Of course finding the right wallet isn’t always easy. Some guys are minimalists, while others need serious storage solutions that minimize bulk. There’s a bevy of different materials, styles, and durabilities out there, so we’ve narrowed down a selection for every man. Here are our favorites of spring 2019.
1. John Varvatos Star USA Bushwick Billfold
You can’t go wrong with a classic billfold wallet. This one’s made from cow leather, so it’ll weather over time—developing scuffs, wrinkles, and a rich patina. There are four card slots, so you’ll have just enough storage for your necessities.
Fancy a wallet with a little more sex appeal? This option is sporty but still refined, crafted from scratch-resistant cow leather. It doesn’t skimp on functionality either: There are slits for banknotes and cards, as well as a popper pocket for change.
This unique vertical wallet is designed for those who play hard. It combines durable, corrosion-resistant aluminum with top-grain leather, and features an RFID-blocking card cavity. In all, it can store 14-16 cards, plus cash.
Navy and tan: It’s a classic color pairing that never fails to look sharp. True to its name, the Minimalist Billfold is a slim wallet with hidden card slots to minimize bulk and stretch over time. We love that the wallet is produced via small-batch manufacturing with exclusive materials (like 100% full-grain Spanish cowhide and dead stock fabrics). But you know what that means: You’ve got to get it while you can.
Check out today’s naughty new update from OnlyOpaques that has the sultry brunette Sophia Smith in a bright yellow top, black leather miniskirt, black pantyhose, and some amazing black leather high heeled boots. Sophia teases on the couch while stripping for the camera and giving us an amazing show!
Autumn: It seems like every year this season pops up out of nowhere, tightening its pumpkin spice-flavored grip across the northern hemisphere. But no matter how you slice it, you’re gonna have to gear up those feet with some reliable footwear. And what better way to defend your dogs than leather boots. For the guys who won’t allow rain, snow, sleet, and everything in between stop them in their tracks (or you just want some stylish boots to wear), here are a few of the best leather boots for men to buy this fall.
From chukkas to hard-working and sturdy boots you can take on a hike, these will be able to last you through the wintertime in style. And once you find the right fit for you, don’t forget to wax up and weatherproof your boots.
There are more than a few ways to ease yourself into technical style. For fall 2018, we’re seeing duds with bulletproof durability and supercharged style trending that are perfect for the boardroom or the bouldering wall. Here are some of our favorite pieces to add to your wardrobe.
Belstaff’s Roxburgh denim jacket ($ 660; belstaff.com) and Ben Sherman’s Honeycomb-knit cardigan ($ 139; bensherman.com) both replace clumsy buttons with fast zippers.
Tommy Hilfiger’s workwear-inspired utility pant ($ 90; tommy.com) is extra durable; Hugo Boss’ Piñatex sneakers ($ 348; hugoboss.com) are cut from a sustainable leather alternative; and the coated canvas in Ermenegildo Zegna’s gray Chevron backpack ($ 1,295; zegna.us) might have a longer lifespan than you do.
The latest collaboration between Florsheim Shoes and Horween Leather Co. was a century in the making. The founders of both companies were longtime friends—they were even in each other’s weddings—and the brands have worked side by side for generations.
This newest collection’s classic silhouette and colors are an homage to both brand’s heritage. They’re also damn good-looking pairs of boots. Here’s the process of how the tried-and-true leather gets made.
The Horween Leather factory has been tanning leather in Chicago since 1905. Originally based on Goose Island, the fifth-generation company now operates out of a factory that dates back to the 1880s in Chicago’s Bucktown area. Here’s the process from start to finish.
After Horween receives leather from its suppliers via railcar—a staggering 600,000 to 700,000 heads of cattle per week—they’re put into mixers that burn the hair off the raw hides with an enzyme wash. This is called baiting, the step before the skins are tanned.
Behind a caged door lies the secret to the Florsheim collaboration’s beautiful leather: a cocktail of chrome (a mineral salt that provides strength and heat resistance) and other top-secret ingredients that make its leather strong and long-lasting. The factory also vegetable tans leather with tannins from tree bark. The processes are different, yet both yield beautiful leathers.
Inside the factory, you’ll find one-of-a-kind, often vintage devices—like this giant drum that gives the leather its signature color—that are used in the tanning process. From rawhide to tanned leather, the process takes around six months.
Each process involves a team of highly trained workers, many of whom have worked in the factory for more than a decade. However, their training can be intense. “If they’re still here after the first month, they’re usually here for life,” says Skip Horween, president of Horween Leather Co.
Employees lay the recently tanned hides onto a giant, multilevel dryer before inspection.
Above, the hides—which appear blue from the chrome cocktail—are measured for thickness and later sorted to be made into different products, from wallets to footwear to balls for every kind of sport.
This “staking” machine prods the leather with pins that move up and down to gauge the leather’s firmness, which ultimately decides which product it will be used to create.
Here, a worker inspects the leathers for holes and blemishes, which determine the grade of the leather. It’s then separated and moved onto processing.
Another worker marks each leather to determine where in the factory it will go next.
The factory also makes various suede and nubuck leathers using the inside of the leather, which is easier to process than traditional leathers because of its exposed “nap” or texture.
In addition to the leather used in the Florsheim boots, Horween also processes its famous shell Cordovan leather, which is made from the rump of horses and is extremely durable.
Even if you haven’t heard of Horween, odds are you own a football, basketball, or pair of high-quality boots or sneakers that were tanned in this facility.
Select hides are hand-sprayed with color for development before mass production. Above, this is a sample being made into white sneakers.
After coloring, the hides are hung to dry before being sent off to manufacturers like Florsheim for cutting and processing into shoes and small leather goods.
Stacks of various leather samples wait to be used for sales meetings and trade shows.
After being shipped to Florsheim’s factory, they’re cut and manufactured into the final Florsheim boots you see here. It’s a long, arduous process, but the result is a sleek, yet classic boot that’s durable and stylish.

