P. Diddy & Pharrell “Finna Get Loose,” Future “I Serve That Base,” & More | Daily Visuals 8.6.15

Throwback Thursday really does live up to its name as today’s visuals feature artists who dominated the 90’s.

First off is P. Diddy who enlists the talents of Skateboard P to help him jam out in a club scene similar to that of the infamous Tunnel (80’s babies know what I’m talking about) on this Hype Williams directed “Finna Get Loose.”

On the other side of the states Warren G utilizes vocals left behind by Nate D-O-Double-G (R.I.P.) and kicks that Left Coast G-funk that’s been absent for quite some time on his latest cut, “My House.”

And leave it to a rapper like Future to take TBT to the next level. For the visuals to “I Serve The Base” Ciara’s baby daddy uses stock footage of his trapping days from 2004 to give you a better idea of the kind of life he came from to make it this far. Russell Wilson better take notice!

Check out the rest of today’s releases which include work from legendary group Public Enemy, T-Pain, and more.

In the midst of his artist, Meek Mill firing Twitter shots at his boy, Drake, Rick Ross drops visuals for the aptly titled “Family Ties” off last years Hood Billionaire album. Playing the Bawse role as only he can, the robust rapper does what he does best: rub his jewel encrusted hands together while rapping about the lavish life that we thought 50 Cent was living this whole time. Apparently his whole life has been a Rent-A-Center commercial.

Speaking of living, Pharrell Williams releases another upbeat song with a message accompanied by visuals that span the world and takes a look at different cultures and ways of life in “Freedom.” Missing from this video was a cameo from his old partner, Chad Hugo. How you travel the world and not drop in on your old drum machine chum?

Check out the rest of today’s visuals which include work from Juicy J, Trina, and more.

Drake, Dr. Dre & Pharrell Among Several Stars With Radio Shows On Beats 1

Tech giant Apple has already conquered the worlds of smartphones and moving into the realm of wearable devices. The next stop for the company and its Apple Music arm is the launching of its free radio service Beats 1, which will feature some big celebrity names as hosts of their own programs.

This coming Tuesday, BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe will spearhead Beats 1, which is a free, streaming Internet radio station platform that will blast across smartphones, laptops, and other smart devices. The New York Times profiled Lowe and examined parts of his upcoming venture, while announcing some of the big names that are set to have their own stations such as Drake, Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Jaden Smith and several other stars.

More from the Times:

The new gig also puts Mr. Lowe, 41, in the middle of the music industry’s latest battleground: streaming. Beats 1 is part of a revamped music strategy for Apple, which revolutionized the music world with iTunes and the iPod but lately has sat on the sidelines as upstarts like Spotify, Pandora and SoundCloud lure listeners by making it easy to play songs online.

Last year, Apple paid $ 3 billion for one of those upstarts, Beats, and this month the company unveiled a multifaceted new service, Apple Music, which in addition to Beats 1 includes a subscription streaming service and a media platform for artists called Connect. It has signed a gaggle of celebrities to do shows on Beats 1, among them Pharrell Williams, Drake, even Elton John. Yet the mixed reaction to Apple’s plans — including a complaint by Taylor Swift over royalties that led to a remarkable turnaround by Apple — shows how volatile the streaming music market is.

Dr. Dre’s show will be, fittingly, titled “The Pharmacy,” while Lowe, Hot 97’s Ebro Darden, and  Julie Adenuga will have weekday anchor duties on Beats 1.

Learn more about Beats 1 here.

(AllHipHop News) Pharrell Williams is serving as an executive producer for the upcoming film Dope. The Grammy winning artist has also taken on the task of curating the music for the movie’s soundtrack, and P went into the vaults to pull out some classic cuts from the 1990’s.

Rick Famuyiwa (The Wood, Brown Sugar) directed Dope. Along with Pharrell, the film was produced by Forest Whitaker and co-executive produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs. The Dope soundtrack is scheduled for release on June 16. The movie hits theaters June 19. Pre-order the album here.

