Jordache Seizes the Moment With Premium Denim Line

With Eighties logomania and premium denim both enjoying a renewed spotlight in fashion, the timing seemed right for Jordache, one of the original “designer jeans” brands, to reassert itself in the market. So to help celebrate the moment and its 40th anniversary, the company will unveil a premium denim line exclusively at Barneys New York and Kith the last week in October.
“Right now there is a desire, especially for Millennials, to bring heritage and vintage inspiration back,” said Liz Berlinger, Jordache president. “We realized the new trends using a lot of our design inspirations — our original launch collection had high-rise straight legs, oversize jackets, more rigid fabrics and darker washes with high-contrast stitching. Now was the time to bring it back.”
In order to bring the right design mix of old and new, Jordache tapped veteran denim designer Benjamin Talley Smith. “We really felt this project needed a fresh eye, so we took a totally different approach with someone who hasn’t been seeing it for the last 40 years,” said Berlinger.
Talley Smith has designed denim for Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang and Re/Done Originals over the last 15 years, so he has an eye for what makes denim

Love in the Moment

A Springs Novel

Elena Aitken

Genre: Holiday

Publish Date: October 3, 2016

Publisher: Ink Blot Communications

Seller: Elena Aitken

The love at The Springs continues with Book One in the McCormick’s Series. After ten years, Ian McCormick was finally back in town and opening a brand new business. It was long past time to put his family drama behind him and maybe even have a little fun, just like the old days. And what better way to enjoy the summer than with the gorgeous brunette he’d just met at the bus depot?   One hundred pounds lighter, with a hot new look and a successful social media career, Gwen Henderson has returned to Cedar Springs. The last time she was there, she was awkward, overweight and her heart was completely shattered. She knew there was a chance she’d run into him, but she wasn’t prepared for the man he’d become or for him to have no idea who she was.   Gwen comes up with an innocent plan, a social experiment performed solely for the benefit of her social media followers, and maybe she’d even get a little closure at the same time. Would Ian be interested in the new and improved version of her? It was the perfect idea. At least until all the feelings she thought were dead, come rushing back. She can’t back out once she starts. But can her heart survive Ian a second time? And with their hearts on the line, can Gwen continue to play a game that could hurt them both and destroy the only real chance at love she’s ever had?

On May 21st of 2013, Southern California’s female fronted hard rockers In This Moment filmed their first ever live concert. Spanning the band’s entire career, the video includes all the band’s top 20 hits from Blood, their current 200K+ SoundScan selling album, Whore, Adrenalize & Blood, as well as fan favorites, Gunshow, Beautiful Tragedy and Burn. Madison’s very own taste making Active Rock station, WJJO, was one of the first in the nation to embrace and support In This Moment, creating a rabid and loyal fanbase, which is why the band chose to film the concert there. Set in the historic Orpheum Theater, the DVD was captured in HD and is as visually stunning as frontwoman, Maria Brink. The audio portion of the concert was mixed and mastered by Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Ozzy Osborne) and captures the band’s live intensity perfectly.

Riccardo Tisci’s Italian Moment

MILAN — First he took Manhattan.
And now Riccardo Tisci, having conquered New York Fashion Week with his poignant and buzzy spring show for Givenchy, is poised to take Milan.
Tonight, the Italian designer is to host a sprawling party at an abandoned glass factory here, marking his 10th anniversary at the helm of the Paris house and marking a major homecoming statement — a new flagship Givenchy store on the Via Montenapoleone conceived from floor to ceiling by him.
Word has it the event is to feature installations reflecting Tisci’s obsessions and career milestone, a live performance by Nicki Minaj and a DJ set by Seth Troxler.
“What I want to celebrate is the youth, because I left here when I was young,” said the 41-year-old, who was relatively unknown in 2004 when LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton handed him a plum post previously held by John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Julien Macdonald following the retirement of founder Hubert de Givenchy in 1995.
In a wide-ranging conversation earlier this week, Tisci talked frankly about his complicated yet tender feelings about Italy given his hard-knocks upbringing, having scrabbled his way out of poverty  to the summit of international fashion. (His mother, widowed when he was

