Having set up a formidable task and then some with the finish of “Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame” rises to the challenge, delivering an epic finale that proves immensely satisfying. Marvel is flying high right now — coming off its breakthrough best picture Oscar nomination for “Black Panther” and a win for the animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Combine that prestige with the promise of two more blockbusters, “Captain Marvel,” opening this weekend; and “Avengers: Endgame,” and it makes for a gaudy display of the Disney-owned studio’s power.

The success of “Wonder Woman” provided a golden ray of hope that Warner Bros. and DC had finally mastered this whole comic-book-movie thing. “Justice League,” by contrast, reflects the haste with which the parties rushed to create their cinematic universe and catch up with Marvel, leaping several intermediate steps in a single bound.

Do we need another hero? Uniqlo apparently thinks so.
The Fast Retail brand revealed exclusively to WWD that the theme of its 2018 UTGP, or Uniqlo T-Shirt Grand Prix contest, is Marvel.
“We hope this will inspire artists and fans around the world to participate in UTGP in new and unique ways,” said Rei Matsunuma, Uniqlo director of the UT collaboration business, adding that submissions for the contest will be accepted starting Monday through Aug. 31.
The partnership between Marvel and Uniqlo isn’t a big surprise. Marvel is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Walt Disney Co., with which Uniqlo has had a relationship since 2009.
“Magic for All,” Uniqlo’s partnership with Disney, will introduce three new collections online and in select stores. (AllHipHop News) Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run-DMC and his partner Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez are joining the Marvel Comics family. According to CBR, the Darryl Makes Comics founders will contribute to Guardians of Infinity #3 in February.
Guardians of Infinity features characters from Guardians 3000. Drax, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and others from the modern team are a part of the series as well. Infinity will also introduce a brand new team called the Guardians 1000.
DMC and Miranda-Rodriguez are listed as writers along with artist Dan Abnett for #3. Gary Choo will design the cover. The 40 page comic will run for $ 4.99.
Darryl Makes Comics is an independent comic book imprint created by McDaniels, Editor-in-Chief Miranda-Rodriguez, and Senior Editor Riggs Morales.
“Hip Hop was always based on creativity. So what we’re trying to do with this comic book is not trying to create anything that’s new; we’re just going to show the world what’s already there… the beauty and the creativity of it,” stated DMC about his comic brand.

Marvel has been getting a lot of praise from remixing hip hop albums with Marvel characters. Once again, more albums have received the Marvel cover treatment. This time it’s Kendrick Lamar’s Too Pimp a Butterfly, Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, and Kool Keith’s Black Elvis/Lost In Space. The three original covers are swapped out with editions for Guardians of the Galaxy, The Hulk, and Venom. Check out the images below.
Marvel does it again and this time the entertainment giant makes a variant cover of Eminem’s Relapse album.
The Scarlet Witch of The Avengers replaces Eminem for this cover to the glee of Marvel’s Editor In Chief, Axel Alonso.
“The latest sampling of Marvel’s Hip-Hop variants include nods to lyrical innovators, musical game-changers and one of rap’s biggest stars,” says Alonso. “And who better to do these classic album covers justice than Ed Piskor, Keron Grant and the legendary Bill Sienkiewicz?”

Scarlett Johansson stars as the ass-kicking, nearly superhuman protagonist in the new sci-fi action flick Lucy. But while the French—namely the film’s writer and director Luc Besson—continue to put out films with strong heroine leads, Marvel and DC seem content to sit on a reservoir of amazing female characters like She-Hulk and Black Widow.
