Abercrombie Offers Unisex Collection for Kids

Abercrombie Kids has unveiled its first unisex collection for spring.
The gender-neutral line is called Everybody Collection, and is now available both in stores and online. The line, which features 25 styles, is comprised of tops, bottoms and accessories influenced by skate and streetwear cultures. The product is carried in a single size system — 5/6 up to 15/16 — for both boys and girls. Graphic Ts are $ 19.95, while hoodies average $ 39.95. A bomber jacket is $ 69.95, while accessories such as slide sandals are $ 24.95.
A division of Abercrombie & Fitch Co., the kids line routinely conducts customer focus groups. Through its engagement with consumers, the division seeks to provide product that meets customers’ needs. Abercrombie said that through these interactions, the merchandising team gained insight that “many customers, when shopping across genders, do not necessarily want to be restricted to certain styles and colors.”
Stacia Andersen, brand president of Abercrombie & Fitch and Abercrombie Kids, said, “Parents and their kids don’t want to be confined to specific colors and styles, depending on whether shopping for a boy or a girl. Our Everybody Collection is one assortment, in one size run, that covers the trends we are seeing in both color and style.”

My Wife & Kids Star Parker McKenna Posey Is Now A Certified Dime | Bangin Candy [Photos]

Child stars grow up to be adults. That’s just the circle of life. What happens with the actor or actress after they move on from the show that gave them their first taste of fame depends on upbringing, focus and sometimes a bit of luck.

In the case of Parker McKenna Posey, the former cute and cuddly kid who starred as Kady Kyle opposite Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell-Martin on the popular 2000s sitcom My Wife and Kids, time has been extremely kind to all of her attributes. Since the show ended in 2005, Posey has scooped up numerous roles on made-for-TV films to keep her skills sharp and it appears she hasn’t even begun to scratch the surface on her full potential.

Now 20-years-old, the young starlet has gained a sizeable following on her social media accounts because quite frankly, she looks damn good. However there is a fine line between flaunting ones asset and just being plain thirsty for attention. Thankfully, PKP knows how to make her selfies look classy and sexy simultaneously. She’s also a diehard Problem fan so she also knows good Hip-Hop music when she hears it.

Check out what Parker McKenna Posey looks like in the present day via the gallery below. Nothing but excellence ahead.

Man In Bitter Custody Battle Claims Ex-Wife Is Coaching Kids To Make False Statements About Him

Amid accusations that include abuse, inappropriate touching, poisoning ice cream, and even putting a child in a garbage bag filled with rocks inside a bathtub with the water running, Sandra and Joey say they’ve been to court about 10 times fighting over the custody of their children.

Watch Sandra’s claim that she fears Joey could kill them; Joey says his ex is “crazy.”

“Sandra is coaching my children to make me look like a bad father,” claims Joey. “These stories are absolutely insane and they keep getting worse … Sandra is absolutely crazy and she’s making my kids believe these outlandish things about me, brainwashing them. She’s manipulating my children, and it’s disgusting.”

Sandra responds, “I am not coaching my daughters to lie. The stories that the girls come home saying are beyond insane, and there’s no way I could even make them up.”

What do court findings reveal? Watch as Dr. Phil looks at the records as he attempts to help this couple in the video above.

News in Brief: Report: Nation Spends $50 Billion Annually To Get Kids Excited About Things

WASHINGTON—Taking into account investments by government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private industry, a report released Friday by the Pew Research Center revealed that a total of $ 50 billion is spent annually in the U.S. to get kids excited about things. “Each day in this country, well over $ 100 million is spent on efforts to take something, such as reading, science, going outdoors, or breakfast, and get kids excited about it,” said lead researcher Michael Hazlett, adding that in 2014 alone, over $ 10 billion was spent on getting kids excited about fruit. “In addition to the $ 50 billion that goes toward getting kids excited about fitness or dental hygiene or any number of other things, we found that an even larger sum of $ 65 billion is then spent each year on making those things fun.” The report concluded that at any given moment, an average of 0.3 percent …

In 2015, it’s not uncommon for kids to attend the wedding of one (or both!) of their parents. Sometimes it’s a second marriage for mom or dad, and other times it’s because the ‘rents decided to wait to tie the knot.

Whatever the reason, how cool is it to get the chance to celebrate alongside them on a day so full of love? Below are 27 sweet photos of some lucky kids who got to do just that.

Halloween: A Gender Flexible Kid’s Dream

A few hours after offspring Harry drove away from my apartment with a carload of props for their* two-day photo shoot, I received an email alert from Amazon. A package from Zaza Bridal would be delivered the next day. Huh, I wondered. Harry had carried out a boogie board, microwave, plush pink unicorn and a few small boxes, but hadn’t said a word about expecting any other packages.

“Do you need this for Friday?” I typed, forwarding the email from my iPhone.

“Nope. halloween :),” they replied.

I smiled. At 24 years old, Harry had put together five different looks for Halloween 2014. That’s when they’d informed me that for drag queens Halloween was the equivalent of the World Cup. “Bring your A-game or don’t bother playing,” they’d said.

“How many costumes planned for this year?” I wrote, which was the same as asking how many parties they’d be going to. I knew my child would never wear the same get up twice.

“Haha at least 4…” Harry answered.

I laughed out loud reading their short list of costume ideas. “Those all sound great! It’s SO fun being your mom. xo,” I responded. Then I sat back and reveled in the joy of Harry’s enthusiasm for Halloween. It had begun at an early age. I remembered their blue ghost at age five, the “purple thing” outfit and handmade mask at six years old, and the standout vampire geisha at nine.

2015-10-09-1444410495-3104745-HJVampireGeisha2.jpeg

With an audible sigh, I tapped into the parental peace I’d found that assured me my big Halloween mistakes from the years Harry was two and four hadn’t stifled their creativity.

Then I thought about the fiercer and more evolved parents of today, like the dad in Virginia whose young son wants to be Elsa from Frozen this year. Those parents understand that clothing doesn’t have a gender. They see Halloween for what it is: a holiday that celebrates imagination and gives children a chance to pretend they’re someone or something that they’re not and flex their inner desire for freedom.

I’ve learned that if we stifle a child’s creative drive because it doesn’t conform to what our binary-driven society has imposed as “gender-appropriate,” then we risk blocking an important aspect of that child’s development. Halloween or not, the message to send to our gender creative, gender flexible, gender nonconforming kids is to reach for happy and always be themselves. And from my experience, children instinctively know to do just that.

