction house will also

Selections from the Poems and Plays of Robert Browning – Robert Browning

Selections from the Poems and Plays of Robert Browning

Robert Browning

Genre: Theater

Publish Date: December 11, 1889

Publisher: Public Domain

Seller: Public Domain

Mr. Gosse gives an account of the impression made by this poem upon men so diverse as the Rev. William Johnson Fox, John Stuart Mill, and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, to all of whom, in spite of its crudities and very evident immaturity, it seemed a production of exceptional promise. After an interval of two years Browning published, this time under his own name, a second long poem. The subject, Paracelsus, had been suggested by the friend, Amédeé de Ripert-Monclar, to whom the poem is dedicated. In pursuance of his purposed rehabilitation of a vanished age Browning made extensive researches in the British Museum into the history of Paracelsus, the great leader in sixteenth century medical science; but in the poem the facts are subordinated to a minute analysis of the spiritual history of Paracelsus. The poem was too abstruse in subject and style to bring Browning popularity, but his genius was recognized by important critics.

Excerpts From 6th Grade History Tests

1. The greatest writer of the Renaissance was William Shakespeare. He was born in the 1564, supposedly on his birthday. He never made much money and
is famous only because of his plays. He wrote tragedies, comedies, and hysterectomies, all in Islamic pentameter. Romeo and Juliet are an example of a
heroic couple.

2. Writing at the same time as Shakespeare was Miguel Cervantes. He wrote Donkey Hote. The next great author was John Milton. Milton wrote Paradise
Lost. Then his wife died and he wrote Paradise Regained.

3. Delegates from the original 13 states formed the Contented Congress. Thomas Jefferson, a virgin, and Benjamin Franklin were to 2 singers of the
Declaration of Independence. Franklin discovered electricity by rubbing two cats backward and declared, “a horse divided against itself can not
stand.” Franklin died in 1790 and is still dead.

4. Abraham Lincoln was America’s greatest precedent. Lincoln’s mother died in infancy, and he was born in a log cabin which he built with his own
hands. Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves by signing the Emasculation Proclamation. On the night of April 14, 1865, Lincoln went to the theater and got
shot in his seat by one of the actors in the moving picture show. They believe the assinator was John Wilkes Booth, a suposingly insane actor. This
ruined Booth’s career.

5. Johann Bach wrote a great many musical compositions and had a large number of children. Bach died from 1750 to the present. Bach was the most
famous composer in the world and so was Handel. Handel was half German, half Italian, and half English. He was very large.

6. Beethoven wrote music even though he was deaf. He was so deaf he wrote loud music. He took long walks in the forest even when everyone was calling
for him. Beethoven expired in 1827 and later died from this.

Genre: Concert Films

Price: $ 12.99

From the bone-crunching noise they make to the sexual sedition and craftily choreographed ultraviolence of their imagery, industrial rock giants Rammstein tirelessly court controversy and refuse to entertain the merest notion of compromise. They sing only in German, confuse and confound with relish and laugh at the hypocrisy of the guardians of taste. And yet, despite or because of this, they have become one of the biggest acts on the planet. Now, from one of the most extraordinary bands in rock, comes one of the most extraordinary rock films. The stunning 102-minute concertfilm includes the entirety of Rammstein's legendary concert at New York's Madison Square Garden on December 11th 2010, the show that sold out in 20 minutes and marked the band's live return to the States after a ten-year absence.

Genre: Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Price: $ 4.99

Just as exciting and intriguing as when it was first released in the 1950s, It Came from Outer Space is a classic sci-fi tale of terror and paranoia. When amateur astronomer John Putnam (Richard Carlson) and his fiancée (Barbara Rush) spot a spaceship crash-landing in the desert, the nearby townspeople refuse to believe their outlandish claim. But when locals start disappearing – only to be replaced by alien clones – it’s up to John to find out what the extraterrestrials’ real motives are before chaos consumes the town. Based on a story by acclaimed writer Ray Bradbury, it’s a fun and frantic tale about “first contact” between two curious species.

Kit Harington on Shooting ‘Game of Thrones’ in Iceland, and What He Kept From the Set

Even though Game of Thrones is one of the most critically-acclaimed television series of all time, actor Kit Harington, who plays the flowingly-haired Jon Snow on the HBO blockbuster, wasn’t so sure about the show’s chances during the 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards.

‘Game of Thrones’ Final Season: Everything You Need to Know About Season 8

It wasn’t that Harington didn’t have confidence in all the hard work the cast and crew put into Season 7, quite the opposite in fact. But after taking a year off from the awards due to eligibility issues in 2017, the actor thought the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences might not have the show in the front of their minds when it was time to give the awards out. That idea turned out to be all for naught: Game of Thrones ended up winning the award for Outstanding Drama series for the third time.

