The late Dwayne McDuffie (All-Star Superman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) penned this epic story of heroism and betrayal based on the critically-acclaimed, best-selling Justice League graphic novel. Directed by Lauren Montgomery (Superman Doomsday, Green Lantern: First Flight) and produced by Emmy®-winning animation legend Bruce Timm, this apocalyptic tale details the nefarious plot of villain Vandal Savage, who discovers Batman's contingency plan to defeat the Justice League should any of them go rogue.
Now, backed by his own army of supervillains, Savage sets out to take down the Justice League one hero at a time! Featuring Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg and Nathan Filion reprising their roles as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern respectively, this animated saga also features the voice work of Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum, Olivia d'Abo (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and more.

Texas Justice

Arlington, TX (AP) – A seven-year old boy was at the center of a Tarrant County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who
should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with
child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge
then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took
the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Dallas Cowboys
Football Team [GCFL: replace with your least favorite team], whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

A mysterious castaway. A Scottish hero determined to protect her. Can they survive the storm? Cast adrift on the Indian Ocean, Maria carries a terrible secret. Wherever she goes, death soon follows, and she's powerless to prevent it. William McGregor boarded the SS Trevessa in search of adventure, but he gets more than he bargained for when he saves the mysterious Maria from the sea. She can't tell them her tragic tale, so the superstitious sailors make up their own stories – and some would sacrifice her to the waves to save themselves from the coming storm. When the sharks start circling and the storm closes in, are sirens more than just a myth? A tiny taste of what's in store: My defiance was futile. What did it get me? A small raft drifting across the Indian Ocean, with nothing but the sound of waves and the smell of salt and coal-smoke. Smoke meant a ship. I was saved. I squinted into the sunlight, but the waves hid the vessel from me. Maybe I was looking the wrong way. I didn't have the strength to sit up and see. Rough hands seized me. I struggled, but my weakness won. Blue eyes drifted above, the same colour as the ocean below. A tangle of wiry seaweed obscured the rest of the man's face. "It's all right, lass. I'll take care of you." Darkness took me first. Turbulence and Triumph The Turbulence and Triumph series is set in the same world as the modern-day Ocean's Gift series, but in the past. “Justice” Through My Eyes by Unnamed Child

On Saturday October 10, 2015, I had the privilege to travel to Washington, DC with a busload of twenty-seven people to commensurate the 20 year anniversary of the Million Man March.  The after-school program, which I am the Program Director, Young Scholars in Service @ Connexions:  A Community Arts Based School in West Baltimore sponsored the excursion.  Like a million plus men twenty years ago, I attended the original march.  And I have repeatedly stated that the Million Man March in 1995 influenced me to become an educator and serve my community in a greater capacity.  But my excitement to attend this march this time wasn’t for personal gain or gratification, rather, I wanted to see how the march would impact the lives of the young people who would be in attendance with us.

The youth who traveled with us were awaken as early as 5am in the morning, to arrive at our bus departure location in West Baltimore to begin traveling to DC at 6:15am.  We wanted to arrive as early as possible to avoid traffic and to also position ourselves close to the stage.  As we boarded the bus, I was trying to gauge the temperature of our youth.  Were they excited?  Were they nervous?  Were they still sleepy?  What’s the mood of our young people?

Our children were prepped for the trip to Washington, DC in advance.  We had several people, myself included, speak to students to get them excited about attending 10-10-15.  But unlike the first march when Minister Louis Farrakhan himself traveled from every major city to every other major city to galvanize the people support with one consistent message from his voice, this time many spoke and the message was not as consistent.  So the expectation of the day’s event was not thoroughly understood and left for interpretation.

