ARLES, France — If cruise shows are all about transporting the audience, Alessandro Michele deserves the award for the most dazzling spectacle to date in a season thick with powerful imagery.
The Gucci creative director chose the Alyscamps, a Roman necropolis in the southern French city of Arles, as the setting for his show, and took full advantage of the area’s epic history with a nighttime display that transcended space and time with a trove of references ancient and modern.
Clouds of smoke and rows of church candles bathed the open-air space in a Gothic ambience, enhanced by the haunting soundtrack of Claudio Monteverdi’s “Vespers for the Blessed Virgin.”
As night fell and guests including Saoirse Ronan, A$ AP Rocky, Salma Hayek and Christian Lacroix took their places on mirrored cubes, a line of fire ignited down the central alleyway, signaling the start of the show.
The models swept out thick and fast in outfits so intricate, the eye struggled to keep pace. Michele sent out a dizzying 114 looks for women and men, mixing brand signatures — think plaid skirts, floral silk prints and tiger patterns — with outfits designed for fantasy characters ranging from rock stars to 19th-century widows.
Shrouded in velvet dresses and richly
The reinvention of Gucci Mane rolls on after the longtime East Atlanta star has morphed from celebrated trapper to a serene yet still capable talent on the mic. After penning The Autobiography of Gucci Mane book, Gucci is aiming to take his story to movie screens very soon.
A tweet from Gucci Mane on Wednesday signified the opening of the new chapter.
“#TheAutoBiographyOfGuccimane is coming to a theatre near you #DirectorGuccimane #1017Films,” read the not-so-cryptic tweet.
Now 37, Gucci’s time as a Hip-Hop artist doesn’t appear to be slowing anytime soon despite his big wins inside and outside of music. After dropping off his 12th studio album El Gato: The Human Glacier last month which was reportedly recorded over two days, there were hints he was turning that project into a film as well.
A new album, The Evil Genius, is also on the way later in the year. The typically prolific Gucci dropped off the last of his many mixtapes, Woptober, in 2016. There is no timetable set for the biopic but best believe fans are ready.
Just days after the release of his most recent album, Gucci Mane has already announced his next project, The Evil Genius.

A decade of near total creative control at Gucci and later Yves Saint Laurent saw Tom Ford at the top of his design game — critics swooned, celebrities wore and people bought, a rare trifecta in high fashion.
Ford’s rise to true design star was aided by the fact that Gucci was flailing when he came on board in 1990 to oversee women’s ready-to-wear, and didn’t really turn a corner until 1995, when Ford’s first fall collection as creative director hit the runway. The collection’s focus on bold, jet-set allure was a hit and set the brand on a path to dominate the late Nineties and early Aughts with slinky nighttime looks that mixed a little bit of grease with a lot of glamour. Ford’s tenure at the house was so successful that the revival of an ailing brand is still sometimes known as “doing a Gucci” and Natalie Massenet told WWD in 2004 that before Ford’s Gucci turnaround, ailing brands were simply left for dead. “He’s the defibrillator of fashion,” she said.
Ford also had a groundbreaking and often controversial marketing vision that gave new meaning to the age-old advertising quip: “sex sells.” In 2001, just after he’d taken the
Abundance seems to be a key word to describe Alessandro Michele’s era at Gucci.
Incredible sales, outstanding brand popularity, extensive collections and hyper-decorativism are definitely some of the elements that are marking the rebirth of the label.
Once again, Michele approached the pre-fall season — which is usually dedicated to safer, more commercial collections — with the same flamboyant, opulent, quite extreme attitude that defines his runway shows.
The brand presented a big lineup of 82 looks, which were shot by photographer Peter Schlesinger in different Roman locations, including the aula magna of the Dental Hospital George Eastman and the Hotel Mediterraneo, all previously used by Dario Argento for his horror movies.
Michele’s signature cinematic approach highlighted the quintessential eclecticism of the collection, which, while touching many different notes, was still so coherent and cohesive.
The Roman designer easily shifted from bourgeois bon ton to hip street glam. His nonsense grammar rules actually enabled him to build his own language, which is not only spoken within his reign but is actually becoming an international fashion idiom.
Clothes-wise, the lineup was extremely inclusive. Windbreakers, separates splashed with the Flora pattern, embroidered oversize college cardigans, bold tracksuits, as well as an array of jackets and skirts coming in

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has revealed that British singer-songwriter Annie Lennox will perform at its seventh annual Art + Film Gala, which takes place Nov. 4. The star-studded fund-raiser is cochaired by Leonardo DiCaprio and Eva Chow and this year honors artist Mark Bradford and filmmaker George Lucas.
Lennox also performed at the Gucci cruise after party in London last year. The Italian fashion house is the presenting sponsor of the event.
“Annie Lennox is one of the most iconic artists of our time and an incredible humanitarian,” said LACMA trustee Chow. “Her songs are timeless, and we are ecstatic to have her at this year’s Art + Film Gala.”
Lennox, an internationally acclaimed musical artist and human rights activist, rose to fame in partnership with Dave Stewart as Eurythmics in the early Eighties with the classic album “Sweet Dreams are Made of This.” In the decade to follow, Eurythmics went on to achieve more than 20 international hits, selling more than 80 million albums. In 1992, Lennox released her solo album “Diva,” which sold more than 6 million copies worldwide and establishing her career as a solo artist.
Lennox has received numerous accolades, including eight BRIT Awards (including a Lifetime