That’s the thing about kids, they don’t think about what they can’t do or shouldn’t do; they think about what they can do and want to do. They know who they are and don’t care what anyone else thinks.

So this year, while my Harry is planning their five costumes, I’m hopeful that the little boys who want to be this year’s Pink Power Ranger and the girls who fancy themselves as Antman get the encouragement they need to find and express every magical ounce of their Halloween joy.

*Julie’s offspring Harry, who identifies as genderqueer, has no preferred gender pronoun. She likes to use “they” to think of them as a person first, with gender coming second.

You can follow Julie on her personal blog, My Son Wears Heels, and also find her on Facebook.

9 Biggest Divorce Mistakes That Impact Your Kids

“Kids have a personal truth. They have what they believe about themselves,” explains Dr. Phil. And that personal truth can get damaged when children live through a contentious divorce.

Dr. Phil tells an ex-husband and ex-wife who have been at odds for years — at the expense of their 9-year-old son — how their vitriol can be impacting him. “He thinks he’s lesser than. He has a damaged personal truth. He feels like a second-class citizen,” Dr. Phil says. “And the problem is you generate the results in life you think you deserve.”

How To Make Your Divorce Less Tough on Your Kids

Watch the video above as Dr. Phil reveals the biggest and most frequent mistakes people make in divorce or remarriage:

1. Sabotage — using child as a pawn
2. Using child for information to manipulate/influence ex
3. Transference of feelings
4. Forcing child to choose sides
5. Family events turn into pressure cookers
6. Using child for companionship/support
7. Treating child as adult
8. Too emotionally needy
9. Overindulgence due to guilt

“I’ve got two rules with children,” Dr. Phil continues. “You never, ever burden them with situations they cannot control, and you do not ask them to deal with adult issues.”

Dr. Phil’s Dos and Don’ts For Co-Parenting With Your Ex

Children’s needs become exaggerated when their parents go through a divorce. Most of all, such children need:

  • Acceptance
  • Assurance of safety
  • Freedom from guilt or blame for the divorce
  • Structure
  • A stable parent who has the strength to conduct business
  • Let kids be kids

He tells the bitter exes: “It’s time to start being a fiduciary for your child and put their interests ahead of your own.”

The Coolest Kids in Paris Don’t Have to Try Too Hard to Look Good

Paul Hameline

Away from the bolder-is-better statement looks of Paris Fashion Week exists a street style with a quieter edge—one that the native, baby-faced club kids preternaturally possess. Photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti turned his lens on them recently, capturing their perfectly lived-in denim, distressed sneakers, threadbare tees, and oh-so-casually tossed-on outerwear, a uniform that lends itself to late-night antics and dancing until dawn. These stylish Parisians—designer Simon Porte Jacquemus among them—reveal the stylized collision of fashion, music, and androgyny in the City of Light.

What I Told My Kids When They Asked Why Dad Left

It’s a question no divorced parent wants to hear after a messy separation: “Why did dad (or mom) leave?”

What are you suppose to say in response to a question that heavy? A lite, kid-friendly version of the truth? That what’s happening is a grownup issue but you both still love them very much?

Below, HuffPost Divorce bloggers and readers share the responses they gave their kids when faced with that heartbreaking question.

1. I gave them a simple, age-appropriate response.

“My children were very young. One was just an infant and the other was 4 years old. We sat him down and said, ‘Daddy has decided that he wants to live alone so you’ll have two houses now. And we love you and your sister very much so that will never change.'” — Dina S.

2. I told them it was a grownup matter.

“I said, ‘Our relationship and the reason for our divorce is between Daddy and I. We both love you very much.’ Period. Saying that was the best advice I ever got from a counselor.” — Carolyn S.

3. I told my daughter a version of the truth.

“My daughter was a baby. He left me for another woman who he is married to now. My daughter is 8 now and I tell her the partial truth. I couldn’t get around it because she is a smart cookie. I didn’t lie but I reassured her of how much she is loved by me, her Dad and his wife and I told her that I want her to love them both. It took me a long time to get to this place but I’m glad I did.” — Ginen M.

4. I reminded my child of the love we still share as a family.

“I said, ‘Your Dad and I love you very much. We weren’t a great married couple but we parted as friends and will always work together to give you everything you need.'” – Honorée C.

5. I told my son the truth.

“Our son was 22. I told him the truth: His Dad had been cheating and had left me for the other woman.” — Rebecca C.

6. I told them it was a mutual decision.

“My ex-husband blindsided all of us — me and the boys. He left without warning one night saying he didn’t love me after he’d already planned a three week business trip, with no opportunity for the family to talk. I held down the fort and although angry and hurt, I came to terms with divorce. When he returned, we told our sons it was a mutual decision, even though it was not. In the end, it’s what’s best. We said there would be no more fighting, that the divorce was not about them but about us as grown ups. They would have a happy mom and a happy Dad and to do that we needed to live apart. I have never bad-mouthed him. But they know he left and treated me poorly. They have asked if he doesn’t love me anymore. I simply say that people change sometimes in marriages, but no matter what we both love them. That’s the best I can do right now: love them and take care of them.” — Jenny K.

7. I told them Daddy and Mommy were going in different directions in life.

“My children were very young. I told them that their Dad and I wanted different things. He wanted to live his life differently than me.” — Sarah P.

8. I suggested they ask their Dad what happened.

“I was lucky enough to be in counseling with my ex to learn how to co-parent. He explained to our triplet boys that what he had done was something a married man should never do and that was why we were getting divorced. When the boys ask me what Daddy did, I tell that that is something you need to discuss with your Dad. My motto is ‘better not bitter.'” — Janice S.

The Price Kids Pay When Parents Go Through A Bitter Divorce

In the video above, Dr. Phil gives a wake-up call to feuding exes Melissa and Eddie, whose custody disputes and vitriol toward one another are negatively impacting their 9-year-old son.

What Children Need Most When Their Parents Divorce

“Let me tell you what happens to children who live in contentious divorce,” Dr. Phil says.

  • They have appreciably lower math skills.
  • They have appreciably lower social development.
  • They have appreciably lower achievement in college.
  • They are at higher risk for anxiety, stress and low self-esteem.
  • They have a higher frequency of health problems.
  • They have a two times higher divorce rate.
  • If they marry someone who is also from a divorced home, they have a three times higher divorce rate.
  • They have a five-year shorter life span, which means it’s eroding their overall constitutional strength.