Nevertheless, we went to the march and became part of a historical moment.  We peacefully stood in solidarity with hundreds of thousands of people.  Side by side stood men, women, and children as attentive as soldiers.  And we listened to speaker after speaker.  Personally, I was inspired and motivated by all who spoke, to return home to continue to do the work necessary to improve the conditions in the community I live and serve in.  However, as I stated earlier, this moment wasn’t about me.  Instead, this was more about our youth.  So when we returned to Baltimore, I asked our young people in tow to share with me their feelings and thoughts in writing, about their experience.  I collected papers yesterday and today I’d like to share with you words from the mouth of a child:

“Saturday I went to the Million Man March.  I mainly went there because I heard celebrities would be there and there would be free food.  My peers told me that it would be a historic march and we would be part of history.  I had a few doubts, thinking if stuff hasn’t changed for a long while then this march wouldn’t change things.  However, I tried to hold judgment, hoping that maybe, just maybe this march would actually change things for the better.  So I went to the march Saturday with some other students.  We got to DC and listened to the speakers at the march.  The speakers talked about the many issues facing black people and Native American and Latinos.  They talked about MANY injustices that have happened against black people, some of which I didn’t even know about.  I stood and listened to them speak.  None of their words stuck with me and I just became bored.  After the whole speech, I was overall disappointed.  In my opinion, they just repeated many of the things they have said throughout the many months and years.  Look, I understand African-Americans have gone through hell and back to get where they are today.  I understand that they have been horribly mistreated.  But nowadays when I hear people on TV speaking about the mistreatment of black people I really don’t pay it much attention.  I feel like all they do is talk about issue after issue without talking about a solid, strategic solution to solve the problem.  That’s what it felt like Saturday at the march.  They talked about issues, they talked about how people have succeeded doing this and that, but never did the present a solid plan on how to make things better.

They talked about how black people need to join together, stop hating on each other and be at peace with each other.  So let’s say black people really do join up in unity, then what?  Are they going to protest?  Join together for another speech?  What is the plan?  I’ve seen people protest and making speeches, but where does that get us?  I understand it is meant as a way to be seen and heard by all, but I feel like they resort to protesting and speeches instead of coming up with a real plan that targets the people who can really make change in this country.  I’m talking about a plan that brings change through a strategic nonviolent way.  I’m sick of seeing all this protest and not seeing any significant results.  I feel like there is a way for black people to get what they want.  There is always a way to get what you want, you just have to sit down and really think of the best way to do it.  Until that really happens we will be stuck in the current state we are in.  I don’t believe the issues facing black people will ever end in the world we live in, it just doesn’t seem possible.  However, I believe there are measures we can take to temporarily solve our current problems until the next problem arises.  I don’t know all the fact about the race problem in our county and I’m sure I’m missing a bit of stuff, but this is just how I see things through my eyes.”

EBro Angry Major News Sources Ignored Justice Or Else March

This past weekend millions gathered in Washington D.C. for the Justice or Else movement lead by the Nation of Islam. Joining together for a positive movement to foster justice and peace millions of people from all walks of life gathered in peace. But while many gathered very few news sources covered the peaceful gathering. E-Bro said, “this year had a different vibe,” when recapping the march on Monday’s Hot97 morning show.

E-Bro said the movement was all “positive,” but that he was sad about the fact that everyone was coming together due to police brutality and continued violence against Blacks.

“While it was positive, I did have a feeling of sadness,” E-Bro lamented, “Because now here we are 20 years later gathering because we are being victimized, criminalized and mass incarcerated, and trying to stand up for ourselves, against oppression still. 20 years later.”

Also in attendance showing support were Snoop, Diddy, J-Cole, Jeezy, Dave Chappelle, Common and Jay Electronica. Take a listen as E-Bro kicks that knowledge!