Becky Jordan has had it with relationships. From now on her time and dedication won’t be lavished on her latest Mr. Wrong—or, worse, Mr. Hell-No!—just the dream travel job which has unexpectedly leapt into her lap. Finally, life is looking great. Unfortunately, not as great as her sizzling-hot, take-charge new boss. Matt Frobisher is everything she doesn't want him to be, but if anyone thinks she'll risk her career on a workplace fling they can think again. No amount of Superman behaviour from him will make her roll over and play Lois. At least, that's what her head says. Her heart, however, doesn't do logical. In desperation she finds herself a Mr. Distraction, one with no strings and plenty of appeal. But Mr. Distraction also comes with unforeseen complications. Kryptonite complications, like Becky’s sister. And when she shows up there’s only one sure thing: not even Superman can prevent the Disaster Fest that’s about to blow Becky’s life apart. We Are Having a Model Marriage Moment Right Now

model engagements

No, it’s not just your imagination—everyone really is getting married. Just glance at the catwalks (by way of Instagram) to see that models are among those now taking the whole summer love thing to another level: Just this past weekend, Victoria’s Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel announced her engagement to longtime model boyfriend Hermann Nicoli. In a nod to his Brazilian heritage (or a shared love of hip-swiveling), Swanepoel announced the genetically blessed union in a video of the duo enjoying a romantic dance complete with the caption “Meu eterno namorado”—or “my boyfriend forever” in Portuguese.

But Swanepoel isn’t the only runway strutter to receive an invitation to walk down the aisle—not even the only one to receive one on the beach. Street style siren Hanne Gaby Odiele was popped the question in Vieques, Puerto Rico, last week by her longterm boyfriend, John Swiatek, a DJ who also works for Acne Studios. In happy news for street style photographers, the pair often wears similar duds, from matching biker jackets on a walk down the Williamsburg Bridge and sun-glazed sporty tanks on vacation, to matching oversize white tees on rooftops. We’re betting this will be a stylish walk not down the runway, but to the altar for both these couples.

Jon Stewart’s Final ‘Daily Show’ Was Your Ultimate Moment Of Zen

After around 16 years of navigating through the muck of American politics, Jon Stewart finally wished “The Daily Show” #JonVoyage.

Aside from the episode being extra long–around 50 minutes–not a lot was known about Stewart’s final show heading into Thursday, but the surprises were all the moments of zen you’ll ever need.

The show started with out with an emotional reunion of ”Daily Show” correspondents including Samantha Bee, John Hodgman, Larry Wilmore, Lewis Black, Kristen Schaal, Jason Jones, Al Madrigal, Rob Riggle, John Oliver, Darth Vader (because why not) and even Steve Carell. Trevor Noah showed up to measure for his new desk, Craig Kilborn came to gloat that Stewart finally ran the show into the ground and Stephen Colbert brought Stewart to tears during an emotional goodbye, calling the TV host a “great artist and a good man.”

Image: Giphy

Stewart then went all “Goodfellas” to introduce the staff, Martin Scorsese made a surprise appearance and we even got to meet the higher-ups:

Image: Giphy

Stewart thanked Comedy Central for the opportunity, reminded everyone that the show isn’t ending–there’s just a “pause in the conversation”– and gave us a last warning to beware of “bullshit“:

The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, played Stewart out, and rather than go into goodbyes, the comedian left us saying he’s “just going to get a drink.”

Caitlyn Jenner’s ESPY Awards Fashion Moment Is Major

Caitlyn Jenner ESPY Awards

It’s the moment everyone’s been waiting for: Caitlyn Jenners first major fashion outing. After tweeting last month about her wardrobe dilemma for the event, the television star has been honing her new sense of style in wrap dresses by Diane von Furstenberg, fitted bandage dresses from Herve Leger, and a white netted ensemble that wouldn’t look out of place on stepdaughter Kim Kardashian West. And earlier tonight, Caitlyn Jenner made her grand entrance at the ESPY Awards where she received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

Jenner sought help outside the family for her big night, working with Angelina Jolie Pitts stylist Jen Rade to put together a look that would have fit right in with Jolie Pitt’s closet. The long-sleeved white Atelier Versace column flattered Jenner’s athletic physique while the cinched waist simultaneously provided a feminine flair and touch of Old Hollywood glamour. Beladora’s emerald and pearl earrings and a deco-inspired diamond and sapphire bracelet provided the ideal amount of sparkle for her to shine in the spotlight.

