Vera Wang To Launch Bridal Jewelry With Chow Tai Fook

SHANGHAI–Bridal doyenne Vera Wang is expanding her universe again, linking up this time with Hong Kong-headquartered Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group to produce a fine jewelry collection to cater to the modern Chinese bride.
“Vera Wang Love” will debut on Oct. 19 in Chow Tai Fook Shanghai stores before expanding to other key cities including Beijing, Chengdu, and Hong Kong. It builds on top of her existing offerings in the space via “Simply Vera Vera Wang” jewelry, as well as deals for homeware, and her core ready-to-wear and gowns business.
The collection will span 18K gold and platinum engagement rings, as well as wedding bands and fine fashion jewelry, with a starting price point of about $ 400.
Traditionally speaking, gold and jade usually adorn brides in China but the two sides said couples in greater numbers are starting to “incorporate diamond jewelry into traditional engagements.”
Wang has found a powerful partner in Chow Tai Fook, one of the world’s largest jewelers with nearing 3,000 points of sale across China. The group’s other brands include Chow Tai Fook T Mark, Hearts On Fire, Monologue, and SOINLOVE.

Vashi Continues Expansion With Selfridges Launch

GIRL’S BEST FRIEND: Selfridges is continuing to build its high-end accessories offering with the launch of Vashi, the diamond jewelry brand. The new concession, opening today, will be situated in Selfridges’ ground floor Wonder Room.
Vashi has made a name in the world of fine jewelry as a diamond disruptor. Clients are encouraged to work alongside the brand’s craftsmen or “Alchemists” to participate in the creation of their individual jewelry designs.
The 1,200-square-foot Selfridges’ space is the brand’s third retail presence in London. In October last year, Vashi opened a flagship in Piccadilly and earlier this year in May, set up a second store in Mayfair.
“The U.K. market has been receptive to our brand proposition and we are seeing strong growth. We have plans to continue growing in the U.K. as well as expanding internationally in the near future,” said Vashi Dominguez, founder and chief executive officer of Vashi.

Anna Sui to Launch Ath-leisure Collection, Anna Sui Active

SPORTY SUI–Prints-loving designer Anna Sui is working on an ath-leisure collection that will debut in China before rolling out in the rest of Asia and globally.
The American designer revealed the plans while on stage speaking at WWD’s CEO Summit held in Xian, China last week, saying she wants to imbue the products with an “empowering yet feminine” plus “good girl/bad girl” attitude.

While the ath-leisure wear market is not wanting for new labels, Sui believes that her dreamy signature will provide something fresh compared to the Lululemons or Lorna Janes of the world.
The products “will mix top performance fabrics with the newest garment technology, so it would be interesting to see how the nostalgic Anna Sui image mixes with modern activewear styles,” Sui said. “We want to bring something different into the activewear space.” 
The brand is aiming for a spring 2019 launch for the collection which will encompass two lines: performance and lifestyle, but may start seeding and social interactions towards the end of this year. 
As to where Sui might wear her new designs herself, she said she personally is a fan of swimming and regularly works out with a trainer.

Zac Posen Readies for Memorial Day Launch of New Uniforms for Delta

Zac Posen’s Memorial Day plans are all about travel, as he officially launches new uniforms for Delta.
The designer will be at LaGuardia Airport Monday afternoon with Delta staffers showing off their new attire, around the same time that a Singapore departure will be taking flight wearing his designs. In total, Posen and his team are suiting up 64,000 staffers. Lands’ End partnered on the project to handle the production, which included a wide range of sizing including petites and tall.
After the Memorial Day debut, Posen will board a plane to fly to Delta’s home city of Atlanta for the start of a whirlwind 48-hour cross-country tour that will feature fashion shows in-flight and in airports. He will also make stops in Minneapolis and Los Angeles.
Having done a considerable amount of “job shadowing,” Posen said the physicality of Delta employees’ work called for micro bacterial and stretch fabrics. Since January, he has taken 40 flights learning about employees’ lives and careers. “A lot of the cabin crews are lifers who have had incredible experiences traveling the world.” he said. “It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to go from baggage check-in to ticketing at the counter to learning how to use the