Getting out the door and through your day can be a hassle, which is why we spend so much time investigating the products that can make the daily grind, well, less of a grind. But when youâre looking for the things that can make your life a little easier, you shouldnât have to sacrifice form in favor of function â which is why so many brands are offering streamlines leather goods right now, all of which are designed to take a little bit of the bite out of making it from 9 to 5 and beyond. Below, a few of our favorites.
It might be Friday the 13th, but the good people at Timberland are betting that today is a lucky day â at least for anyone who likes their iconic boots. How smart was Albert Einstein? One of the first things he purchased after coming to the United States in 1933 was an unlined brown leather jacket by Leviâs. A colleague at Princeton University once wrote that it âsolved [his] coat problem for years.â Einstein wore it so often while enjoying a pipe of tobacco that when Christieâs auction house sold it in July 2016, curators noted that it still smelled like smoke. Leviâs Vintage Clothing bought the jacket, and its designers will release a limited edition of 500 replicas on February 19. Each one comes with a bottle of fragrance by D.S. & Durga that blends the smells of pipe tobacco, papyrus manuscript, and vintage leather. Will wearing it make you think like a genius? Thatâs relative.
Lupita Nyong’o is definitely runway material … and there’s no question about it. The “Black Panther” star looked S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G Thursday strutting what her mama gave her on the way to “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in Hollywood. Lupita rocked the hell…
PARIS — Landing the top designer gig at a heritage fashion house may be the goal for many of the industries’ rising talents, but 21-year-old Canadian wunderkind Vejas Kruszewski has taken another tack by signing on as creative director of Pihakapi, a brand from Italian leather apparel producer Pellemoda.
A by-appointment presentation of the brand’s debut fall collection is set to take place during Paris men’s fashion week later this month.
Kruszewski, who has been working closely with Pellemoda for his own experimental label, Vejas, said accepting the role felt like “a natural progression, or at least a choice that made sense,” adding: “I liked that it was a little unconventional, the fact that a manufacturer wants to have its own brand….What I have always liked about making clothes is all of the processes related to the manufacturing, and they have the breadth of expertise because of the clients that they produce for.”
Founded in 1979, Pellemoda is said to produce leather apparel for brands including Dior, Coach, Céline, Balenciaga and Calvin Klein.
For now the self-taught designer is putting his brand — launched in 2015 at age 18 — on hold. The label counts around 30 wholesale clients including Browns and Harvey Nichols in
Instead of treating gloves as a wardrobe afterthought, buy a quality pair. Theyâll not only keep you warm, but theyâll look good with the rest of your clothes, too. And make sure they fit you. âWinter gloves should fit snugly but not tightly â they need to have room for air, which insulates,â says Bryan Freedman, owner of the San Franciscoâbased retailer Leather Gloves Online. âTo find your size, wrap a tape measure around the middle of your palm. That number is your glove size. Then round up to the nearest whole size for winter gloves.â Here are four top-end leather and suede pairs we like.

Hailey Baldwin is hell-bent on leather … even in hellish-like weather. The model was seen rocking an almost fully leather ensemble Tuesday in Bev Hills, where temps are supposed to reach the upper 80s. That’s not a problem for Hailey, apparently…
WASTE TIME: In a bid to tackle the problem of leather waste, the Burberry Foundation has inked a five-year partnership with the London-based accessories brand Elvis & Kresse that will see at least 120 tons of leather offcuts from Burberry factories made into new products, WWD has learned.
The accessories and homeware will be designed and sold by Elvis & Kresse, which built its business out of making luxury products out of waste materials. Half of the profits from this range will be donated to charitable causes focused on renewable energy, while the other half will be reinvested by Elvis & Kresse to expand its work in reducing and reusing waste and inspiring craftspeople.
The partnership will generate apprenticeship and work experience opportunities with Elvis & Kresse and aim to reach thousands through public events, competitions and workshops.
“Leather is a precious material, yet many of the offcuts generated by the design process are seen as worthless,” said Christopher Bailey, a trustee of the Burberry Foundation and president and chief creative officer of Burberry. He said the company will lead the way in showing “how creativity and craftsmanship can play a part in solving this issue.”