“The kids that get caught in the middle of all this are paying the price,” he concludes.

Honey, I Shrunk the Saint Laurent! 10 Adorably Chic Kids Looks Inspired by Fall’s Top Runway Trends

Photo: Corbis

Traditionally, mommy-and-me dressing has existed somewhere on the sidelines of fashion, in a pink-hued world of sugar and spice, where everything is frilly and matchy-matchy. Which is sweet and all, but where’s the fun? And variety? Not every little girl wants to dress like a princess each morning, as North West, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, and Suri Cruise can attest.

Dolce & Gabbana, whose Fall collection celebrated motherhood, isn’t alone in giving the throwback approach to dressing la familia a rethink. “It’s never too early to play with fashion,” says Assistant Market Editor Anny Choi, who selected looks from the Fall collections to inspire a guide to the season which has the major trends—from the neo-boho look at Burberry Prorsum to Loewe’s shinny metallics—covered for kids. Far from being copycat looks, these clothes are maximally chic while being totally age-appropriate, too. “The trick,” Choi explains, “is putting all the pieces together to make a statement.

How To Talk To Kids About Tragedy (And What Not To Say)

Opening up an age-appropriate dialogue with your children about a tragedy can be difficult, but it’s necessary in order to help them process, cope and feel safe. What’s the best way to talk to young people about tragedy or senseless acts of violence? Dr. Phil offers this advice:

• Talk, talk talk. Reassure your child as to his or her safety and security. Find out your child’s questions and answer them. If your child is going to get information, make sure he or she gets that information from you — in a familiar setting, in your own home, on your own couch. Make physical contact, hug him or her and put your hands on your child — make sure he or she feels safe.

• When you talk about something scary, talk to your child in a normal voice. Don’t use euphemisms. Tell him or her straight. But don’t tell it in a whispery voice. That just makes it more scary.

• If your child is under the age of 6, by all means protect him or her — limit exposure to media. There’s not much he or she can say about it, and it’s not a good thing to visit these images if he or she doesn’t need to see them. The younger your children are, the more abstract you need to be in talking about what has happened, because they don’t have an ability to understand the concept of death or the gravity of the situation. But if you have a child who is aware of this — a friend tells him or her on the playground, he or she sees it on the news or on the Internet — and he or she asks questions, you need to be honest, but you don’t want to over-share. Answer questions without specifics, and don’t go beyond the questions asked.

• If your child is 8 to preteen, then answer his or her questions and let the child know that this is an isolated event and that we, as a country, have the ability to step up security. It’s very important to talk to him or her about being watchful. What makes kids feel really worried and scared is if they feel like they’re helpless. Empower your child with a sense of participation — tell him or her to watch for packages that nobody is around, a bag left that nobody seems to be attending to, and not to approach it but to tell someone in authority. That gives children a sense of empowerment. They say, “Wow. I can be the eyes and ears and be helpful.” Then they don’t feel like they’re just out there with nothing to do. It really helps and gives them a sense of participation.

• If you have an older child, have an intelligent conversation where you can discuss what is in the news, help raise his or her awareness and again, enlist his or her aid in being watchful and able to help. Talk to him or her about what he or she has read, have an intelligent discussion and perhaps, you can suggest articles.

• Conduct business as usual as far as school, life patterns and predictability.

• Explain the isolated nature of the occurrence. You can tell your child that someone did a very bad thing, but it’s over, and assure your child that he or she is safe.

• Let your child know that telling is not tattling.

• Be patient with individual reactions. Children process things internally, and this is a lot to wrap their head around. You’re going to see sadness, anger, irritability and guilt. You’ll find that sometimes, even kids feel guilty. You’ll see a little bit of shock in the beginning. You may also see fatigue, stomachaches and headaches.

• When there’s violence involved, it’s not unusual to see children regress a little bit. You might even see your child go back to behavior from a couple of years ago — he or she is just reaffirming that he or she is OK and that you’re going to take care of him or her. But the more you get your child to talk, it’s just cathartic, and he or she will snap out of it. If your child starts to withdraw and become isolated, consider contacting a professional.

• The main thing you don’t want to do is let any of your children become obsessed with this and watch it over, and over and over.

News in Brief: Ice Cream Truck Driver Going To Let These Kids Sweat A Little Bit Before Stopping

MILWAUKEE—Admitting that he’ll never get tired of looking in his rearview mirror and seeing their little legs going at full speed as they struggle to catch up to him, local ice cream truck driver Derek Kenney said that he once again planned on making the children on Maple Avenue sweat it out a little bit before stopping his vehicle. “Of course I’m going to park at the curb eventually, but there’s nothing quite like the look on their faces when I’ve got the music going full-blast and then just keep on driving right past them for a little bit,” said Kenney, adding that he always slows down when he approaches his young customers but then accelerates for about a hundred feet until the children’s initial expressions of excitement transition to exasperation and panic. “I have a pretty good idea of just how far I …

Back To School Tips For Parents Of LGBTQ Kids

Back to school time is filled with the excitement of new backpacks, teachers, and reunions with friends. But for lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender parents and students that excitement can be accompanied by anxiety and fear. New schools, classmates, and teachers may also mean coming out again to unknowing peers. This may happen in stride for some LGBTQ parents and students; others have legitimate concerns as another school year begins.

The goal for all students, however, is to provide them with a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment. The climate around LGBTQ issues may not always be the sunniest, but even in school districts where progress needs to be made, these goals are something all parents and students deserve and should expect. Here are ways you can advocate for yourself and your child as you begin another school year.

Talk
Before your child enters the classroom, schedule a time to sit down with their teacher(s) or school administrators to be sure everyone is comfortable and informed about your family’s structure and identity. Give the teacher the opportunity to ask you questions. Understanding breeds knowledge, and sometimes it is our job to inform others. As long as conversations are mutually beneficial and respectful, open lines of communication are necessary.

Talk to your child too. Ask them what they need to feel safe and supported in the classroom and relay that information to their teacher(s). This may include the use of their preferred name, pronouns, or the allowance of a specific friend to be with them during transitions to reduce the possibility of harassment.

