Eazy-E’s Family Revealed New Tombstone On Compton Rapper’s 55th Birthday

N.W.A. Live In Concert

Source: Raymond Boyd / Getty

Eazy-E’s family hooked up the N.W.A founder with a new tombstone to mark what would have been his 55th birthday. On Saturday (Sept. 7), a public ceremony was held at the Rose Hill Memorial Park and Mortuary in Whittier, California.

Reports HipHopDX:

According to several Instagram posts, Eazy’s new tombstone is more elaborate but contains the same text as the first one, “We Loved Him A Lot But God Loved Him More.”

The updated version, however, features his signature red logo, autograph, the title “The Godfather of Gangsta Rap” written in Old English and several iconic photos of the late gangsta rap pioneer. Toward the bottom it reads, “We Put Compton On The Map.”

Eazy-E reportedly passed away in 1995 from complications from AIDS—but not everyone thinks so. Already a legend at the time of his death, the gangsta turned rapper’s iconic status has only continued to grow.

EXCLUSIVE: Crooked I Criticizes Black Rappers For Being Afraid To Talk About Social Issues (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) With police brutality being a national news story for over a year and the 2016 presidential campaign dominating coverage, some Hip Hop artists have used their status to address social/political issues. According to Kxng Crooked I, more rappers need to step up and speak on the things taking place in America today.

“I just hate the way that Black rappers are scared to talk about what’s going on in America,” said Crooked. “They’re so tune into syrup, pills, weed, cars, women. If you take those subject matters away from them, they don’t rap about sh*t.”

The Slaughterhouse member also mentioned he is thinking about no longer using the word “n*gga.” In Crooked’s view, non-Black people are over abusing the n-word.

“When I say I don’t think you should say that, they say ‘well, you say it’.’ You Know what? I have to give some kind of credit to that comment,” explained Crooked.

Eminem Talks Best Rappers Out & Why He Doesn’t Go On The Internet

Eminem has a very big week ahead musically and he’s not even releasing a solo album. The soundtrack to Southpaw, the upcoming drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and 50 Cent is being released via Shady Records and features two leadoff singles from the “Phenomenal” rapper.

While speaking to The New York Times, Eminem explained when he knew to keep one finger on the game’s pulse and when not to.

Are you plugged in with current rap music?

I try to stay up on everything that’s out. I love [Lil] Wayne, Drake, Big Sean, Schoolboy Q. I love Kendrick [Lamar]. I just try to pay attention to what’s out. Wayne puts out a new song, and my ears perk up. There are certain artists that make me do that just because of the caliber that they rhyme at — it’s like candy to me. Kendrick, the way he puts albums together — front to back, they’re like pieces of art. But hip-hop needs Drake, too. Hip-hop needs Big Sean. I feel like hip-hop is in a good place right now. There’s this balance of things going on, and it feels like some of the best rappers are the most successful. Sometimes that’s not the case.

Do you feel competitive with the Kanyes and Drakes and Kendricks of the world? You seem a little removed from that.

Kanye, as well — I forgot to mention Kanye. I’ll always be lyrically competitive.

Where do you hear new stuff?

Other people tell me about it and pull it up for me. I wait for other people to show it to me. I don’t particularly go on the Internet, because the experiences that I’ve had are not good. It’s not productive for me.

You don’t want to Google your own name?

Once I’m on the computer, it’s over, because I’m tempted to look at everything. I went on the computer recently and got on one site, read five comments and was like, “Man.” I have friends that do it — rapper friends. I’m like, “I don’t know how you do that.” Because you end up wanting to fight someone, kill them, or kill yourself — usually all three at once.

Do you think Twitter and Instagram have affected rap?

I know there are a lot of Twitter beefs. People used to just make songs. But it is what it is. The world’s forever changing, and you’ve just gotta adapt and evolve.

Southpaw (Music from and Inspired By the Motion Picture) drops on July 24. Read the rest of the interview over at The New York Times.

Jim Jones “Cops And Rappers,” Shawty Lo “Dope Money, & More | Daily Visuals 7.10.15

The summer of former Love & Hip Hop cast members continues. The latest LHH alumni to drop a musical visual is Dip Set Capo, Jim Jones with his “latest” release, 2012’s “Cops And Rappers.”