“It was exciting to be at the Emmy Awards again and to win, because we weren’t expecting to a win this time,” Harington told Men’s Journal. “We were away for a while, and I wasn’t even sure we’d get nominated, which in some ways sounds mad. But we missed a year and sometimes they’ll wait for a final season to give the awards. I thought Season 7 was brilliant, and I’m glad they recognized that.”

The 7 Most Explosive, Epic Battles in the History of ‘Game of Thrones’

Harington was front-and-center for Season 7 of the series, helping to forge alliances between warring Houses and trying to convince everyone in Westeros that they needed to fight back against the marching White Walkers beyond the Wall. The explosive, jam-packed season helped set up quite a few intriguing storylines for the final year of the show.

For as much as he’s sad that the series is ending after Season 8, Harington said that he’s thankful and lucky to have been part of the show for so long. Being on the show has catapulted Harington into stardom, and even helped him meet his wife, Rose Leslie, who played the character Ygritte on the series. The two married at Wardhill Castle in Scotland during the Summer of 2018.

“The whole experience has been incredible,” Harington says. “I’ve felt very fortunate to work with so many amazing people.”

Kit Harington
Dolce & Gabbana

Harington’s role as Jon Snow has also helped make him a global star, which is one reason why Dolce & Gabbana teamed up with the actor to make him the face of their men’s fragrances. The most recent release is The One Grey (available at Macy’s and Macys.com), a new fragrance that has bold and elegant smell, combining the scents of cardamom, vetiver, as well as hints of grapefruit, warm tobacco, and grey woods.

Harington spoke with Men’s Journal following the Emmy Awards and spoke about his experiences filming in 40-degrees below zero in Iceland, working with Dolce & Gabbana, and what he kept from the Game of Thrones set.

We know you can’t tell us any spoilers about the final season of Game of Thrones, or HBO will swoop in and kidnap us. But generally, what are you excited about and for fans to see of Season 8?

This is going to be so boring, but it’s a minefield to say anything. Even in the past when I’ve said something it gets taken the wrong way, or that I revealed something. Even if I’ll say that it’s going to be an exciting season, it’ll get put out in the wrong way. I don’t know how I’m going to deal with this when I actually have to promote the thing, but I don’t want anything to get taken wrongly. I’ll say this about Season 7, it was just brilliant to work on. The intensity of doing episodes, and getting to do more than I’ve ever done on the show, it was fantastic and a wonderful experience, and it’ll be exciting for fans to see what’s next.

The 5 Most Jaw-dropping Moments From the ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Finale

Season 7 had some of the most thrilling scenes the show has ever had, including the journey in “Beyond the Wall.” What was it like to shoot those scenes and work in the locations you’ve been able to film in?

We filmed a lot of that in Iceland. It was brutal, being out there in minus-40 degrees and the freezing wind. It can be quite an experience. Overall, I love location work. I’m more of a person that thinks there is a benefit of filming on location, whether it’s Game of Thrones or something else. You get to go to these incredible locations and step on to these amazing sets in places where people would have to pay to come visit. If you’re in film, that’s what you want to do. You can’t really complain when you are bitterly cold, because you’re in some of the most stunning places in the world like Iceland or Croatia and so on.

Jon Snow in Game of Thrones
Courtesy of HBO

Did you keep anything from the Game of Thrones set?

I actually didn’t take anything too crazy. I kept some of the armor that I use for Jon Snow’s outfit, like the wrist protectors I’ll wear in his costume. I thought those were pretty cool.

What have you enjoyed about your experience working with Dolce & Gabbana in the past and on this campaign?

It’s exciting to work on something global and to work alongside people who enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. It helps when you like the fragrance personally already when you wear it. It’s a great scent and I enjoy it. It’s kind of surreal to me to find myself walking through an airport and you see your own face staring back at you. Doing this type of stuff is a different side of work for me, because it’s not exactly acting, but you also get to be creative and performative with it, and D&G are great collaborators in that sense. Plus, you get to wear some nice suits and look great for a day [laughs].

Kit Harington
Dolce & Gabbana

You looked very sharp at the Emmys with the Game of Thrones cast. Do you have any style tips for regular guys?

I was wearing a Dolce & Gabbana suit at the Emmys, so that was fun to be able to look sharp like that. As an actor, you get a lot of help with your style, but advice-wise, I’d say that I don’t really have any tips, but for me getting dressed up is about feeling comfortable. I’d say for anyone to keep that in mind, because if you feel comfortable and feel good about yourself, you’ll look better too.
