Hugo Boss Teams With Jeremyville on Holiday Capsule

Every year, Hugo Boss commissions an artist to create a special collection to commemorate the Chinese New Year and the holiday season. Some years it’s easier, like 2018, the Year of the Dog, when the German brand worked with artist Julian Meagher to create Playforever, a collection centered around race cars where a dog is featured in the driver’s seat.
But 2019 will be the Year of the Pig, which creative director Ingo Wilts admitted “was a little bit challenging. How can we do Hugo Boss and a pig in a fun way?”

The sneakers are printed with pigs and other characters.

But when the brand found New York City-based artist Jeremyville, he soon put its fears to rest. The artist offered up a colorful cityscape featuring an array of characters, including pigs, that the brand put on accessories such as bags and shoes as well as apparel. The characters were printed onto leather accessories in a relief design, a leather backpack features a Jeremyville rabbit, and a sneaker has a raised pig motif. There are also dress shirts, sweatshirts, tees and bombers as well as figurines, charms and iPhone cases.

Welcome to Grey Gardens…as you've never seen it before. Three years before the Maysles' landmark documentary introduced the world to Edith and Edie Beale—the unforgettable mother-daughter (and Jackie O. relatives) living in a decaying dream world on Long Island—renowned photographer Peter Beard chronicled life at their crumbling estate during one summer in 1972. For the first time ever, director Göran Olsson (The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975) assembles this long-lost footage—featuring glimpses of luminaries like Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger, and Truman Capote—into a one-of-a-kind family portrait bursting with the loving squabbles, quotable bon mots, and impromptu musical numbers that would make Big and Little Edie beloved cultural icons.

Hugo Boss Awards Parsons Students in Circular Systems, Strategy Course With Prizes

YOU’RE THE BOSS: Students at Parsons School of Design at The New School in New York have been honing their sustainable fashion design and innovation skills with the help of Hugo Boss.
The partners tested the waters with a workshop last year. To encourage exchange between different disciplines, the project was open to students in various areas of the school from fashion design to business. At Wednesday night’s graduate exhibit opening at the New York school, Hugo Boss announced the winners of its Circular Systems and Strategy course. Twenty students participated in the 16-week program, which is part of the company’s partnership with Parsons.
The $ 12,000 first prize, Boss One, was awarded to Annabella Waszkiewicz, Gwyneth Ong and Jose Luis Cabrera. The $ 6,000 second-place Boss Skeleton went to Elijah Devries, Camilla Hopkinson, Irene Lu, Alex O´Brien and Lara Tang. The $ 3,000 Boss Mention was given to Chenyu Wang, Haoyu Chen and Monika Mikhail. Their concepts will be displayed in one of the Boss stores in New York this year. All participants will have the opportunity to extend their work experience with the global fashion group. Hugo Boss’ former artistic director of women’s wear Jason Wu attended Parsons.

Hugo Boss Gets a Makeover

DUBAI — Hugo Boss is making efforts to bridge the gap between the brand’s men’s and women’s lines. “We need to bring the woman closer to the [Boss] man and build on our heritage — it’s suiting, it’s precision,” Ingo Wilts, chief brand officer for Hugo Boss, told WWD while here to celebrate the opening of the brand’s new generation store at Mall of the Emirates.
“We have to rebuild the women’s. Our woman always has to be feminine and sensual but she also has to be sexy. I think the mistake we did over the past years, we went a little left, right and center,” said Wilts, who is responsible for all creative and brand management.
“We do need to address the younger customer in our product.”
But he added that they will be driven by styling, not age first and foremost. “You can dress a younger woman with the same product as you dress an older woman. It depends on the styling. The younger woman might wear a skirt with a sneaker and the older woman with a more high heel.” He admitted that overall the brand for women in particular has skewed old. “We want, like everyone wants, to speak

Jean Valjean spent nineteen years in prison — five for stealing bread, fourteen for trying to escape. Valjean tries to make a new life for himself, but he cannot escape the stigma of his past, nor the oppressive watch of the cold-hearted Inspector Javert. Fantine is a working class woman barely scraping together enough for herself and her young daughter Cosette. Both mother and daughter are exploited by the greedy innkeeper Thénardiers, who keeps demanding more and more money. Fantine’s health begins to deteriorate, and in her desperation she begins to consider prostitution.  These are but two of the unfortunate souls from Victor Hugo’s massive novel about rebellion, redemption, authority, romance, and justice. Les Misérables is a rich, complex, profound, and heart-breaking work of historical fiction, and one of the greatest novels of all time.  This includes all five volumes, as well as illustrations by Émile Bayard. Also, many of the more poetic passages are preserved in the original French, side-by-side with an English translation. (Can't do that on Kindle!)

Hugo Boss Going Fur-Free

BOSS GOING FUR-FREE: After a year of negotiating with The Humane Society of the United States and The Fur Free Alliance, Hugo Boss has agreed to stop using fur as of fall 2016. FFA is a coalition of 40 animal protection organizations in 28 countries trying to end the fur trade.
In a Q&A in Boss’ 2014 Sustainability Report, Hugo Boss brand and creative director of sportswear Bernd Keller said, “[Hugo Boss has] decided to adopt a different route and we are therefore giving our sustainable corporate strategy — in this case, animal protection — precedence over the ‘fast’ and ‘simple’ route to success. We are delighted to embrace innovative challenges in relation to the planning and design of a collection.”
PJ Smith, corporate outreach manager for The Humane Society of the U.S. fur-free campaign, said, “It’s especially significant because Boss is a luxury brand, and it may have a catalytic effect with other clothing companies appealing to high-end consumers.”