Evelyn Lozada On The Moment She Said ‘Enough Is Enough’ To Domestic Abuse

It took a head injury for reality star Evelyn Lozada to see the dangers of her relationship with then-husband Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.

“When I had six stitches on my forehead — that was when I was like, ‘enough is enough,'” she told HuffPost Live in a Thursday conversation. “This is not worth it. I would never want my daughter to be in a relationship like that.”

The “Livin’ Lozada” star divorced Johnson in 2012 after the NFL receiver was arrested for domestic violence. Happily engaged today to Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford, Lozada hopes to let other women know that if she can escape an abusive relationship, “any other woman can.”

“I think la lot of the times, domestic violence victims [are] so torn down and you feel like ‘well, I’m not going to be able to find anyone better,’ or ‘My life is over,'” she explained, “…I want women to be strong and I want for them to look at me [and think] ‘Wow, she did it. She was able to get out of that relationship.”

“If I can inspire one to leave that toxic relationship,” she added, “then I feel like I’ve done something great.”

“Livin’ Lozada” premieres on OWN tomorrow, July 11, at 9 PM EST.

Darryl Strawberry On The ‘Defining Moment’ That Helped Him Overcome Addiction

On the baseball field, Darryl Strawberry seemed like he could do no wrong. He was drafted by the New York Mets right out of high school, won four World Series championships and was voted to eight All-Star Games, making him not only one of the most talented but also one of the most popular players in the Major League. Off the field, however, was a different story.

Darryl had a very public battle with drug addiction and often made headlines for his bad behavior, leaving in his wake a series of arrests and legal troubles that, for many, overshadowed his legendary career. Today, however, the 53-year-old’s life is much different. As he tells “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” in the above video, he now finds far more value in life itself than he does in baseball.

“I don’t miss the game, because it’s a game. Life is not a game,” Darryl says. “Life is a journey, and life is more important than a baseball game.”

What’s most important is his own life, he adds, are his children, his relationship with God and his wife, Tracy, whom he credits with helping him turn things around. “It was a defining moment about 11 years ago when I met Tracy… who I’m truly grateful for,” Darryl says.

The two met when they both attended a Narcotics Anonymous convention in 2003; their similar struggles seemed to bring them together. “We had lost ourselves,” Tracy says. “I was fighting drug addiction and losing my children and alcoholism. Darryl, obviously, as everyone knows, was fighting the same battle.”

As rocky as the time was, Tracy and Darryl began dating. However, despite Darryl’s past success, the couple found themselves in a rather humbling living situation.

“We were living in my parents’ basement,” Tracy says. “You have an eight-time All-Star, four-time World Series champion living downstairs in the basement, sleeping in the bed that I [slept in during] high school.”

The Strawberrys openly admit to experiencing various challenges in their relationship — from financial difficulties to trust issues — and the stark reality of their situation soon set in for Tracy.

“She decided, ‘This is it. We’re not doing this no more. Either we’re going to live right or we’re not going to be together,'” Darryl says. “And we did that.”

They married in 2006 and worked through their issues, becoming active in church. In 2010, Darryl and Tracy, both now ordained ministers, founded Strawberry Ministries, and in 2014, they helped open the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in Florida. Today, they live in Missouri, focusing on their faith and helping those in need. For Darryl, it’s proven far more satisfying than anything else he’s accomplished.

“I really realized that that was the most important gift that we had ever given to ourselves — becoming a servant to others,” Darryl says.

“Oprah: Where Are They Now?” airs on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Ciara Pulls an Angelina Jolie Fashion Moment at the White House

Ciara White House Prince performance

With the 2016 presidential race officially on—did anyone else see Hillary Clinton in a cobalt blue custom Ralph Lauren Collection pantsuit?—the White House is playing host to a number of intimate soirees. This past weekend saw Prince reportedly perform to an audience that included Ava DuVernay and Gayle King. But stealing the spotlight away from the Purple One was 29-year-old pop star Ciara, who attended the performance in a stunning all-black ensemble.

Her sequined Halston Heritage skirt gave sexy glamour with each step, and the covered-up turtleneck was a balance to the daring thigh-grazing slit. Overall, it was a floor-sweeping summer silhouette that can also work for day (sans sparkles, naturally), as Kendall Jenner showed at Cannes. The Angelina Jolie Pitt–like slit, though, is better stepped out after dark.

My Moment With Brando

I put on an act sometimes, and people think I’m insensitive. Really, it’s like a kind of armour because I’m too sensitive. If there are two hundred people in a room and one of them doesn’t like me, I’ve got to get out.

— Marlon Brando

Casa Vega is an institution in The Valley — very little has changed since owner Ray Vega opened the doors in 1956.

The place was usually packed when my friends and I would go, and the later the hour the more crowded the Casa V. was — big draws were the superb margarita and the attendant Happy Hour, with appetizers, and on any given night you might see any number of television stars and celebs and actors at the bar or in the darkened dining room.

One night in 1995 or so, the four of us had finished our typically yummy dinner at Casa V., and were making our way out of the dark and crowded dining room, when I spotted Brando…

2015-06-12-1434150481-5737190-Brando3.jpg
No doubt of it, Marlon.

“Hey, STELLA!”/”What are you rebelling against ?” “Whaddya got ?”/”Nobody tells me…”/”I couldah been a contender. I couldah been somebody, instead of a bum… which is what I am, let’s face it.”/”Get the butter.”/”Do you spend time with your family?”/”I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.”/”I spent my whole life trying not to be careless.”/”The horror. The horror.” Brando !

He was seated on the outside edge of one of the round booths, with four or five guys all chatting and nibbling and drinking away the evening — except for Brando.

He had his back to his companions, hunched over the edge of the seat, staring with an extreme ferocity into the dining room, searching like some kind of radar, skittering from this person to that, while absentmindedly consuming one tortilla chip after another as a wood chipper might, but never breaking his view of the room and the diners, not looking to see where the chips were.

It was one of those “frozen-slowed-car-crash-uh-oh” kind of moments… I passed within a foot or two of him, not wanting to make a big deal out of it, trying to respect his privacy, but all the same probably staring at him all the while, and as he returned my stare for a brief moment, it seemed as though some otherworldly “something” had just happened.

It was a very strange feeling locking eyes with Brando.

He was like some form of recording device, taking in all the gestures and expressions (those that were visible in the dark), while crunching one chip after another, totally disconnected from his dining partners, and “at one” with the dining room.

One of the assets many high-profile people, actors in particular, possess is an uncanny ability to cloak themselves in obscurity, to actively not attract attention. Brando was cloaked that night and it was only when almost on top of him that it was clear it really was Brando.

My friends and I exited and while waiting for the valet to bring the car around, I asked them if they’d also spotted Brando, to which Norma practically jumped out of her skin and after making certain she’d heard me say what she thought I said, jammed her coat into my arms and said, “I think I left my coat inside…” and with that went rushing back into the dining room.

She emerged moments later saying, for all standing around the valet area to hear, “OMG, it *WAS* Brando!”

Watch The Beautiful Moment People With Disabilities Finally Get To Touch The Ocean

Fredrika Menezes loves the beach. But she has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, which makes reaching the waves a challenging task.

“It’s difficult to go to the beach now,” she said in the video above. “I can only dream about it.”

That’s why The Red Ramp Project — launched by H&R Johnson in India, a ceramic tile and home decor products company — is advocating for Indian officials to make the country a more hospitable place for people like Menezes.

In the video above, the campaign surprises Menezes and others who need wheelchairs or crutches to get around by creating a walkway that goes directly to the water.

“If just one ramp on one beach for one day can make a difference,” the video explains. “Imagine what an access-friendly India could feel like.”

According to the campaign, just 5 percent of India is accessible to people with physical disabilities. The project aims to focus on often-inaccessible spots like office buildings, beaches, railway stations and malls — “every place the rest of us take for granted” — that should be more accommodating.