Revisit these conversations and check-in frequently. And listen. Your child and their teacher(s) have first-hand knowledge of their school day; be sure you are giving them the opportunity to talk to you too. Everyone must be on the same page for your child to feel safe and comfortable to tackle a new school year.

Provide Resources

Even the most well-intentioned teachers may not know how to support students of LGBTQ parents or LGBTQ students. There are many resources available and they will find wonderfully helpful information through Welcoming Schools, a Human Rights Campaign project, or The Stonewall National Education Project. Both sites offer professional development tools, lessons, and ways to make sure all students feel safe and important in the classroom.

Another valuable organization is Trans Student Educational Resources, which is a youth-led group focusing on creating a more trans-friendly education system. And Gender Spectrum is a great resource to learn how to create “gender sensitive and inclusive environments for all children and teens.”

Your state may also have local programs dedicated to educating teachers on the important ways to embrace diversity.

Ignorance cannot be an excuse; material is available. Show your child’s teachers where to find it.

Expect Acceptance
And then expect them to use the resources. If necessary, use the school’s mission statement as an argument to provide your child with a safe and inclusive learning space. Amanda Rodhenburg, Director of Advocacy at Outright Vermont gave examples when looking at two different elementary schools’ mission statements. One stated they “strive to develop cultural competency in our students.” Rodhenburg stated, “If a teacher were reluctant to be inclusive about non-hetero families, I would tie the necessity to that very line.”

Another school listed goals that every child should be supported in school, home, and their community. Rodhenburg, “Again, I would tie the imperative for inclusivity to the goal of students being supported in school and at home. Y’all came up with that directive, now you have to stick with it.”

Dr. Molly Fechter-Leggett, clinical psychologist, also reminds parents to use the school’s guidance counselor as an ally and professional trained in LGBTQ issues to help families and students overcome feelings of exclusion. Dr. Fechter-Leggett says, “Counselors are the go-to allies for many kids who transition. If there are barriers with teachers, counselors can often work to help educate them about the social and emotional aspects of the child’s experience.”

Posters, Safe Space stickers, inclusion of LGBTQ history into the classroom curriculum validate a child’s need for a safe learning space. Learning that a great author or famous scientist identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender is also very empowering to a child who has parents with these identities or who may be LGBTQ themselves.

The quality and quantity of books with LBGTQ characters and themes are increasing every day. Be sure your school’s teachers know about them and expect them to be available to your child. Check here for a list of books for all ages.

Find or Create Community
Joining or creating a community of other like-minded students builds confidence and safe places for your child at school. It also increases visibility and improves the school’s climate towards diversity. The Gay-Straight Alliance Network (GSA Network) and theGay, Lesbian, & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) are national organizations with local chapters. If your child’s school doesn’t have a Gay-Straight Alliance, encourage them to start one.

Safety is Non-negotiable
If you find out your child is being bullied by another student, the first step may be to talk to their teacher or the school administration. Contacting your local LGBTQ resource center may be helpful too. Workers at these centers and youth advocacy leaders can help educate your child’s teacher(s) on the best way to create a cultural shift in the classroom to help prevent future situations.

If the bullying or harassment is coming from a teacher or school administrator, it may be necessary to contact your state’s Human Rights Commission to report discrimination. More of your rights can be found at GLAD.org.

Bottom line: Safety is non-negotiable. You have every right to speak up and to be heard.

All of the fun and exciting aspects of a new school year should not be overshadowed by ignorance. You, your family, and your child deserve the same respect and opportunities as every other family and student. It may take a little more work and time in some cases, but the benefits of a happy and confident student are well worth the extra energy.

Good luck parents!

Edible Encounters: Dej Loaf Warns “Kids, Don’t Do Drugs”

“Fun Fact: I ate a weed brownie and almost died (well at least in my mind i did) while on the Pink Print tour,” wrote Dej Loaf in a recent Twitter post.  Today (Aug. 23), the “Try Me” rapper used the social media site to recall an adventurous experience between herself and an innocent looking chocolate morsel.

The humorous account made Dej question her mortality and she reminisced, “Whole time I was thinking like (so this is what it feels like to die) It was mentally painful.” Eventually, the Detroit native playfully admonished herself and decided to “Stick to Hennessy,” before she responsibly advised “Kids, don’t do drugs.”

Back-to-School for Kids of Divorce

Getting a new school year off to a good start, with both parents on the same page, can influence children’s attitude, confidence, and performance both socially and academically. The transition from summer to back-to-school can be difficult. It can be even more trying when it’s the first year back to school after a divorce. My kids are going back to school in a week with the added twist of now living at two different houses. Although my ex and I separated in January, we did not have a regular visitation schedule. We did alternate weekends and were flexible with weeknights on an intermittent basis, which in hindsight may have been hard for the children. Really, everything was hard for them, it was a matter of making things as easy as possible, letting them feel their feelings, talking about them, and reassuring them that it was going to get easier. And it has.

Mostly, they slept at my house during the week, but still went to baseball with their dad, Scouts with their dad, the occasional mid-week movie with him, or even a sleep-over here and there, with the goal being that not too much time would pass between visits. But it was not a routine, and I know from childhood experience that routine is comforting and necessary. And now, we will have one. I also know, it will be different from anything they’ve ever done. And it will be an adjustment.

During the summer, it was easier — no early wake ups, no homework, and no after school activities. The custody agreement was designed with their best interests in mind, and they spend a good deal of time with their dad, which is great. It’s good for him, for them, and for me. They had questions about the logistics and I let them fire away. I took out a calendar and marked the days so they’d see how it would work, I encouraged them to talk with their father. I let them know it might feel strange at first, that we would take it slow, and that they could talk to either of us, or their therapist if it felt uncomfortable, difficult, or stressful.

It would be a transition but we live five minutes away from each other. Forget something at one house and need it for the next day? We’ll go pick it up. Have a really busy week and need to stay at one house because you’re working on a project and all your stuff is there? No problem. Out sick one day and just need to be where you woke up, all day, and the next? That’s fine.

My boys are very different when it comes to being flexible, and comfortable with change. My older son prefers routine and my younger son is less structured. As I expected, my older son was more anxious about the agreement. But, because my ex and I have listened to their needs, and have been flexible as to visitation, such as the random evening when the boys had half days last school year and my one son would say “I want to go to dinner with dad” or “I want to do a night swim at dad’s.” And if homework was done, “OK, text him and ask, it’s OK with me.” I want them to spend as much time with their dad as they can. I see this working out for everyone. They want to see their dad, he wants to be in their lives, and I don’t want to be a 24/7 single mom. Win, win, win.