Why he decided to breathe life into this 3-year-old cut sans Game is anyone’s guess, but he did. Complete with two models, a room, and nothing else. That is all.

Shawty Lo also decides to go into the stash and pull out a cut from his half year old mixtape, King Of Bankhead. “Dope Money” follows Shawty and Young Scooter around the A as they flaunt cash, jewelry, and cars. In other words this video actually had production value.

Check out more of today’s releases which include work from Slim Thug, Tyler Thomas, Madchild, FatKidsBrotha, and more.

Exclusive: Tink Names Her Top 3 Female Rappers [VIDEO]

Earlier in the year, Hip-Hop Wired presented the world with a definitive list for the best female rappers every to cold rock a microphone.

On the flipside, Timbaland protégé Tink has been the most exciting female rapper to hit the scene since obviously, Nicki Minaj. So much to the point where grouping her into a generalized “female rappers” category wouldn’t do her skill set any justice.

Nonetheless, the Chicago MC respects the game and rattled off her top three females of all-time (who not-so-ironically appeared at the top of our aforementioned list).

As for her highly anticipated debut album Think Tink, she insists that the project is still slated for a fall release but building a buzz opposed to a black album is still priority No. 1.

Kxng Crooked (Crooked I) Says Gay Rappers Should Come Out (VIDEO/POLL)

(AllHipHop News) Homosexuality is still the”third rail” of Hip Hop. While Odd Future’s Frank Ocean has revealed his first love was another man and former BET executive Darren “Buttah Man” Brin has spoken publicly about being gay, there are very few openly homosexual males in Hip Hop. Kxng Crooked thinks it is time for that to change.

[ALSO READ: BET Hip Hop Executive Buttah Man Discusses His Decision To Come Out As Gay]

“It’s like, if you’re gay, you’re just a gay guy,” said Crooked. “There’s a lot of people that came out in the industry. A lot of executives that we’ve known for years.”

The Slaughterhouse member named DreamWorks co-founder and Geffen Records creator David Geffen as an example of an openly gay man in the entertainment business.

Geffen Records has been associated with acts like Common, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg, but David Geffen is not personally viewed as being connected to the culture. Crooked wants closeted rappers to follow Geffen’s openness.

“Here’s my thing, everybody knows the gay rappers,” stated Crooked. “Or they have their opinions on who is gay. So my whole thing is just come out. ”

He added, “If you’re a gay rapper, it’s not that important to hide it. It’s more important that you say it, if Hip Hop is the final frontier for masculinity in music… If football is one of the final frontiers of masculinity in sports and you got guys coming out, why not in Hip Hop.”

‘Morning Joe’ Hosts Blame Rappers For Racist Frat Video And Twitter Responds In The Best Possible Way

Black Twitter blasted the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday for their controversial remarks about the racist actions of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity members at the University of Oklahoma.

Hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough brought up rapper Waka Flocka Flame’s “disgust” with the video and his decision to cancel his upcoming campus appearance before suggesting that rappers are in fact to blame for the fraternity’s racist behavior.

“If you look at every single song, I guess you call these, that he’s written, it’s a bunch of garbage,” Brzezinski said. “It’s full of N-words, it’s full of F-words. It’s wrong. And he shouldn’t be disgusted with them, he should be disgusted with himself.”

“The kids that are buying hip-hop or gangster rap, it’s a white audience, and they hear this over and over again,” Scarborough added. “So do they hear this at home? Well, chances are good, no, they heard a lot of this from guys like this who are now acting shocked.”

Brzezsinski clarified her comments in a later appearance on MSNBC, saying, “The students in the video are responsible for their behavior. And as we said on our show this morning, they did it, and it’s beyond appalling.”

“In no way is anybody else to blame for what they did on that bus,” she continued. “They are responsible and they made that choice.”

But the backlash had already begun. Twitter users took to their timelines to slam the statements through a satirical hashtag that has since become a trending topic: #RapAlbumsThatCausedSlavery.

Here are just a few examples of the tweets proving Black Twitter never disappoints:
