Gwyneth was sun-kissed and smiling as she greeted guests in a Proenza Schouler romper last night at her Amagansett home for a sundown celebration of Goop and Net-a-Porter. Arriving by golf cart down a long gravel drive, Cynthia Rowley, Lisa Gersh, Jennifer Fisher, Molly Sims, Clare Vivier, and more descended on the lawn.
Carte Blanche, a six-piece jazz ensemble, took the stage under two blossoming trees speckled with large wicker lamps. Guests sipped cocktails under string lights, swaying in the salted breeze, while Apple and Moses bounced around the garden with friends and their father Chris Martin.
Cynthia Rowley, who plans to spend the remainder of her summer surfing in Montauk with her stunning daughter Kit (who “shreds” waves), is a huge fan of Goop: “I really trust everything—the recipes, heath, wellness, and shopping.”
Sarah Rutson, vice president of global buying for Net-a-Porter, hadn’t been to the Hamptons in 30 years, but quickly adjusted to the seaside pace, as evidenced by her white linen Isabel Marant dress and pre-dinner toast: “The Hamptons are about relaxing, and Goop taught me how to optimize my yawn reflex.” And now, with Net-a-Porter’s recently introduced same-day delivery service in the Hamptons, “between both of the brands, we’ve got this relaxation thing down.” When Rutson packed her bikini top but left her bottoms at home, she used the service herself. “I believe that our delivery vans got out here faster than I did, so we’re doing something right!”
When the night turned chilly, Jennifer Fisher—the only designer on Net-a-Porter’s Style Council and a partner with Goop—was prepared. “I brought coats in the trunk of my car because I knew friends would be cold!”
Guests sat down to three long tables dressed with raw linen and blue hydrangeas as the sun began to set, and a dashing team of all-male waiters delivered each course in perfect synchronization. The feast began with summer tomatoes, herbs and field greens, grilled ricotta salata, and smoky tomato vinaigrette. Next, guests ate Atlantic sablefish with fresh corn polenta, spring onion mash, lump crab salad, and elote con crema. And for dessert, a blueberry brown butter tart with blueberry mousse, lemon crème fraîche, and toffee sauce.
This perfect pairing made for a cheerful, intimate evening, and guests continued to hang out well into the night—taking in the live music and the sweet smell of blossoming privet.