Clergerie to Launch E-commerce Site

SHOE BIZ: Looking to spark a virtual stampede to its e-commerce site due to launch on Friday, Clergerie creative director David Tourniaire-Beauciel has whipped up an exclusive men’s and women’s sneaker in woven black and natural raffia, one of the house codes.
The site will carry the house’s men’s and women’s collections and for now will deliver to the euro zone and the U.S. market. The house has also redesigned its main web site.
Clergerie chief executive officer Perry Oosting, who joined the First Heritage Brands-owned house in April 2017, said the e-commerce site will serve as a digital window into the work of Tourniaire-Beauciel, who succeeded Roland Mouret a month after Oosting’s arrival. (Tourniaire-Beauciel also designs the shoes for Balenciaga.)
The site will also be integrated with the brand’s social media platforms, and will serve to increase revenue by rendering collections available “24/7, 365 days a year,” Oosting said. The brand previously had an e-reservation system.
Future features for the site may include a personalization service and pre-order options, he said.

ONE FOR THE BOYS: The Irish designer Sharon Wauchob plans to launch men’s wear — and join the coed gang — starting with London Fashion Week Men’s in June, and in concert with the Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons.
“The idea of change started with my move from Paris to London, which opened up the possibility and benefit of new avenues and new methods of showing. There was also the timing issue with deliveries and the fact that since moving to London I’ve been fascinated with bespoke men’s tailoring,” Wauchob said.
She plans to host a women’s presentation to show her fall 2018 range during London Fashion Week on Feb. 18 and will show a new collections of women’s wear and menswear in June.
As for her collaboration with Norton & Sons, she said,“I like exploring the masculinity in men’s wear. As a designer it genuinely interests me. Norton & Sons offers a modern look and a willingness to have that dialogue with me. I like the classic look with a moment of surprise.”

Bethenny Frankel is expanding her empire.
The reality show star and entrepreneur will reveal today that she is extending her Skinnygirl franchise from spirits and specialty foods to fashion.
In partnership with One Jeanswear Group, Frankel will launch Skinnygirl Jeans, a collection of denim, knit tops and jackets for women, at retail beginning this fall. The line will be targeted to department stores and will retail for around $ 100. It will also be sold online.
Frankel said she hadn’t been searching to enter the apparel space, but a friend introduced her to Jack Gross, chief executive officer of OJG, and they hit it off.
“Jack said he was meeting me as a courtesy because he wasn’t looking for any more celebrity brands right now,” Frankel said. OJG has collections with Gloria Vanderbilt, Jessica Simpson and William Rast (Justin Timberlake’s line), among others.
But once they discussed the possibilities of creating a collection, they both agreed they should move forward.
“I said I would give her 15 minutes, and after 10, I knew this would be a big idea,” Gross said. He said since that initial meeting he has been even more impressed with Frankel’s commitment to the collection.

Proenza Schouler to Launch New Line

Proenza Schouler is launching a secondary collection in November, WWD has learned. Reportedly called “White Label” the line is not being billed as a diffusion line, but a “sister” collection comprised of the more casual pieces — denim, T-shirts, basics — that have been part of the main line for a while but are being separated out and highlighted in an effort to boost the business with more accessible, affordable options. In January, Elizabeth Giardina joined the design team from Derek Lam 10 Crosby, where she had been vice president of design for five years.
The new collection is the second big move this year from Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez and their chief executive officer, Judd Crane, who is new to the c-suite. He was previously a buyer at Selfridges and succeeded Ron Frasch, who was acting ceo at Proenza Schouler. The company realigned its spring show to the Paris couture schedule in an effort to get more of its runway show into stores and take advantage of the bigger budgets afforded to the pre-collections.