Even children who like school, as mine do, get overwhelmed by transition. And children who have so much change at home can simply shut down, as mine did. Last year, when my husband and I split up, I let my sons’ teachers and administrators know. They were having a tough time emotionally and I wanted my “village” on alert. We are fortunate, because we chose this neighborhood for the schools; to have remarkable teachers, school counselors, and administrators was a support beyond belief.

My youngest, who has ADHD, became physically unable to take his pills. He’d choke on them. We had to find another solution, which we did. He was unable to go to school at first for days on end. He was completely non-functional. And his absences were forgiven, although he had a significant amount of make-up work. The school helped with a plan. He’d come in early for homework club, stay late, have tutors to help, and he did that until he got caught up. But at first, he stayed home. My other son would miss assignments. His teachers and I were in daily email contact and they helped make sure he stayed on track. His ADD, normally well managed, simply could not process the stress in his personal life and handle the rigors of seventh grade. He needed help. And he got it. And by the end of the year, he was fine.

My boys and I moved over the summer. We love our little house. They are both doing well. We have settled in. This is yet another transition, starting school. They’ve been traveling, staying up late, sleeping in; it’s going to be a rough first few weeks. And add to that a schedule where some days they come home to my house, and others their dad’s. I know they are already anxious.

One’s way of dealing with it has been to ask me over and over, “OK, so tell me again, which days am I going to Dad’s?” And I tell him. I show him on the calendar. I will put a calendar on the fridge with the days color-coded and remind him in the morning, and his father will, too. The other’s anxiety is simply “It’s too confusing, I can’t do it.” And I let him feel that. “I know it feels really overwhelming. It will be a little strange at first, I’ll remind you, and we’re going to try it.” I may get him different-colored plastic bracelets to wear for mom days and dad days, or something. I’ll talk with him this week about it. He’s very routine-oriented, so once things become routine, then he’s fine. It’s the anticipatory anxiety that gets him. I get it, I’m the same way. So, I can let him feel it, and not minimize it. There’s nothing more demoralizing than having your anxieties dismissed. They’re real.

I believe my boys will do well because we have set up the best solution for an unfortunate situation. What would be worse would be living under the same roof still, unhappy, tense, and fighting. So, happy mom in her house, happy dad in his, and happy kids with two houses five minutes apart. That’s a transition we can work with. Just feel the feelings, talk about them, and know they will come up at times of transition and let them out, and then let them go, knowing they’ll come back again.

The best way to make your kids feel safe is to listen. Listen and let them feel. “There’s no reason to be worried,” will shut your child down. Tell them, “I can see you’re really worried. What are you worried about?” and you’ve opened lines of communication forever.

Need to File for a Divorce!

Thinking of Asking a Woman When She’s Going to Have Kids? Don’t.

I am a single twentysomething living and working in New York City; I like yoga, running, hanging out with friends, pursuing hobbies and binge-watching television shows on Netflix. My current lifestyle sounds like that of countless other single twentysomethings living in New York City — yet there is one thing random people seem to want to change, and they seem to ask me about it on a consistent basis. It feels like I get asked about this one aspect of my life more than any other, but maybe that’s because I’m just so tired of talking about it.

My relationship status. Specifically, when I’m going to have kids.

It would really be nice to still get questions about things besides children, family and marriage. When I say “twentysomething” and “career” in the same sentence, people often interpret that as “single” and “forever alone.”

Most of my friends, both male and female, have been asked, at some point or other during their 20s, when (not if — when) they will be getting married, having kids, settling down — and it’s awkward. It’s really awkward.

It’s also really rude.

Because the people who ask this question are not just asking me when I’m planning on having kids. They’re asking about my socioeconomic status, my love life, my job status and whether I’m responsible enough to take care of another human being — all at the same time. It may not seem like that from the outside looking in, but when trying to explain it to someone (because, yes, for whatever reason a simple one-word response will not suffice and you have to defend the fact that you don’t want kids at that moment with a long, drawn-out reply), you have to explain why you don’t want kids by elaborating on your current lifestyle.

When you reach a certain age and you are childless, people are going to assume there is something wrong with you. They aren’t going to consider that maybe you want to be single, hanging out with friends and having a good time. They don’t want to hear about how terrible dating is, how hard it is to look for a stable apartment, to advance in your career. They aren’t going to think about you pursuing your hobbies and interests and learning new languages. They are going to think about family, and they are going to wonder why you don’t have one. That’s been my experience, at least.

Having kids is a huge responsibility, and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly. It means giving up my current, relatively carefree lifestyle for something new and unknown. It means trusting someone not only with my well-being but also with the life of a child we will bring into the world. It means years of dedication, understanding and love. My body would change drastically during those nine months of pregnancy, and it’s scary.

Come to think of it, why would I want to get pregnant when I will be shamed for gaining weight because I’m, y’know, growing a child inside of me? Why would I want to explain postpartum depression to people who have no idea it even exists? Why would I rush to have a child, knowing that the only major country that offers no paid leave for new mothers is of course the one I currently live in, the United States? Why would I want to get pregnant, when there’s also a very real possibility that I might be shamed when I return to work because I will then be a mother with a kid? That is, if I can even get a job and return to work after birthing a child.

There are so many unrealistic expectations when it comes to being pregnant and having children and having the perfect baby products that it’s overwhelming.

I don’t want someone to rush how I live my life. My life is just that: mine. The men and women around you who are single? It’s their choice whether they want to hit the bars and have fun or try to settle down by finding the right person. If they want you to know about their love life (or lack thereof), they will tell you. They will tell you because they trust you and value your opinion.

If they don’t? Then, quite frankly, it’s none of your business.

Women should not be defined by their marital status and whether or not they have children. Women are told they should feel empowered and follow their dreams — but then they face insidious judgments when they don’t have kids on someone else’s schedule. Successful women who are single and happily living their lives are, for some reason, regularly forced to explain their lifestyle choice of not having children to other people.

When am I going to have kids? I don’t know.

Next question.

Why Dogs Are Better than Kids

45 minutes to get a dog ready to go outside in the winter? — NOT!

Dogs cannot lie.

Dogs never resist nap time.