Danielle Stewart

Genre: Suspense

Publish Date: November 3, 2014

Publisher: Danielle Stewart

Seller: Danielle Stewart

Piper Anderson has been given a fresh start in the picturesque town of Edenville, North Carolina. But her plans of settling into a normal life are derailed when she witnesses a prominent judge in her community committing a violent assault. Running from her own past and fueled by a passion to make the judge answer for his crimes, Piper is forced to decide if she’ll play by the rules or achieve justice in her own way.  Complicating things further, Piper finds herself fighting a powerful attraction to rookie cop, Bobby Wright. Although she’s increasingly enamored with Bobby, his staunch belief in the justice system is in stark contrast to her own. She may not share his opinions about the effectiveness of the law, but she certainly can’t deny how safe she feels when she’s in his arms or how every kiss leaves her desperate for more.  For Piper, the idea of finally living an ordinary life with a man to love is tempting. However, fate keeps placing the judge, quite literally, in her path. Will she decide the only way to win is to be as wicked as the judge, but with righteous intentions? And more importantly, will Bobby choose to let her go, or follow her as she crosses the line and takes justice into her own hands?

What I Learned From The Trailer To “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”

Over the weekend, the DC Comics Nation sent dropped an atomic bomb at San Diego Comic con with the release of the official trailer to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. After watching it a couple thousand times, along with the millions of others, I have come to find a few things (along with the rest of the world). This is what I have concluded – check it out!

1) Yes, it looks as if it will be epic. Look at the trailer again.

2) Batman Will Be Brooding and Brooding and Brooding…

Batman has always been the darkest, acclaimed character DC has produced and “Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice” will be a broodfest. Check the pictures out.

“MF…I can brood!”

2.5) Robin is dead.

The Joker is around the corner. Believe that.

2.5) Superman Will Be Brooding Too

Even as Clark Kent…I’m moody!

3) Batman Will Kick A$ $ !

If you know comics, you know that Batman has the capability to beat Superman. How this will play out in BVS remains to be seen.

//

6) DC will again…delve into Batman’s origin…yesagain.

Batman’s tortured origin is as much of history as real history. Man, woman and child know he lost his parents as a boy, was consumed by it and become a vigilante because of it. Hopefully they don’t over do it.

7) There will be weird sh*t in there – #1.

This weird Lex Luther that is considerably younger than both Batman and Superman. AND he has a lot of hair, which will probably go bye-bye from hanging out with Kryponite so much. Also, what is with “the red capes are coming?” stuff? Are they just looking to be odd ball for the sake of being odd ball? For the record, that’s not always a bad thing.

8) There will be weird sh*t in there – #2.

Why is Batman in some sort of vintage get up fighting thugs with Superman’s “S” on it? Let me find out Supes got thugs on the payroll. Certainly this will get explained and yet…I don’t have any reference for it. Maybe these are the red capes…with no capes.

Okay, but what's going on here?

9) This will be one dark movie.

It looks REALLY dark.

Superman from the 80’s was a pretty happy dude. Historically, Batman wasn’t nearly as dark until Frank Miller got to him in the Dark Knight graphic novel series (he gets a brief look in the movie: seen below). This move looks to take a nod for Hollywood’s love for dystopia. Hey, I love those moves – no pushback here!

10) DC seeks to give Marvel a run, but I can’t help but think they are bat-winging it a little bit.

Certainly they are getting it together and “Batman vs Superman” looks stunning. However, many of us still remember “Dark Knight Rises,” where the Dark Knight seemingly was obliterated and broke. Zod pops up in the trailer too. Suddenly, Bruce Wayne just happens to be in Metropolis when Superman and General Zod destroy the city, killing thousands? He’s mad at Superman, knowing that Zod was the real reason for the mass destruction? Yes, he has personal reasons, but still… Then there’s a glimmer of a random Aqua Man looking fellow swimming. I don’t know, but it is a great conversation piece for us all to brood over over. After millions and millions of views, fanfare to match and DC (and Marvel) heads screaming victory…this movie is already a hit.

Until 2016, we ponder.

George Takei Calls Justice Clarence Thomas A ‘Clown In Blackface’ Over Marriage Equality Dissent

George Takei has come under fire this week for calling Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas a “clown in blackface” over the judge’s stance on marriage equality. However, the “Star Trek” actor insists that his comment was not racially motivated.