When the chief executive officer of One Jeanswear Group was looking for a face for its L.E.I. brand in 2008, he first sought a “high-powered spokeswoman, but they were too expensive.” So on the recommendation of a friend, he met an up-and-coming country music singer who won him over with her high moral standards, work ethic and ambitions, and “we just clicked.”
That up-and-comer was Taylor Swift, who served as the face of the jeans label from 2008 to 2009.
Although Gross said he has no crystal ball and just “got lucky” with Swift, he sees the same characteristics in Maddie & Tae, a country music duo whose first single, “Girl in a Country Song,” became a platinum-seller and positioned the duo as an alternative to bro-country. And so he has signed the pair to be the face of a new juniors denim brand, Black Daisy, that will make its debut for back-to-school. “I had the same feeling when I met Maddie and Tae. They have similar ideals, they’re hard-working, ambitious and passionate.”
And they’re relatable to the Black Daisy target customer. The line is intended to fill what Gross sees as “a void in the market

CFDA, Accessories Council Select Participants in Elaine Gold Launch Pad

The Council of Fashion Designers of America, in partnership with the Accessories Council, has unveiled the participants in the inaugural Elaine Gold Launch Pad business innovation program.
The Elaine Gold Launch Pad is a four-year partnership underwritten by a $ 1.5 million donation to the CFDA Foundation. It is in honor of Elaine Gold, the accessories executive, who died in 2015.
The program focuses on assisting emerging designers, from those just starting out to ones who have been in business for three years, to launch their careers in apparel, accessories, jewelry or textiles and knitwear.
The six designers are: Alexis Isabel of her namesake brand (footwear); Emily Adams Bode, Bode (men’s wear); Lucy Jones, Ffora (accessories, innovation); Ali Rose, Jack Burns, Mark Richardson, Genusee (optical); Maria Kazakova, Jahnkoy (women’s wear, men’s wear), and Jameel Mohammed, Khiry (jewelry).
The board selected 11 finalists from 97 applications. Each finalist received a $ 2,500 stipend toward their Live Design Pitch presentation, which took place at the CFDA on July 27,  as well as mentorship from Ideo’s Sabastien Park.
The participants will take part in a six-month virtual residency, which will combine creative and business mentorship with micro awards totaling $ 175,000. The goal of the program is to develop visionary ideas

A. Sauvage to Launch Sportswear Collection After Moving Studio to L.A.

Adrien Sauvage, who established his men’s wear label A. Sauvage in London in 2010, has become the latest designer to decamp for Los Angeles, opening up a studio in Beverly Hills this summer.
“Basically I came here for Christmas holiday and I never went back,” said Sauvage, who said Robert Downey Jr. was among the first of his clients to encourage the move. Sauvage launched his line of contemporary suiting in Harrods, then opened his own shop on Bond Street, and today his made-to-measure pieces are also available online. He still travels back to London every eight weeks for his made-to-measure clients, but says the California lifestyle has inspired a new idea — a sportswear line due out in January.
“I surveyed the land of T-shirts. I thought two or three years ago the whole sportswear thing was going to go in the bin, but it’s still here. It’s even tweaked my own style a bit. My sportswear line is going to have a casual elegance, the whole seven days a week wardrobe. It’s perfect for getting on or off a plane,” he said. He is still exploring wholesale partners for the line.

DILARA’S PROPAGANDA: Luisa Via Roma’s Andrea Panconesi headed to London Thursday night to mark the launch of an exclusive capsule with the emerging designer Dilara Findikoglu.
The Florence-based retailer fully embraced Findikoglu’s rebellious spirit for the evening, hosting a dinner in a grand room at East London’s Masonic Hall, complete with rock music and withered roses scattered on the dinner table.

Mulberry Marks Launch of New Book on Creative London

BURNING OUT? Mulberry and its new creative director Johnny Coca hosted the launch of one very weighty tome about London’s buzzing creative community — and its future.
“London Burning: Portraits From a Creative City” is a snapshot of the state of fashion, art, cinema, theatre, music, architecture and technology edited by the writer and publisher Hossein Amirsadeghi and the editor Maryam Eisler.
Published by Thames & Hudson, it contains more than 100 new interviews with the likes of Nicholas Serota, director of Tate; Antony Gormley; Gilbert & George; Fergus Henderson and Ruthie Rogers; Alexandra Shulman; Grayson Perry; and Coca himself, who said it was “exhilarating” to take part in the project.