You don’t need to get extra phone lines for a dog.

Dogs don’t pester you about getting a kid.

Dogs don’t care if the peas have been touched by the potatoes.

Average cost of sending a dog to school: $ 42…
Average cost of sending a kid: $ 103,000…

Dogs are housebroken by the time they are 12 weeks old.

Your dog isn’t embarrassed if you sing in public.

6 Times Parents Caught Their Mischievous Kids But Struggled To Keep A Straight Face

Every parent has been there — you catch your kids doing something crafty to reach the cookies, or painting the dog’s fur, or cutting their younger sibling’s hair. You start disciplining them, but there’s one little thing that gets in your way: the fact that the situation — and, more importantly, your kid — is undeniably hilarious. So you lose it, struggling to keep it together or even erupting into laughter.

Fortunately for us, some parents don’t just focus on fighting the laughs; they also take the opportunity to film or photograph their kids after they’ve been caught red-handed. In the spirit of celebrating parents who are strong and soft, we’ve partnered with Angel Soft to compile our favorite sidesplitting parental moments — the ones where the only thing harder than disciplining your kid is disciplining yourself to not burst out laughing.

1. The Lipstick Lovers

How in the world do you get lipstick off of kids faces?!! O.M.G. #kidsaretheworst #motd #lippies #makeup

A photo posted by Mack (@thesodakshack) on

Image: Mackenzie Tims

This definitely isn’t what lipstick was made for, but good luck explaining that to a kid. One minute, everything is business as usual. The next, you find your kids covered in your favorite shade of rouge — and you can bet they’re pretty proud of themselves. At least at first.

“They knew they were busted as soon as I caught them, red-handed at that!” says the children’s mom, Mackenzie Tims. “I managed to keep a straight face while scolding them for getting into makeup without asking, but I struggled to keep my composure once I put them in the tub and realized how hard it was going to be to get the lipstick off their faces.” The best part? Her 5-year-old sighed and told her, “I wish I didn’t do this; I’m going to be stuck this color forever!”

“I had to bury my face in a towel every time I cracked a smile to keep from letting on that this was one of the most hilarious things they had ever done,” admits Tims.

2. The Applesauce Artist

Video: Jessica Cook

It was basically inevitable that this mom would let out some laughs as she gave her son a talking-to about his applesauce adventures. How can you keep it together when someone so small makes such a big mess (he even got applesauce on the dog) and then tries to negotiate his way out in that sweet little voice? It can’t be done; but this mom still manages to lay down some serious discipline, giggles aside. Pro tip: Blaming it on the dog never pans out — and almost always leads to a timeout.

3. The Future Picassos

Video: Cheryl Edwards

What do you do when three little boys draw all over the walls? You make them scrub, of course. If you think cleaning constitutes punishment, though, think again; these brothers are having a little too much fun washing the walls after they used them as their personal canvases.

“It was a struggle to keep a straight face when they were covered in markers in a freshly ‘decorated’ room and working to clean it off,” says mom Cheryl Edwards. Still, she puts the boys to work cleaning while stifling a laugh, which earns her major bonus parent points in our book.

4. The Tornadoes

Image: @making our dream/@happy.healthy.mama/@kidsaretheworst

Lesson learned: Never trust a kid in a store. All it takes is an instant; and in that instant, whether you’re catching up with a friend or examining your next purchase, you’ll find that each and every item from the shelves is littered along the aisle, all thanks to your oh-so-happy toddler.

That’s exactly what moms Michelle Fontin and Sarah Mandel found when they ran into each other on a shopping trip. “We watched [our kids] out of the corner of our eye, but at some point, pure mayhem had happened in the ‘throw’ blanket aisle,” Fontin recalls. “The damage had already been done, and the kids were super happy tossing everything around. So we actually let them play a bit longer while we finished our conversation.” Taking a moment to appreciate the hilarity (and preserve it for posterity’s sake) is what it’s all about, after all. “When it was time to go, we made them put everything back,” she explains. “To be honest — and I think most moms will agree — this disaster was worth an uninterrupted time of adult conversation with a dear friend!”

5. The Tagger

Ella proud of spelling her name #2010flashback #kidsaretheworst #think #EV

A photo posted by Knut Espen Bryhn (@kebr) on

Sure, she doesn’t have a license to drive (give it another decade, maybe), but why should that stop her from claiming her wheels? After all, successfully spelling your name is cause for celebration — and in this case, cause for graffiting the car.

“It was impossible to get angry about this, mainly because of that smile that met me, so proud,” explains Ella’s father, Knut Espen Bryhn, who Instagrammed the automobile art. “And second, because I knew it [was] easy to clean off. I just had to laugh at it and explain that this was not a good idea.” Way to go, patient parents who reiterate the rules and take advantage of photo ops. We’re forever impressed by your balancing act.

6. The Storyteller

Video: Sherrica Sims/Rumble

This little doughnut thief is adamant that she’s innocent until proven guilty — despite that her half-eaten treat is hiding in plain sight. We’ve never seen a kid try to talk her way out of trouble quite as well as this smooth-talking storyteller, and her mom deserves some major kudos for keeping it together as she reminds Tiffany of the rules. Bonus points to Mom for playing along with the story — and for poking holes in it when her daughter is clearly the culprit.

Angel Soft is proud to celebrate parents who can lay down the law, but still appreciate the humor in life’s little messes. Parents are both soft and strong, which is why Angel Soft products are too; learn more at AngelSoft.com.

Pharrell, Pusha T Propel Creativity With Adidas and L.A. Kids

THE NEW SUPERSTARS: Rap music fired up more than 200 artists, athletes and students to get creative with Pharrell Williams and Adidas at Los Angeles’ Milk Studio on Saturday night.
Using the athletic company’s Original Superstar sneaker as a canvas, guests dug into a tote bag of tools provided by Adidas, which wanted to see how the Millennials would reinvent its signature shell toe detail. Each unique design was then digitally printed onto an actual pair of shoes and projected as the backdrop for a surprise performance by rapper Pusha T, one of the five influencers hand-picked by the multifaceted Williams.
“The goal was for Adidas to open up doors and provide a platform for young creative minds to, you know, bring their ideas into fruition and to see that it could be done,” said Williams, who enjoys an ongoing collaboration with Adidas that lets him show not only his artistic side but also his progressive views on society and culture.
“It’s just a way to be with the culture, with the kids and with the people,” Pusha T said. “We’re pushing creativity, and getting to see the youth.”
The event embodied Adidas’ fall campaign motif of creating for an audience of one, something exemplified

Trump Woos Kids With Helicopter Rides At Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, Iowa — The main concourse at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on a weekend is always a spectacle with thousands of attendees, but this Saturday Iowans shifted their focus to the skies, where Donald Trump’s helicopter circled overhead.