During an interview with Fox 10 Phoenix, Takei, who is gay, discussed the Supreme Court’s recent landmark ruling to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. Takei said he was “angry” at Thomas, who dissented to the decision, for his position on the issue.

“He is a clown in blackface sitting on the Supreme Court,” said Takei. “He gets me that angry. He doesn’t belong there.”

In his dissent, Thomas, who is black, wrote that “human dignity cannot be taken away by the government,” adding: “Slaves did not lose their dignity (any more than they lost their humanity) because the government allowed them to be enslaved. Those held in internment camps did not lose their dignity because the government confined them.”

Takei, whose family was held inside a Japanese internment camp during World War II, took issue with this logic.

“For him to say slaves have dignity, I mean, doesn’t he know that slaves were in chains? That they were whipped on the back?” Takei said. “My parents lost everything that they worked for in the middle of their lives, in their 30s. His business, my father’s business, our home, our freedom and we’re supposed to call that dignified?… This man does not belong on the Supreme Court. He is an embarrassment. He is a disgrace to America.”

In the wake of the interview, Takei has been slammed for what has been called a “racist” comment — an accusation that the 78-year-old fiercely rejects.

On Thursday, he wrote on Facebook:

A few fans have written wondering whether I intended to utter a racist remark by referring to Justice Thomas as a "clown…

Posted by George Takei on Thursday, July 2, 2015

Takei elaborated on his thoughts in a op-ed for MSNBC.

“To say that the government does not bestow or grant dignity does not mean it cannot succeed in stripping it away through the imposition of unequal laws and deprivation of due process. At the very least, the government must treat all its subjects with equal human dignity,” he wrote. “It seems odd that Justice Thomas, as an African American, would be an opponent of marriage equality. His own current marriage, if he had sought to have it some fifty years ago, would have been illegal under then-existing anti-miscegenation laws. I cannot help but wonder if Justice Thomas would have felt any loss of dignity had the clerk’s office doors been shut in his face, simply because he was of a different race than his fiancée.”

Thomas is married to attorney Virginia Thomas, who is white.

William Shatner, who has been known to “feud” with Takei online, defended his “Star Trek” co-star on Twitter.

In October 2008, a few months after California became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage (and a few weeks before Proposition 8 made it illegal again), Takei and his longtime partner Brad Altman tied the knot in Los Angeles.

The couple have been together for almost 30 years.

Former Rep. Barney Frank: Justice Scalia Is A Homophobe

Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people won two victories in the Supreme Court today. We expected the big one: the fourth in a series of opinions by Justice Anthony Kennedy—one of the last sitting Reagan appointees—vindicating our right to legal equality. The unexpected one was smaller in public impact but also significant: Justice Antonin Scalia’s disclaimer that he is not personally troubled by the fact that we can marry each other. After a series of opinions, speeches and public comments expressing his strong disapproval of us, vigorously defending society’s right to express this attitude in discriminatory public policies, Scalia begins his characteristically vitriolic dissent by protesting that “the substance of today’s decree is not of immense personal importance to me.

News in Brief: Report: Only 47,000 Social Justice Milestones To Go Before U.S. Achieves Full Equality

WASHINGTON—Following the Supreme Court’s landmark decision making same-sex marriage legal nationwide, sources confirmed Friday that only 47,000 social justice milestones need to be reached before the U.S. achieves full equality. “This is a watershed moment for civil rights that finally brings the dream of living in an equitable society one tiny fraction of a step closer to reality,” said civil rights lawyer Helene Najjar, adding that the country could now turn its attention to closing the income gap, ending racial discrimination in law enforcement, and providing equal educational opportunities for all children, among tens of thousands of other issues. “We have been striving for this victory for decades, and we will continue to fight for a more just society until we have reached all 47,000 human rights milestones that still need to be achieved. This win proves that we are inching toward living in a …