In a country where nearly 27 million people were counted in India’s 2011 census as living with some form of disability, the project is garnering support through a petition calling for change.

“This is hopefully the nudge required to set off a movement that will benefit a significant part of our society,” the project states on its website. “If we even get a few people to think, ‘This place must be tough to access for a physically challenged person,’ the change has begun.”

Dr. Phil – The Huffington Post

This Moment of Gratitude Changed My Life

I sit, legs crossed, in a Kundalini yoga class. A dear friend recently started teaching this type of spiritual yoga, and I am there to support her. As the class begins, I try to ignore the discomfort in my solar plexus. It is a knot of fear right in the center of my gut.

The knot moved in at the end of my decade-long marriage. For good reason: I had a four-year-old, a two year-old and a one-year-old. I felt paralyzed in all areas of my life and was terrified to say the least. On this particular night, I am dreading a phone called that is scheduled for after the class with my (newly) ex-husband. This is a conversation I don’t want to have, am scared to have, and would rather never have. In fact, I don’t think I can have it. I was silenced so many times before. Just the thought of making this call makes me feel scared and hopeless. I’ve become accustomed to these feelings as well as the knot in my stomach.

The class begins with breath work. Breathe in one nostril, out the other, for three minutes. As I begin breathing, I decide to go beyond just being there for my friend. I make a choice to try my best to be present for the class, not to worry about the phone call, and to commit to this practice for 90 minutes.

Kundalini yoga, which emphasizes the connection between body, mind and spirit, includes a kriya in each class. A kriya is a set of exercises designed to yield a particular effect. I like to call it a prescription. Tonight’s kriya, the teacher announces, will be for releasing fear. The universe knows exactly what I need? The teacher knows exactly what I need? I smile and revisit the choice I made during the breath work: to commit myself to this time and this lesson. As the class progresses, I sink deeper and deeper into my decision. I meet up with a lightness that I had not encountered in a long time. My soul calls out: Yes! Yes! You’ve found it. We are home. I believe then that I have discovered something special and sacred. I feel connected, connected to Source and my Highest Self.

Before this class, I stood exposed, lost and at a crossroads. I could either choose one path that consisted of lots of shame, guilt, fear, alcohol abuse, binge eating, weak boundaries, negative relationships. You know the story. Or, I could choose a different one. I just wasn’t clear what this “different” path looked like, or how to walk it. While I was still standing there, debating with myself, the “different” path chose me. This is the path that includes a commitment to Kundalini yoga.

After class, I drive to a greenway nearby and find a bench. I take a few deep breaths, then call my ex. Our conversation isn’t necessarily any different than it has been in the past. And yet, everything seems different. I am grounded, calm, empowered, non-reactive. I am able to separate my “stuff” from his. This is new. This is HUGE!

When our conversation ends, I hang up and cry. I cry tears of deep, deep gratitude. I feel my solar plexus unwind, and for the first time in years, I feel safe, empowered, supported, hopeful and free from being manipulated. This moment changes my life. I know I am on the right path. Something clicks. I now have tools to deal with anything and everything that comes my way. This is the power and the strength of Kundalini yoga.

Since that night, I have continued to build my relationship with Kundalini yoga. It is now my constant friend. It disconnects me from fear and ego; it connects me with my Self. It has been described as weird, different, “out there.” So be it. That’s partly what drew me to it. For me, Kundalini yoga is uplifting, a natural high, elevating, and oh-so life-changing. During the first class, I was introduced to an ancient set of tools, tools that continue to help me change my life. I am grateful that the breathing, poses, meditations and mantra remind me over and over that God consciousness is what I am already, it is not something I am seeking. This technology gives me personal meaning. Even better, it is durable, reliable and always there.

Kundalini yoga reminds me that I have choices. Its teachings provide with me limitless tools to help me make good choices — the kind of choices that ground me firmly to Mother Earth and connect me to the Infinite. What could a single mother of three possibly be more grateful for?

Gay Kiss Cam Moment Has Dodger Stadium Crowd Cheering

Some of the biggest cheers at Dodger Stadium on Saturday were for a moment that took place off the field and in the stands.

During the traditional “kiss cam” at a game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks, the camera settled on two men who happily did the honors as the fans erupted in applause and cheers.

Check it out in the clip above. The couple appears on camera at the 27-second mark.

YouTuber Joven Calloway, who filmed the action at Chavez Ravine, said it’s the first gay kiss on the Dodger Stadium kiss cam.

Reaction to the kiss is worlds away from an ugly incident in the summer of 2000, when two women were tossed out of the ballpark for kissing during a game. It’s also a far cry from the tired schtick in which two straight men are put on the kiss cam in an attempt to make them uncomfortable while the fans laugh, something that even an MLB player has condemned.

“They put two guys on the ‘Kiss Cam’ tonight. What hilarity!! (by hilarity I mean offensive homophobia),” Dodgers pitcher Brandon McCarthy, who was then with the Oakland A’s, wrote on Twitter according Towleroad. “Enough with this stupid trend…the implication is that two guys kissing is funny. That’s offensive to gay males…Plus, it’s cheap shitty comedy so it sucks on that level as well.”

While this weekend’s gay kiss cam moment may have been a first for Dodger Stadium, it’s not a first for baseball. In 2011, the San Francisco Giants featured two men kissing on the AT&T Park kiss cam. That kiss took place during LGBT Night — and as some fans have pointed out on reddit, the Giants haven’t featured a same-sex couple kissing on camera at LGBT Night since then.

“The last LGBT Pride night or two at ATT did not feature any gay kisses and boy did we boooooo,” redditor ImFeklhr wrote. “If I recall the boos lasted right through to the first pitch of the next inning. Most people in the stadium couldn’t figure out what the problem was!”

The Dodgers have now officially one-upped their division rivals, showing that you don’t have to wait for LGBT Night to have a same-sex couple on the ballpark kiss cam.

L.A. also won the game, 6-4.

The Moment Eddie Routh’s Parents Learned He Killed ‘American Sniper’ Chris Kyle

Jodi and Ray Routh’s son, Eddie, a Marine Corps veteran, was recently convicted of murdering former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle — the man who inspired the movie American Sniper — and Kyle’s friend, Chris Littlefield. The parents say their son, who was suffering from PTSD and severe mental illness, had sought treatment from the VA and was released from the hospital a week before the shootings.

In the video above, Jodi takes Dr. Phil through the moment she found out her son killed Kyle and Littlefield. “Our daughter Laura calls. She is hysterical, and I knew the moment I heard her voice that something really had gone wrong. And she tells me Eddie’s killed two people,” Jodi says. “My heart just kept saying, ‘No, no. Eddie could never do this.’”

Jodi says she had a gut feeling who the victims were. “When she told me he was driving a black truck, I knew that truck. I’ve seen it before,” she says. “I knew it was Chris’ truck. I had Chris’ number in my phone, and I dialed it, and no one answered. It was a heart-stopping moment.”

Dr. Phil’s entire interview with the Rouths airs Monday.

The Most Cinematic Moment You Can Have at Home

Take a break, take a bath, and take a breath. Your body and your soul will thank you. And if you would like more advice, read on.

It is Feb. 18 and I just had my first bath of 2015. I dream about baths usually in the late evenings when my head finally hits the pillow and I think about how nice a bath would be but I am too tired to take one. Tonight I was reminded of the power of baths.

Baths have been considered water therapy since the ancient times. Clearly Cleopatra and the Romans knew something. But why a bath? It may not be as efficient in terms of cleaning as compared to showers. Baths use up a lot of water and take time — both of these resources are precious. Yet a bath is a moment of pure pleasure, of wellness, and as Ramona Emerson said in a recent issue of Allure Magazine, “A bath is cinematic in a way that few household activities are.”

To me, there are three parts to an amazing bath.

1. The Ritual aspect of baths: A bath is alone time (at least the baths I am talking about are). It is an opportunity to enjoy relaxing music or silence, to reconnect with one’s body and one’s breath.

2. The Therapeutic aspect of baths: While water is therapeutic on its own, by creating this feeling of weightlessness for the human body, products will enhance these beneficial properties. Whether detoxifying, relaxing, or invigorating, salts, oils and other substances can transform a bath into medicine.