Lionhead pendants, lacy see-through tops, gold pleated skirts and romantic floral embroideries comprised the dress code at Gucci’s San Francisco bash, held Tuesday evening at hot spot Octavia. The Vogue-hosted event paid homage to new creative director Alessandro Michele. Among the guests were artist Stevie Howell, Carolyn Chang, Sabrina Buell, Anne V., Lauren Ford and Kaitlyn Trigger.
“I’m crushing on this new fun and feminine version of Gucci because it offers romance and it’s a reminder of softer times,” said architect Abigail Turin as she twirled in her pleated gold skirt black top, brooch and her grandmother’s black taffeta evening clutch, all Gucci. “These pieces are so versatile. I could wear this gold skirt with a T-shirt to a beach party.”
Art dealer Jessica Silverman, a host for the evening, found her personal style in a new navy jacket with white piping and narrow jeans. “The art world is so exciting now and every day is intense so I love to dive into the world of fashion,” said Silverman, whose Tenderloin gallery and emerging artists are favorites of Silicon Valley art collectors. “Fashion is fantasy.”

AS IS CUSTOM: Gucci continues on with its retail collaborations.
After developing partnerships with Dover Street Market in New York and London, as well as Boon the Shop in Seoul and Antonia in Milan, the Florentine fashion house has customized Dover Street Market Ginza’s Elephant Room in Tokyo with an installation conceived by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele.
The designer covered the room’s walls, floor and iconic elephant sculpture with the GG blossom pattern.
“This is one of the best elephant spaces we have ever seen. This space always works best when there is a conversation or a connection between the elephant and what is being installed or exhibited,” said Dover Street Market international chief executive officer Adrian Joffe. “Gucci has designed a space where the connection is primal, where the conversation is visceral and the effect is stunning.”
The room also hosts tailors’ busts and chairs displaying key pieces from Gucci’s cruise collection.

LACMA LINKS WITH GUCCI AGAIN: If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. In the case of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Gucci, if it’s glamorous and philanthropic, amplify the attention even more with another acclaimed artist and Oscar-winning director.
Collaborating on the Art+Film Gala for the fifth year in a row, LACMA and Gucci plan to honor James Turrell and filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu at the Nov. 7 celebration. Continuing as co-chairs since the inauguration of the annual fundraiser in 2011, actor Leonardo DiCaprio and LACMA trustee Eva Chow are overseeing the event, which has raised more than $ 14.3 million for the museum over the years.
For Turrell, the distinction marks his return to LACMA. Michael Govan, the museum’s chief executive officer, cocurated his recent retrospective that started at LACMA and then traveled the world.
Iñárritu won three Academy Awards for directing, cowriting and coproducing “Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” which was named Best Picture. He is working on his next film, “The Revenant,” costarring DiCaprio and Tom Hardy in an epic about revenge and adventure in the 19th century American frontier.

Only six months ago, Alessandro Michele was promoted from head accessories designer at Gucci to his new post as the label’s creative director. In short, it was huge news.
The lofty position obviously drew a white-hot spotlight to his first major collection, Fall 2015. Michele quickly impressed critics with his ’70s-inspired, relaxed luxury designs — and fashion insiders and fans alike have been waiting for the collection’s campaign.
Well, the wait is over. We’re thrilled to offer an exclusive first look at Gucci’s Fall 2015 campaign.
“I wanted to bring my creative vision to life through this advertising campaign, the first one featuring my collections,” Michele told The Huffington Post. “I decided to go back to the streets, as with the Cruise collection I just showed in New York. I believe there is a fluid and organic contamination that exists between the catwalk and the street. Fashion, especially ready-to-wear, is something real, made for everyday and for everyone to express their own creativity and individuality.”
Floral printed logo handbags, ruffled frocks and fur-lined loafers certainly speak to that mission. The campaign was photographed by Glen Luchford, who captured models Tessa Charlotte Bruinsma, Tobias Lundh, Lia Pavlova, and Sven de Vries dressed in the eye-catching designs in an urban backdrop — a place of “unexpected events, rifts, remnants and amnesias” and a place for “mingling of reality and desire,” Michele said in a press release.
Make sure to check out a preview of Gucci’s Fall 2015 commercial at the top of this post, and let us know what you think of the campaign in the comments section.

In 2011, Gucci Mane got an Ice Cream cone tatted on is face and today Young Thug put his on display by way of instagram.

The exhibit opened on Saturday May 30. On May 31, Young Thug posted the picture of his face with the Gucci Tat. Our sources have indicated that the “tattoo” was some sort of temporary situation from the Gucci art jammie jam.