“Is that Donald Trump’s helicopter?” asked one woman as she stood in line to purchase tickets to the fair for herself and her three children.

“Yes, you can see it says Trump on it,” replied another.

Trump made a grand entrance in a parking lot more than a mile from the fairgrounds, landing his $ 7 million Sikorsky S-76 helicopter and taking questions from reporters before offering up free rides to youngsters.

“We started with smaller venues, but the crowds have gotten bigger and bigger,” he said, responding to a question about his plans on campaigning in living rooms and at house parties — the strategy most candidates utilize in Iowa.

The business-mogul-turned-GOP-presidential-hopeful brushed aside a few questions about specific policy stances.

“I don’t think the people care, I think the press do,” Trump said. “I’ve been getting politicians to pass whatever I wanted all of my life. Big New York City zoning deals are probably tougher than most of the things I’d be dealing with, with foreign countries.”

After nearly 15 minutes of questions, Trump told the children standing behind him — who were holding signs and clad in Trump apparel — it was time for a helicopter ride, drawing cheers. Among them stood 10-year-old Shay Doyle, a fifth-grader from Waverly who is one of Trump’s biggest fans.

“You can go to the fair and ride the Tilt-a-Whirl or ride on Trump’s private helicopter,” Tana Goertz, Trump’s Iowa state co-chair, told The Huffington Post. “These kids will never forget this experience.”

As The Donald headed into the fairgrounds, swarms of media and adoring fans surrounded his golf cart, making it difficult for the GOP hopeful to navigate through. Trump spent about an hour at the fair, skipping a scheduled visit to the infamous 600-pound butter cow because the crowds proved to be a security risk. Instead, he snacked on part of a pork chop at the Iowa Pork Producers’ tent, shaking hands and taking selfies.

“It’s a political tsunami, everywhere he goes,” Goertz said.

Georgia Woman Arrested For Locking Special Needs Kids In Cages

Stephanie Stone, a 34-year-old mother, was one of two people arrested for leaving her special needs children inside makeshift cages in Murray County, Georgia. Stone and another woman kept her 11-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter locked away for unknown days at a time, and there were drugs on the premises as well.

Local outlet WXIA reported on the case, which broke on Thursday and was announced by authorities on Friday. Stone and another woman, Wana Sue Redfern, were both charged with false imprisonment and cruelty to children. Stone was slapped with an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine. The children were nearly not rescued, but a persistent call by an anonymous caller helped secure their freedom and bring justice to the women.

More from WXIA:

Ninety miles north of Atlanta in Murray County, the sheriff’s office made the horrific discovery when they went to a home for a welfare check.

Thursday at 11 a.m., Murray County deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a child had been left alone. The deputy was met at the door by a girl and an adult female. Since the deputy saw there was adult supervision, he left.

Later that day, the same personal called 911 asking for help again. This time, the deputy went inside and found an 11-year-old boy with special needs in a makeshift cage. Another child, an 8-year-old girl, was also found at the home.

The child’s mother, Stephanie Stone and Wanda Sue Redfern have been charged with false imprisonment and cruelty to children. Stone was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.

GBI Special Agent Greg Ramey, one of the officers that arrived at Stone’s residence, found the boy in a case that was described as “twin bunk beds that were of metal construction” and Ramey added there were “bars that he could not get out of.”

Ramey said that the beds stayed together with the use of zip lines and other types of metal.

Law enforcement officials say a second cage was found inside the home, which was assumed to be for the girl. Georgia’s Division of Children and Family Services were familiar with Stone and her children, this after a case was closed regarding the family just this past May.

Stone is being held on a $ 27,500 bond. Redferen is being held on a $ 25,000 bond.

London Fashion Industry Favorite, Kids Company Charity, Set to Close

END OF AN ERA: Kids Company, the London charity that has long been a favorite of many a British fashion label, is set to close its doors on Wednesday after months of turmoil and the resignation of its chief executive officer Camila Batmanghelidjh, who founded the charity in 1996. The charity, whose aim was to help vulnerable, inner-city children, is closing over claims of financial mismanagement.
Labels including Fendi, Stella McCartney, Mulberry, Folli Follie and Matthew Williamson have all hosted events or collaborated with Kids Company in the past. Last year, Fendi organized an auction of its Peekaboo bags, designed by celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Jerry Hall and Cara Delevingne, in aid of Kids Company. The event marked the opening of Fendi’s New Bond Street store.
In 2013, Paltrow and Williamson hosted a dinner in London to raise awareness for the charity, while in 2010 Stella McCartney hosted a Fashion’s Night Out event for the organization, showcasing creations by children that Kids Company supported. Folli Follie and Mulberry have both produced designs in collaboration with the organization.
Batmanghelidjh founded Kids Company in 1996, with the aim of supporting children, young people and families in need. Batmanghelidjh, who cuts a striking figure, with

Canceling ’19 Kids And Counting’ Cost Discovery $19 Million

TLC took its sweet time before they decided to cancel “19 Kids and Counting” when Josh Duggar apologized following reports that, as a teenager, he allegedly molested five underage girls, including some of his sisters.

Duggar’s confession came in May, but the network didn’t officially cancel the reality series until July. As the network’s highest-rated show, no doubt finances were a concern. The Wrap reports that TLC’s parent company, Discovery Communications, lost about $ 19 million when they said goodbye to the Duggar family.

During a post-earnings conference call on Wednesday, the company’s Chief Financial Officer Andrew Warren revealed Discovery had lost a total of $ 24 million during the second quarter, listing “higher restructuring and other charges this year of $ 19 million, primarily due to content impairment charges of canceling TLC’s ’19 Kids and Counting,'” as the reason.

Still, TLC hasn’t completely cut ties with the Duggars. At the same time that it  announced the series’ cancelation, it also revealed their new partnership with child-protection organizations, Darkness to Light and RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network), as part of a new campaign to raise awareness about child sexual abuse.