3. The Sanctuary aspect of baths: With just a few candles and some fresh flowers, a simple bathroom can become a magical area. The environment is as important as the act of bathing.

Tips for an amazing bath:

From the dermatologist, Dr. Luigi L. Polla:

To avoid having the hot water dry your skin out, avoid soapy gels and bubbles. Instead, use oil-based products (Aromatherapy Associates, Clarins), and use more than your instincts tell you to. Milk bath products (Weleda) and herbal bath soaks (Kneipp) are also ideal. Epsom salts are an oldie and goodie — a true classic to alleviate pain, swelling, and inflammation. Make sure to moisturize immediately upon getting out of the bath, when your skin is still moist (especially if you have been in the bath long enough to get prune-y skin).

From the fish, Dr. Barbara Polla:

Lit candles and a window in the bathroom, that opens on to let in the sound of the wind rustling the leaves of the trees is the essence of luxury. For those of use without a window in our bathroom, an iPod, perhaps playing the sounds of nature, specifically the evening wind rustling the leaves of trees, can do the trick.

A great bathrobe is essential to prolong the luxurious, warm feeling of the bath. I loved my full-length deep blue velvet Christian Dior robe, which made me feel regal (my daughter loved it so much it now lives with her).

The Rise of the Real Girl: Air-Dried Hair, Fresh Skin, and Luxe Lip Balm Are Having a Moment

Photographed by Kevin Tachman

When the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show touched down in London this past December in a flurry of feathers, lace, and bombshell ombré hair extensions, it was the first time in recent memory that a barrel wave had been spotted on any runway from New York to Paris. It offered a stark contrast to spring shows like Rodarte, where coiffeuse Odile Gilbert asked every model how she wanted to wear her hair “in real life” before settling on a loose, no-fuss style that can best be described as artfully undone—barely done, even.

At Louis Vuitton, where hairstylist Paul Hanlon did little more than tuck a few loose strands behind the ear here and there, models like Jean Campbell and Amanda Murphy looked like they’d popped by the show on their day off. And at Christian Dior, “unfettered” was the directive designer Raf Simons gave to Guido Palau, who used an oil-infused shampoo and let hair air-dry for a “straight, but not too straight, de-frizzed, but not overly blown-out” effect. Girls on the runway looked more like girls on the street—and that was the point.

“My idea of the chicest woman now is someone who comes in with hair just above the collarbone, the ends untouched, and with color so subtle you can’t tell anything’s been done,” says Palau. “It’s a Céline attitude—that everything should be effortless,” he says, referring to the cultish label designed by Phoebe Philo and embodied by the ultimate icon of cool, model Daria Werbowy.

That means that this season, the bouncy salon blowout has been replaced with a halo of flyways, tinted moisturizer, or a swipe of lip balm is the only makeup you need, and jeans—high-waisted at Rodarte and Saint Laurent; tight, black, and sexy at Givenchy; slouchy and cuffed at the ankle at Alexander Wang—are suddenly among the most coveted pieces in your closet. Some might call it normcore; others just call it real. It’s inspired by the effortless sensibility of social media and street style stars like Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lily Aldridge, Kate Moss, and Caroline de Maigret, the French model and music producer whose rumpled-chic hair has inspired a fan blog of its own.

Hedi Slimane has been a pioneer of real girl (via rock girl) chic since arriving at Saint Laurent. Didier Malige, Slimane’s go-to backstage stylist, credits the French-born, L.A.-based designer’s European sensibility for a mentality that values attitude over excessive primping. “I don’t even think there are blowdry bars in Paris,” Malige jokes. “They’re just not cool.” He often sees Slimane’s carefully cast corps of models about a day or two in advance of the designer’s show, so he can give them a trim, or a long fringe that “looks like its always been there” before the lights come up on the runway. Think of it as less of a haircut, and more of a relaxed hair attitude.