Gaultier Hits Tokyo to Launch Japan Apparel Collection

Jean Paul Gaultier held court at the French embassy in Tokyo on Wednesday to launch his collection for Japanese retail giant Seven & i Holdings. The project is Gaultier’s first fashion foray outside couture since he discontinued his own pret-a-porter line last year.
The designer said he was overwhelmed by the work involved in producing luxury ready-to-wear and the need to churn out several collections a year.
“I wanted to concentrate on what I like. What do I like? To make couture. To make pret-a-porter also, but not like the way it is now, because now you have to make pre-collection, cruise, all that, you know, which is a lot a lot of demand. And it doesn’t really stop…which is not good, because we have no time to think,” Gaultier told a press conference. “So I prefer to be free of that, and to make some capsules and some experiences and some new adventures that give me more freedom. And in that way I feel more free and more energetic and a little more excited.”
The line, called Jean Paul Gaultier for Sept Premieres, goes on sale Wednesday online and at Seibu and Sogo department stores and Ito Yokado general stores across Japan.

Ex-Moschino Designer Rossella Jardini to Launch Own Brand

MILAN – Almost two years after her departure from Moschino, where she served as creative director for two decades after the death of her mentor and the brand’s founder Franco Moschino, Rossella Jardini is ready to make a comeback.
During the upcoming Milan Fashion Week, the designer will present to buyers only the first women’s collection under her new name.
“This brand was born for a lucky concatenation of events,” said Jardini. “After working for six months next to Angela Missoni, I took a break, but then I met some of my former assistants at Moschino and they pushed me to start designing a shirt collection, which rapidly became a full ready-to-wear line.”
Jardini’s agent, Davide Dallomo, immediately supported the project, as well as Ciemme, the manufacturing company that produces the line under license, and L.A. Distribuzione, the showroom in charge of distribution.
Artist Antonio Pippolini has designed the brand’s logo, which consists of a pair of lips and two eyes framed by cat-eye glasses, Jardini’s trademark.
“Pippolini also lent us his house to shoot the look book, photographed by photo reporter Alex Majoli,” Jardini said.

Julien Macdonald to Launch Men’s Line During London Fashion Week

MACDONALD’S MENSWEAR LINE: London designer Julien Macdonald — known for his high-octane women’s wear — is making his first foray into men’s wear. When the designer shows his spring women’s collection during London Fashion Week later this month, he will include a handful of men’s looks on the runway, too.
Macdonald said while he had “always been interested” in designing a men’s wear collection, “I’ve never really found the right time to do it.” However, he said he’d been hit with inspiration when designing his current women’s collection.
The men’s looks revolve around knitwear – a Macdonald signature – and prints. Designs include layered, weblike knit sweaters and pants, and printed T-shirts. Among his inspirations were a recent trip to Bali, and the region’s architecture and traveling culture, and the designer has worked with fabrics such as techno gabardine, Neoprene, cotton and silk knits and what Macdonald called “exciting print techniques.”
Macdonald is resolute about who he wants the collection to appeal to. “It isn’t [a] gentleman,” he said. “I’ve taken inspiration from my own clothes and things I’ve seen guys in London wearing, especially in the East End, the Shoreditch area of London where the most fashionable kids hang out. Samsung has repeatedly told you that “The Next Big Thing” is already here and the prestigious company is set to release the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5 on August 21 to live together in technological matrimony.

Last night (August 18), West Hollywood was transformed into a star-studded celebration for plenty of Samsung ambassadors ahead of the new product rollout.

DJ M.O.S. warmed up the crowd with Hip-Hop freshness from new and old as Chrissy Teigen (fresh off her viral ad), Jamie Foxx, Tyrese, Russell Simmons, Wesley Snipes, Demi Levato, apl.de.ap and Aldis Hodge (coming Straight Outta Compton), among others enjoyed an open bar and the atmosphere.