News in Brief: Struggling Justice Alito Sent Down To Lower Federal Court

WASHINGTON—Following weeks of declining performance within the nation’s highest judicial body, the Supreme Court announced Thursday that it has sent a struggling Associate Justice Samuel Alito down to a lower federal court. “Sammy’s been a little cold with his dissenting opinions lately, so we’ve assigned him to a minor appellate jurisdiction until he can better contribute to this court,” Chief Justice John Roberts told reporters, confirming that Alito had been removed from the Supreme Court’s nine-person roster and appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. “Obviously, Sammy is a veteran legal scholar who has played a deciding role in several high-profile cases, but until he regains his stroke, we need to go with someone who can best interpret statutory law as set out by the U.S. Constitution. But we’re confident that he only needs to author a few …

AMC, Regal, Cinemark Theaters Probed By Justice Department For Antitrust Violations

(Repeats to add slug with no change to text)

June 2 (Reuters) – Movie theater chain Cinemark Holdings Inc said it had received formal inquiries from the U.S. Department of Justice related to an antitrust probe, a day after larger cinema operators Regal Entertainment Group and AMC Entertainment Holdings received similar notices.

Cinemark said it received a Civil Investigative Demand from the DoJ’s antitrust division related to an investigation on matters including joint ventures and film clearances. (http://1.usa.gov/1BIJJjL)

Film clearances are exclusive deals signed between large movie theater chains and film studios to limit the number of theaters allowed to screen certain movies, especially blockbusters. This keeps big movies out of smaller independent chains’ reach, consumer affairs blog Consumerist said.

Houston-based Viva Cinema sued AMC Entertainment on April 20, saying AMC had coerced distributors to not licensing their films to it, which resulted in the theater’s closure nearly seven months after its opening.

The DoJ is investigating whether the three top theater chains violated the Sherman Act, a federal antitrust law, and has requested the companies to answer its questions and produce documents.

Cinemark said it also received a second civil investigative demand from the Attorney General of Ohio. Both Regal and AMC received similar notices.

All three companies said they did not believe they violated federal or state antitrust laws. (Reporting by Anya George Tharakan in Bengaluru; Editing by Don Sebastian)

Liberty & Justice Launching Uniform to Dress Students in Liberia

Liberty & Justice, Africa’s first fair trade apparel maker, is launching Uniform, a T-shirt label that will donate one school uniform to a child in Liberia for every T-shirt the company sells.
L&J founder and chief executive officer Chid Liberty was born in Liberia but grew up in Germany, where his foreign diplomat father was based in Bonn. After falling out with the then-Liberian president Samuel Doe, the elder Liberty fled to the U.S., living first in Palo Alto and then in Milwaukee, Chid Liberty said Thursday. Inspired in part by Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s 2006 election win, Liberty returned to Liberia for the first time in decades and decided to try to help further change. In 2010, he opened the Liberty & Justice factory, manufacturing for such labels as Prana and Lauren Bush’s FEED brand. The facility now employs 300 workers who share 49 percent equity. Ninety-five percent of the team are working mothers.
Trying to build on that bedrock, Uniform’s Liberian-made T-shirts will be sold for 45 days on Kickstarter starting June 2. Through a partnership with the United Nations and Liberia’s Ministry of Education, the company’s initial goal of raising $ 50,000 would provide 2,000 uniforms to students in

Dear Justice Alito: Here’s What Homosexuality Was Really Like In Ancient Greece

In Tuesday’s Supreme Court hearings, which will determine whether the Constitution protects same-sex marriage and if states must recognize marriages from other states, notoriously conservative Justice Samuel Alito argued that it’s possible to approve of gay relationships but not same-sex marriage, using Ancient Greece as an example in which homosexual relationships were “well accepted within certain bounds.”

So we at HuffPost Live wanted to dig a little deeper to see if, in fact, Justice Alito had a point. Turns out, it’s a little more complicated than that. In the video above, Thomas Hubbard, a professor of Greek and Roman literature at the University of Texas and editor of Homosexuality in Greece and Rome, discusses same-sex relationships in Ancient Greece and what our gay brothers and sisters from way back when may have thought about same-sex marriage.