Of course, for the real real girl—the kind for whom walking a runway is not her day job—keeping it casual, while polished, can prove more of a challenge. “Actual real women often don’t know if their hair looks natural, or if it looks like a mess, so they just have a blowout,” says Palau sympathetically of navigating the fine line between undone and sloppy. For Gilbert, it starts with how you cleanse your hair. “To make this kind of thing work, one day you shampoo and condition, then maybe one day you only do conditioner, and then the next day only shampoo at the roots,” she says. Styling creams, like Phyto 7 or Tresemmé Perfectly Undone, and the increasingly popular texturizing sprays, like Bumble and Bumble. Prep, Oribe Dry, or Redken Wind Blown 05—applied to dry lengths—add grit and pliable hold.

It’s a stylistic sweet spot that extends to makeup, too. British makeup artist Lucia Pica describes the matte skin and groomed brows she created backstage at both Roksanda Ilincic and Peter Pilotto’s spring collections as “beauty that is so minimal that it feels as if the girl has done it herself. There is makeup there,” she insists, “it’s just stripped down.”

Pica, with her dark, brow-sweeping bangs, creamy pale skin, and signature swipe of Chanel Rouge Noir lipstick—pressed on with her fingertips—may be her own best advertisement for the season’s refreshing and realistic new approach. “My personal routine takes about seven minutes,” she says, detailing the process by which she blends a lightweight foundation with “a lot” of moisturizer, and then smudges a balm over espresso eyeliner and some taupe shadow at her lash-line. When she applies her mascara, she does so just at the root of the lashes, for a hint of definition. It’s a system she has developed as much for aesthetic as practical purposes (to navigate her 7:00 a.m. call times), a strategy other busy women will surely appreciate. “We don’t want to give up the glamour,” says Pica, “we just want to do it fast.” That’s as real as it gets.

Most people know 90s pop sensation Shanice for her Grammy-nominated hit song, “I Love Your Smile” and actor Flex Alexander from his hit TV show, “One on One,” but few people know this fairytale couple both faced career stumbling blocks and quickly hit financial rock bottom. Flex and Shanice realized that they needed to take their wedding vow “for richer or poorer” to heart, so with their two adorable kids, 12-year-old Imani and 10-year-old Elijah, in tow, they moved into a rental home and brought their hilarious extended family into the mix to help cover the cost. A total of nine people, including Shanice’s “momager” Crystal, make this truly a full house where anyone’s business becomes everyone’s business.

Jimmy Fallon And Craig Robinson Play 'Take 5' In Magical Behind-The-Scenes Moment

Jimmy Fallon just proved once again why he’s the best.

While taping promos for “The Tonight Show,” Fallon and Craig Robinson showed off their piano skills by totally killing it on “Take 5,” a jazz piece made famous by The Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Fallon is known for his musical moxie, performing everything from barbershop remixes of hip hop classics to hilarious originals like “Balls In Your Mouth,” a song obviously about raising awareness for the dangers of oil spills. But this magical behind-the-scenes moment reminds us why America fell in love with the “Tonight Show” host in the first place: He’s just a regular guy who loves to perform.

“The Tonight Show” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.

Rachel Bilson's Love For Cheetos Leads To A Major TMI Moment

There’s no shame in Rachel Bilson’s game.

In an interview with Health magazine’s June issue, Bilson shared details on embracing her body in her 30s, and oh yeah, her TMI moment with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

rachel bilson

The “Hart Of Dixie” star told Health that she feels much better about her body now that she’s 32:

“You’re so much more comfortable and don’t give a crap about the stupid things that you cared about when you were in your 20s. I would never want to do my 20s again. I hate that our society is so focused on that body-image stuff. Girls growing up now are aware of their bodies instead of what’s important. Live your life and be a kid and don’t think, ‘I wish I was skinnier. I wish my butt wasn’t so fat,'” Bilson said.

If it wasn’t already clear that Bilson is super comfortable in her own skin, this gross detail she disclosed about her tumultuous relationship with Cheetos will erase any doubt you have. When asked by the magazine when she “feels her all-time unhealthiest,” Bilson told Health, “My unhealthiest is when I binge on Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, because it happens. I binge. I can admit it. I’ve actually gotten better this year. It got to the point where I was eating them so much that, like, you poop red every day! You’re like, ‘OK, I don’t know what’s going through my body, but I probably should stop. There are problems.'”

We probably didn’t need to know all that, Rachel. But thanks for sharing?

Head over to Health for the full interview with Rachel Bilson.