H&M-owned & Other Stories Is Latest to Launch Transgender Campaign

Fashion has embraced the transgender community most visibly through models and ad campaigns. Two-year-old & Other Stories, the H&M-owned label that prides itself on female diversity, is the latest brand to cast transgender models in a campaign. Lest the company be part of the crowd, it took the angle an extra step by recruiting a creative team of transgender professionals to produce a shoot for an athletic-inspired capsule collection launching in-store on Aug. 20. Photographer Amos Mac shot models Valentijn De Hingh and Hari Nef in & Other Stories’ Stockholm atelier. Love Bailey styled the shoot, working with makeup artist Nina Poon. Swedish director Ninja Thyberg, who is not transgender, captured the behind-the-scenes action for a film, “The Gaze & Other Stories.”
“There’s a lot of talk about transgender today, but for us, it was a lateral step to do [the campaign],” said Sara Hildén Bengtsson, & Other Stories creative director. Her concept was to focus on the transgender “gaze,” which is an idea to articulate and to interpret from the images. Essentially, the finished product is the result of a collaboration of all transgender individuals who are fashion professionals. It doesn’t look that different from what a nontransgender shoot might yield.

Finery to Launch at London’s Other/shop

LONDON — The London contemporary label that launched earlier this year with a lineup of pared-back yet feminine designs, is opening a retail space within London boutique Other/shop.
The space, which will open Monday, will be the only brick-and-mortar retail location in London for Finery. In the U.K., the collection is sold at Finery’s Web site, finerylondon.com. Other/shop, in London’s Soho, carries emerging and established labels for men and women, such as Rejina Pyo, Lemaire and Peter Jensen. Matthew Murphy and Kirk Beattie opened the store in 2012.
“I’ve known Matthew and Kirk for a long time, and I’ve always admired what they do and their taste levels, and I thought that [the store] fitted very well with the Finery aesthetic – and they thought [Finery] would offer them something that they haven’t got already,” said Caren Downie, founder and brand director of Finery. “They are quite selective, so it was flattering,” she added.
Downie, who was previously buying director at Topshop and then Asos, started the label in February, bringing in head of design Emma Farrow, who was previously design director at Topshop and head of buying Rachel Morgan, who was formerly head of buying at Asos. Nickyl Raithatha is the chief executive officer.

Josie Natori to Launch Eveningwear

Josie Natori is adding another category to her expanding repertoire — which already includes lingerie, accessories, fragrance, home goods and ready-to-wear — with a new eveningwear collection slated to hit retailers this fall.
Natori is no stranger to evening; she has always mixed a few gowns into each of her annual runway shows. But during a preview on Wednesday at her Manhattan headquarters, she explained that any past plays on eveningwear were done mainly as exclusives for the shows, scarcely making it to retail floors. “Because we were selling [our rtw collection] to sportswear buyers, they weren’t buying [the evening looks],” Natori explained.
Recently though, a few retailers encouraged her to explore evening as a separate venture, particularly at the lower end of the designer price point. Her collection will range from $ 1,500 to $ 5,500, whereas other designer evening looks are priced well above $ 6,000.
The debut lineup includes cocktail dresses, shifts and gowns  in duchess satin, pebbled silk cloque, lace and even double-bonded jersey, all with her flair for intricately beaded embellishment and embroidery. Once in a great while something happens that changes the course of your life unexpectedly. For Erin Miller, CEO and Creative Director of Boho Betty USA, that ‘something’ was a piece of jewelry. Listening to her and the lead designer of the brand, Rebecca Middleton, you immediately feel a true love and a passion for what they bring to the market.

During their USA launch at the Essex House Hotel in Miami, I got a chance to sit and chat with both of these ladies about their love of jewelry and the importance of building the brand presence of the global brand in the U.S.

RM: Erin, Boho Betty was originally based solely in the UK and Asia, what connected you to the brand and what eventually lead you to bring the line to the US?

EM: Our neighbor’s grandchildren were in town and I was 7 months pregnant at the time. They came over with a gift for my child and also brought me this beautiful bracelet. I loved it and never took it off. It was like a running joke in my household because my husband was like could you at least take it off when you shower. I just immediately fell in love with the brand because the piece I had could virtually go with anything. I wanted to know more about this jewelry line that was based in the UK, I reached out to the lead designer, Rebecca Middleton and decided that we should bring the brand to the U.S.

RM: Rebecca, can you tell me a bit about your background and what inspires your work?

RMD: I’ve been in Asia for 18 years so first in Hong Kong an then in Beijing. I’m British and have another partner who was based in the UK. My inspiration really comes from my travels. All the different materials, the experience of living abroad and I can tap into all those lovely things. I bring all of the colors and culture into the brand.

I look at trends and colors and think this could look lovely and get feedback from our audience about what they would want to wear, which is really important. We want everyone to be happy and share that same experience.

RM: When did you first start designing?

RMD: I’ve always been into design, my background isn’t design, I’m actually a trained doctor. We were laughing about this earlier because Erin is a scientist. You don’t have to be stereotyped; just because you’ve done one thing doesn’t mean you have to stay in it. I’ve always had a creative side. It started with my love for interiors. That then spun off into jewelry. Every woman loves jewelry, we like to feel smart, pretty, sassy, elegant, fun all sorts of things, so my designing just naturally lead into designing for women who love unique pieces.

RM: So who are you designing for?

EM & RMD: Virtually it’s for every woman on the planet. We are founded on two core beliefs, one is to bring culture and our love of traveling into our brand but also to empower woman to feel sexy and confident. Our line is so diverse. There is something for everybody, the socialite, mom, wife, sports enthusiast even the yoga queen.

RM: Can you tell me about the plan to roll out the brand in the US?

EM: We are introducing 11 collections in the US and turning out a new collection every six weeks. This quick turnaround is so important to our brand because there
is not another company that I can think of that is doing this. We wanted to bring the hottest styles to your doorstep every single month.

RM: Switching gears a bit, lets talk about why it is so important for women in business to support each other?

RMD: It’s all about team building, working well with people man or woman. For women some do go on to have a family and some don’t. I think when you’ve had a family sometimes getting back into business can be overwhelming and your self-confidence can be knocked. It’s important for women to know they can be a mom and can be in business. Partnering with other woman reminds you of this.

EM: We each have unique skill sets and when we collaborate that’s when magic happens. We are nurturers by nature and we support each other and we build on each other’s strengths. When you put all of that together there is no way we can fail.

RM: That’s awesome and so true. I find that in my own experience. There is such a strength and empowering feeling that comes when women collaborate and accomplish something positive together.

As you wrap up your U.S. launch, what is absolutely important for everyone to know about Boho Betty and what is to come?

EM: Well we’ve been reviewing a lot of new materials. We are thinking about bringing in more animal materials like python for the next collection.

Ranbeeri Denim Taps Aliana Lohan for Launch Campaign

KID SISTER: Ranbeeri Denim, a new line from the New York-based Central Denim design firm — which also houses the junior brand Rebel by Right and O.G. Jeans for men — has tapped Aliana “Ali” Lohan, the younger sister of Lindsay, as the star of its first campaign. The collection, designed by creative director Dorothy Antoine and set to debut this fall, focuses on denim jumpsuits, flares and skinny styles for the young contemporary market, priced from $ 49 to $ 79.
“Bryce [Thompson] shoots very quickly and knows what he wants,” Lohan told WWD. “We were dancing and laughing the entire shoot….I love photographers like that and felt right at home.”

LONDON — Net-a-porter.com has set its latest online retail exclusive, with the e-commerce site to carry Tod’s ready-to-wear collections exclusively online for two seasons.
Tod’s women’s fall collection will launch on Net-a-porter.com July 29, while the men’s line will launch on Mr Porter.com Sept. 8. Prior to the Net-a-porter partnership, Tod’s had sold its ready-to-wear collections exclusively in its own brick-and-mortar stores.

Net-a-porter.com’s partnership with Tod’s is the latest in a slew of online exclusives for the site.
In April, Net-a-porter launched Chanel’s Coco Crush fine jewelry line, marking Chanel’s first e-commerce project. A collaboration with Tom Ford followed, with the designer launching his women’s ready-to-wear on the site earlier this month, with Ford’s men’s designs to bow on Mr Porter in September. And last week, Net-a-porter launched an exclusive limited-edition capsule collection by Dolce & Gabbana, called Portofino.
Alongside an edit of Tod’s ready-to-wear collections, Net-a-porter and Mr Porter will carry a selection of footwear, bags, leather goods, luggage and accessories. Mr Porter has carried those Tod’s categories since fall 2012, and Net-a-porter since spring 2014.