Pharrell, Mobb Deep, Noreaga & More Appear On Entourage Movie Soundtrack

Besides from the numerous cameos, one attribute that has always made Entourage stand out is the series’ music. Whether it was top-tier artists such as Kanye West previewing future smashes (“Good Life”) or proudly independent rappers like Skyzoo getting a good look (“Popularity”), fans of the show were always given an opportunity to be put up on Hip-Hop they normally wouldn’t have been privy to.

What’s not broke can’t be fixed and the Entourage movie soundtrack subscribes to much of the same. Instead of recruiting buzzworthy names of today’s industry to roll the dice in attempts of creating something great, music supervisor Scott Vener kept it familiar and adding some classic East Coast records to be the foundation for the score. Songs like Mobb Deep’s “Give Up The Goods (Just Step)”, Noreaga’s “Superthug” and Jim Jones’ “Fly High” are nestled in between newer joints in Pharrell’s “Hunter” and Diplo, DJ Snake and Big Freedia’s “Drop.”

“My favorite part about the music of ‘Entourage’ is having the ability to play any genre of music without it feeling out-of-place,” Vener says, while touching on his song selection process. Entourage director Doug Ellin couldn’t have agreed more.

“Music has always been an integral part of ‘Entourage’ and the movie is no different,” says Ellin. “The music itself, like the boys and like Los Angeles, is another character that we hope the audience falls in love with.”

The Entourage movie soundtrack is currently available on iTunes for the taking. The album cover can be seen below.

Pharrell Teams With The U.N. For International Day Of Happiness [Photos]

There’s probably no one more suited at ushering in the International Day of Happiness than Pharrell. He’s the officially spokesperson of all things “Happy.”

The Unites Nations tapped Pharrell to share his  wisdom with a room of young minds at New York City’s Empire State Building. He encouraged his tiny listeners  (and their parents) to learn “the importance of happiness,” and follow their dreams.

Pretty heavy stuff for such young ears, but it’s never too early to pick up life lessons like this one: “You should know that happiness is your birth right.”

Pharrell also lit the Empire State Building yellow (the color of happiness).

Could Marvin Gaye’s Family Be Coming After Pharrell Again?

Wellllll as if this week wasn’t bad enough for Pharrell and Robin Thicke. Pharrell may be getting ready for another battle with the Marvin Gaye Estate over his song “Happy”. Jurors determined that Robin Thicke and producer Pharrell violated the rights of the late Marvin Gaye and now must pay $ 7.4 million. The copyright case stated that the pair essentially stole the sound of Marvin Gaye’s hit song “Got To Give It Up.” The problem now is there are conversations taken place about the Gaye estate going after Pharrell for “Happy” sounding like Marvin Gaye’s “Aint That Peculiar”. This may not end well. Take a listen to the mashup below and tell us what you think.

Robin Thicke & Pharrell Ordered To Pay $7.3M To Marvin Gaye’s Family For Jacking “Blurred Lines”

Robin Thicke and Pharrell had their fun getting rich off of Marvin Gaye’s handiwork but now it’s time to pay the piper. In other words, fork over a good chunk of those incredulous profits they made from the ubiquitous single, “Blurred Lines.”

A jury of their peers has agreed that the Star Trek pair copied Gaye’s 1977 smash hit “Got to Give Up” and Variety is reporting that they’ll have to pay $ 7.3 million to the family for copyright infringement. “Blurred Lines” co-star Clifford Harris Jr., a.k.a. T.I. was also named in the lawsuit but it was specified if he would have to break off his reported $ 704,774 in earnings.

The eight-person jury ceased its full day of closed-door deliberations last Friday and resumed on Tuesday hearing to reach the verdict. The Gaye family was originally asking for $ 25 million in damages but they’re still happy with the outcome.

“Right now, I feel free,” Marvin Gaye’s daughter, Nona Gaye, said after the verdict was passed. “Free from … Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke’s chains and what they tried to keep on us and the lies that were told.” Thicke and Williams made a reported $ 5,658,214 and $ 5,153,457, respectively but the money stream will end soon. Richard Busch, the Gaye family lawyer, is filing official paperwork next week to halt sales of “Blurred Lines.”

Released on March 26, 2013, “Blurred Lines” went on to become the top song of the year, selling more than seven million records in the United States alone.

Hit the flip to hear both songs side by side.