“TLC will work closely with both groups and with the Duggar family on a one-hour documentary that will include Jill and Jessa and other survivors and families that have been affected by abuse,” the network said in its statement.

How To Help Your Kids Stand On Their Own

While parenting can be one of the most rewarding jobs, it can also be daunting. “There is a natural age-old tension that all parents face between nurturing and protecting your child — making sure they have what they need and they’re safe — versus preparing them [for the world], which means you’ve got to let them scrape knees,” says Dr. Phil in the video above. “You’ve got to get them out there to learn what they need to learn. Over-indulgence is not a gift to children.”

Explaining that we live in an “eat what you kill world,” Dr. Phil adds, “If we allow our children to get by without being the absolute best that they can be, without using all their skills, ability, traits and characteristics, we truly are cheating them. Don’t feed your own dependency needs by keeping them close to you. Help them stand on their own.”

DiFerdinando Collaborates with Kids of Ronald McDonald House for a Cause

Handbag designer Danielle DiFerdinando participated in some child’s play but for a serious cause — the Ronald McDonald House. At a party she hosted for the children and mothers at the Ronald McDonald House on Manhattan’s Upper East Side last February, “We had the kids participate in a contest to sketch a tote bag based on what made them happy — anything from animals, nature, superheroes, or love,” recalled DiFerdinando. “We combined the sketches from the children and came up with a tote design. The kids were so happy to see their designs come to life.”
The tote, now available on macys.com and danielle-nicole.com, retails for $ 70. A percentage of the sales will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House New York, which provides a temporary “home-away-from-home” for pediatric cancer patients and their families. “It makes you stop and think what is really important in life — health and family,” said DiFerdinando, designer of the Danielle Nicole handbag line and long-time volunteer at Ronald McDonald House.

Two Sisters, Four Kids … One Man

Angel and her boyfriend Brian had been together for seven years and had two kids together … when Brian started having an affair with Angel’s sister, Amber, who got pregnant. The two sisters, who have had a strained relationship for the last seven years, face each other on Wednesday’s episode of Dr. Phil.

“Brian and I were in love,” says Angel, who had two kids with Brian while they were dating. “I was hoping we would spend the rest of our lives together.” She had no idea that Brian was sleeping with her sister, until she found out Amber was pregnant. “Your family is supposed to be the one thing you can depend on in your time of need. You’re supposed to be able to trust that they will be there for you, no matter what,” says Angel, explaining that she had confided in her sister. “While I was trusting [Amber] to be there for me, she was helping herself to my future … Oh, my gosh, it turns my stomach just even thinking about it.” She says Amber still has not properly apologized for what happened. “Why would I want someone in my life that has no heart, and has no soul and can hurt someone they love without even blinking an eye, without remorse?”

Amber admits she made a mistake seven years ago, but thinks it’s time her sister moved on. “Brian and I were sleeping together for about a year before I got pregnant,” she recalls. “I didn’t want to tell Angel about the relationship … I didn’t think of it as long-term, but then I got pregnant.” She says she tried to apologize to her sister. “I even sent her a care package with homemade brownies. I put mint chips; I know that’s her favorite,” she explains. But she says her sister began leaving threatening voicemails, and the two have been in a bitter feud ever since.

The Best Thing You Can Do For Your Kids In A Blended Family

As part of our Blended Family Friday series, each week we spotlight a different stepfamily to learn how they’ve worked to bring their two families together. Our hope is that by telling their stories, we’ll bring you closer to blended family bliss in your own life!

The secret to Nicole Carter’s success as a stepmom? The friendship she’s forged in the last three years with her partner’s ex-wife.

“I honestly believe that working on our friendship has helped make everything smoother,” Carter, a special education teacher who lives just outside Savannah, Georgia, told The Huffington Post recently. “All our kids get along so well, too. It’s not unusual to see us all sitting together talking at the ball field or going shopping together at the mall.”

Below, the proud mom shares more of her family’s story.

Hi Nicole! Please introduce us to your family.

Our family consists of seven people. My partner Josh has two kids from his first marriage: his daughter Bria is 12 and his son Brady is 7. I have two sons from my first marriage: Dawson is 9 and Braden is 7. Josh and I have a 3-month old daughter together named Tenley.

How long have you and Josh been together?

We’ve been together for almost three years. The funny thing is, we actually dated for a while in high school then reconnected later. At first I was really nervous about dating someone with children from a previous marriage — not only are you seeking approval from his children but from their mother, too. Being a mom myself I have always made my children my main priority and knew even though I hadn’t given birth to his two kid, they would be my priority as well.

You mentioned that you’re very close to your husband’s ex-wife Courtney. How did that relationship evolve?

Courtney and I have known each other since high school actually but we weren’t really friends then. We’ve become such good friends today because of the kids. Braden and Brady are both the same age so we always get them on the same sports teams. I think it’s benefited all of our children to be close. If I ever need help with anything with my kids, she’s there and vice versa. We show up for each other. It really does make a world of difference to have her support. As parents, we’re all on the same page when it comes to discipline and structure. One thing Courtney and I both agree on and live by is the idea that these kids didn’t ask for divorced parents. We did that all on our own. Now we are making that the best situation possible for them.

What challenges have you faced as a family in these last three years? What solutions have you come up with as parents?
One of the hardest things is not having everyone together enough. Every time we seem to get in the groove of things and get a good routine going it’s time for someone to leave. We try to spend as much time together as a family but we also try to spend individual time with each of our children. This way, each child gets one-on-one time with his or her parent. You have to make an effort to ensure each child knows how important they are and that they matter equally.

What’s the best thing about being part of a blended family?
The best thing is getting to see not just your own children grow up but your bonus babies grow up as well. Making memories with all the kids makes our efforts as parents worthwhile. We don’t look at anyone as “step” anything. I really can’t stand the words stepparent or stepchild. We have bonus family members and I would not change that for the world.

What advice do you have for other blended families who are struggling to get along?
The relationship you have with the exes makes a huge difference. I think that if you can create a friendship with your children’s stepparent or parent, then you should. Do not get caught up in the past and hold anything against a person. You all have one priority and that’s to provide the children with a happy, loving, safe home. Being able to co-parent like adults has given us the opportunity to enjoy all the special moments in each one of our children’s lives. Does that bond happen overnight? No, but as long as you all try to get on the same page, there’s no reason it can’t happen.