Mary Katrantzou, Adidas Launch Second Capsule Collection

EIGHTIES EDGE: “I’m an Eighties baby, and it was amazing to just go back and look at all of these aerobics classes and the Seoul Olympics and just take symbols from that,” said Mary Katrantzou at the launch party in London for her second capsule collection for Adidas Originals. “We started thinking about symbolism and how we can take that within the context of Adidas. But also the silhouettes — there are little tennis dresses and diving suits and track tops so I thought that was a fun spin on the idea of symbols.” The party took place on the rooftop of Snap Studios in East London, with totem poles made by Katrantzou and the prop designer Richard Storey and adorned with the designer’s prints.
Katrantzou used collages made from sports items including a stopwatch, a tennis racket and a badminton shuttlecock for the 24-piece collection. Pieces include a structured T-shirt adorned with patches and crystals, a reversible varsity jacket, a crepe tank dress, leggings, tracksuit bottoms, boyfriend T-shirts, boy shorts, jersey swimsuits and footwear. Katrantzou also put a holographic spin on footwear with bold patterns and floral jacquards.

Among the companies taking part in the project, Larusmiani teamed with Gualtiero Marchesi, the father of contemporary Italian cuisine, while Santoni and Moncler will serve the culinary creations prepared by Claudio Sadler and “The King of Chocolate” Ernst Knam, respectively.

Brandon Maxwell, Stylist to Lady Gaga, to Launch Line

Brandon Maxwell will be a new name on the New York Fashion Week schedule in September. The stylist, whose most famous client is Lady Gaga, is launching a designer ready-to-wear collection for spring, the show date and format still to be determined.

Maxwell, who has considerable editorial styling experience, met Gaga through Nicola Formichetti and has been working with her for several years. He was responsible for her wardrobe on her Cheek to Cheek tour with Tony Bennett, as well as the white gown and red gloves by Alaïa that Gaga wore for her “Sound of Music” tribute at this year’s Oscars.

Do not expect to see a meat dress from Maxwell’s own line. The collection is geared toward evening with an emphasis on lean black suiting and gowns that are more democratically designed than what Gaga is known to wear. “It’s important that it’s humble and taken seriously,” said Maxwell. “I want women to want to wear the clothes, and I want people to say it was well-made and well thought out.”

Ermenegildo Zegna, Maserati Celebrate Book Launch

LIMITED EDITION: Gildo Zegna, chief executive officer of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, and Harald Wester, ceo of Maserati, hosted a party in Milan on Thursday to celebrate the launch of “One of 100,” a book illustrating the hand-made quality of the Maserati Quattroporte Zegna Limited Edition vehicle.
The book is named as such because there were only 100 models of the sedan available for sale since last June. All of the cars, priced starting at $ 175,000, have since been sold, Wester said.
For the literary project, Zegna and Maserati commissioned Italian photographer Fabrizio Ferri to take pictures of the hands of 100 prominent people — 25 in each of four cities: Shanghai, Dubai, New York and Milan – to commemorate the car.
“I have never done a project like this before,” said Ferri at Zegna’s Milan headquarters prior to the festivities. “This project made me realize how much work goes into making a car.”
Ferri noted that by focusing on hands, he was able to capture the ethos of hand craftsmanship that is behind making both Maserati’s luxury cars and Zegna’s apparel.
Aside from hands, Ferri also took images of Zegna’s finished wool materials and components of the Maserati car.

Bikini.com To Launch Video Channel

MULTIMEDIA GOALS: Swimsuit e-tailer Bikini.com is making good on plans to become a full lifestyle brand since its acquisition by Remark Media and a rebranding that began in earnest less than two years ago.
The company is set to debut a video channel June 5, which promises original content, tackling topics such as food, travel, fashion and beauty. They’re verticals the Bikini site also covers on its Web site where it features editorial content.
The company tapped Theresa Alexandria to be executive producer of video where she’s tasked with overseeing the video content. Alexandria joins the company from Yahoo where she was a producer on several of the company’s channels, including Yahoo Style.
Bikini’s swimsuit inventory consists of more than 3,000 stockkeeping units from brands such as Issa de’ Mar, Seafolly and Tori Praver that range in price from $ 50 to $ 350. The company debuted a pop-up last month at the Wynn Las Vegas XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club operating Thursdays and Sundays through September.