Even if you don’t know Zana Bayne’s name, you probably know her work. The leather maven’s decidedly bondage-y designs—harnesses, chokers, skirts, bags, etc.—have been spotted on the likes of Debbie Harry, Zoë Kravitz, and Anja Rubik (who sports hers regularly with crisp white oxfords). And if an undeniably dark appeal has characterized Bayne’s designs in past, her tropically-tinged Spring ’16 lineup, dubbed Bossa Nova, brings a new side of the label’s aesthetic to the fore.
Taking cues from mod icons like Courrèges and Cardin, the designer introduced juicy pops of coral and raspberry leather alongside all her classic noir (whatever the hue, all pieces are made by hand in her New York studio). Graphic petal shapes inspired by her ’60s influences appear as one of Bayne’s signature lattice-like skirts—ideal for layering over a prim midi skirt—but also in the form of footwear. Both ankle- and knee-high styles mark a first step into shoes for the brand. And for the truly statement-making among us, look no further than the Side-Eye Hat: a quietly Surrealist, wide-brimmed number in jet-black leather with a generous peephole cut in the brim, perfect for a little shade in the sun—or throwing a little shade in the sun.
Supernatural detective Jack Nightingale investigates a spate of mysterious deaths in a struggling hotel. Plus six extra short stories from fans and writers drawing inspiration from the Blood Bath title and cover. Other top writers contributing to the collection include Matt Hilton, Alex Shaw, Conrad Jones and Andrew Peters.

Her dark brown locks were left down and parted in the middle and the rest of her makeup was quite simple.

“I’ve always been a super—it sounds terrible, but—a super aesthetically inclined, or aesthetically driven person,” says Jeff Johnson, the creative director of the recently launched outerwear label The Arrivals, “always obsessing over either the way that things look or the way that things are put together.” And while that statement was issued in tones of regret, that’s not a bad thing for a man in his line of work; whether that was in his previous field (architecture, designing everything from “an airport or a museum to single family homes and furniture” for a Amsterdam-based firm) or his current one, creating a small clutch of innately covetable and entirely chic outerwear—think ribbed-sleeve cropped leather jackets with plush rabbit collars, oversize wool cocoon coats, durable twill parkas, and zippy, weatherproof Italian twill ponchos. As for whether Johnson truly thinks his discerning eye is doing him a disservice, consider the Vitruvius quote emblazoned across the Our Story section of The Arrivals’ website: “Nothing requires the architect’s care more than the due proportions of design.”
True to form, Johnson found the jump from creating buildings to creating sleek, androgynously minded toppers was not so much of a leap as one might think. (Though he did initially show up at a pattern-maker’s office with a series of blueprints and 3-D models for coats, rather than sketches.) “I was very lucky to find myself in an architecture practice that was so cross-disciplinary, that touched on so many different elements of design,” Johnson says, “It was such a nice place to realize the underlying principles of making good design better . . . it’s the very simple things that you’re taught: What is the starting function, what is the material that you’re going to work with, what is the silhouette, what is the construction going to take, what are the elements involved, what is the hardware like. Really, those elements transcend between any designing, it’s how we approach everything we do, whether that’s web design, the packaging, the product.”
And what of the product? The line contains both men and women’s collections mostly designed and manufactured in New York’s garment district and born of the desire for high-quality leather jackets without the $ 2,000-and-up price tag (as well as the related fiscal hangover). Johnson was approached with the idea for an e-commerce site late in 2013 by his friend and serial tech-investor Kal Vepuri, whose previous dalliances into the world of e-commerce include the riotously successful Warby Parker, Harry’s Shaving, and Reformation, among dozens of other businesses. Between Alexander Wang and Barney’s, H&M, and Zara, “where is that opportunity in the middle to buy a beautiful product with a story, made here in New York by like-minded young creatives who weren’t necessarily on paper the best people to do it, but are passionate and want to create a very impressive product?” asks Johnson. Well, they made one. Just by “focusing on what those classic items are that everyone wants in their closet, to let someone have that same feeling of putting on a leather jacket or that perfect oversize coat or parka or whatever it is and not feel terrible when you see the price tag.” And you won’t: The moto-style leather jacket rings in at $ 685, a warm wool wrapper, $ 385, with future collections held open for some currently-under-wraps ideas for expansion, both into lighter toppers for the warmer months and, possibly, accessories. The design aesthetic is very true to Johnson’s background: clean, Scandinavian-inspired lines that would look as good crossing one of Copenhagen’s canals as New York’s Canal Street—and as you might now have come to expect, you’ll want to live in them.
We’ve got to hand it to Kim Kardashian — the woman knows how to wear leather.
Kardashian stepped out in Paris sporting a black leather button-front dress with gold stiletto sandals. While the ensemble might not appear to be a particularly comfortable one for the afternoon’s activities, the 33-year-old sure seemed content as she bounced around town on Thursday, May 22. She was photographed leaving L’Avenue restaurant, stopping by Dior and visiting the Eiffel Tower with Jonathan Cheban.
Fans and paparazzi followed the star as she made her way around the city.
Just days before her nuptials, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star has been putting on quite the sidewalk fashion show. With plunging gowns and nude tops, she’s pulling out all the stops in the City of Light.
