Cardi B Hurled Shoe At Nicki Minaj, Rah Ali Issues A Speedknot Fade At NYFW?

Harper's BAZAAR Celebrates 'ICONS By Carine Roitfeld' At The Plaza Hotel Presented By Infor, Estee Lauder, Saks Fifth Avenue, Fujifilm Instax, Genesis, And Stella Artois - Arrivals

Things have escalated between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. The beef is sizzling with word that the two rappers got into an altercation at a New York Fashion Week party while word is Rah Ali tried to put hands on Cardi.

According to TMZ, it went down at the Harper’s BAZAAR Icons party for NYFW at the Plaza Hotel. Cardi B reportedly stepped to Nicki but security intervened. Apparently, that’s when Cardi took off her shoe and hurled it at Nicki.

She was then escorted out by security, while rocking only one shoe. Of course, there is footage (post-altercation, though).

Instagram Photo

But wait, there’s more. It seems that reality star Rah Ali (who we would never want any smoke with) was part of Nicki’s entourage, and was desperately seeking to bless Cardi with the fade. Again, there is footage.

It seems like Rah Ali managed to steal on Cardi since it looks like the Bronx rapper caught a mean speed knot above her left eye.

Afterwards, Cardi took to Instagram to explain it was Nicki talking about her newborn baby, Kulture, that set her off.

“I’ve let a lot of sh*t slide!  I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me …But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f*ckin off!!,” read part of her message on Instagram

Yes, Twitter is lit with the commentary.

The tea is scorching and this story is still developing. Peep the best reactions in the gallery below.

The Paris Vintage Shoe Store That’s a Resource for Top Designers

PARIS — Situated among orthopedic shoe stores, natural wine bars and bobo restaurants, La Petite Fripe sells vintage footwear to fashion designers and their Parisian muses.
The pocket-sized boutique, located in the 11th arrondissement’s trendier zone, exclusively sells unworn, dead stock vintage shoes. While only open since September, the store has quickly culled a fan base including girl-about-town Clara Cornet, model Louise Follain and actress Pauline Jacquard. It has also become a sourcing ground of inspiration for footwear designers at some of Paris’ leading fashion houses, with designers accounting for half the shop’s sales.
Founded by antique and vintage dealer Lhassan Oubakrim, La Petite Fripe’s shelves have recently housed an assortment of Eighties metallic mule pumps, dandy loafers and embroidered mukluk boots. Shoes are typically priced around 80 euros, with boots hitting the highest price point at about 280 euros.
Here, Oubakrim speaks with WWD on about his store.
WWD: What is your work experience prior to opening this boutique?
Lhassan Oubakrim: I have been a bargain hunter and an antique dealer for years. I love unexpected discoveries and the feeling of finding one amazing piece amongst a mountain of s–t. It is both my work and my passion.
I had another shop before. The first Petite Fripe was on

Shoe Shining Coon Sheriff David Clarke Takes Gig At Pro-Trump PAC

David Clarke, the former Milwaukee County Sheriff and opponent of Black Lives Matter, has taken a position with a political action committee in support of President Donald Trump. The America First Action PAC announced the hire Tuesday, this after chatter that Clarke was set to join the Trump administration earlier this year.

The Hill reports:

America First Action praised the former sheriff’s career in law enforcement in a statement announcing his new role as its senior advisor and spokesman.

“David Clarke is an American patriot, and we are very proud to welcome him to America First,” the group’s president, Brian O. Walsh, said.

“Having spent a lifetime in law enforcement — protecting and serving his community and fighting for justice and the Second Amendment — Sheriff Clarke doesn’t just believe in making America safe again; he’s devoted his life to it.”

Clarke resigned last week after months of speculation that he may join the Trump administration. In May, Clarke said he had accepted a job in the Department of Homeland Security but reportedly retracted his acceptance of the position in June.

Clarke said he’s going to use the position to shine more shoes, excuse us, push Trump’s agenda of making America great again, or whatever that slogan was.

Jamie Chung Dispenses Shoe Advice at Nine West

Jamie Chung kicked off her New York Fashion Week the way many do‚ talking about shoes.
“Leopard, lace-up anything, a good bootie, loafers, flats,” the actress said of her favorite shoes for fall. She was in the right place, at least.
Chung, along with InStyle, hosted an intimate in-store event at Nine West’s Lexington Ave. boutique in honor of the brand’s new fall campaign. Inside the store, guests tried on Nine West’s fall offerings, sampled mini-tacos and spring rolls, swilled Champagne, and generally gossiped about the week ahead. “I love seeing what new trends are in,” Chung said. “I like seeing what everyone in the front row is wearing, like, ‘Oh, that’s an interesting combination.’ I’ve befriended most of these women [in the front row], so it’s nice to see them.”
The actress, who will next appear in the indie film “A Year and Change” alongside fiancé Bryan Greenberg (who joined Chung at the soiree, but chose to wait for her outside rather than try on shoes himself) did not divulge her exact itinerary for the days ahead, but, instead shared her shoe strategy. “I’ll have a basic shoe in then I’ll swap out the outfit,” she said. Kartell Teams Up with No. 21 for Shoe Collaboration

Kartell has teamed with Italian fashion label No. 21 to create a new shoe style for the next spring season.
Alessandro Dell’Acqua, founder and creative director of the Milanese upper contemporary brand, designed a flat sandal featuring a chunky sole and a feminine bow, which pays tribute to No. 21  shoes launched last season. In keeping with Kartell’s core business, the sandal, called “Knot,” is realized using plastic in a glossy variation for the knot, while the sole has a mat finishing.
The shoe style will be available in five colors — black, powder pink, mustard yellow, khaki green and burgundy.
“It was challenging to recreate the knot using a material like plastic,” said Dell’Acqua, who is at his first co-branding project with his N°21 brand. “All the knots are made by hand and Kartell showed to have the best technical skills to realize a product which looks beautiful, I think.”
The “Knot” sandal, which will retail at 180 euros, or about $ 203 at current exchange, is part of the Kartell à la Mode line, already including 6 shoe styles and a bag.
“During the upcoming Milan Fashion Week we will also launch a new bag realized in collaboration with a fashion brand,” said Kartell marketing

The It Shoe of Fall 2015 Has Arrived: Here’s Why We’re Head Over Heels for It

gucci fur loafers fall 2015

Fashion can’t get enough of Alessandro Michele’s new vision at Gucci, all magpie this and estate sale that. So it comes as no surprise that the chief item on Vogue.com’s shopping list was those fur-lined loafers: A grand total of five staffers had it down as a must-buy for fall. “I think every time Gucci goes through a reimagining, as it is now, I fall head over heels in love again with that horse bit and want whatever classic-with-a-twist version is next,” explains Vogue Creative Digital Director Sally Singer. “It’s just such a brilliant bourgeois signature—and these are both arch and fluffy.”

Part shaggy slipper, part preppy loafer, the shoe is not only a mash-up of styles but perhaps also a mash-up of memories. The school shoe silhouette itself harkens back to that first pair of loafers we all bought in our teens; the furry sole to a comfortable slide we’ve shuffled around in at home; the horse bit logo to images of Jackie O in the seventies, her Gucci bag casually slung over her shoulder.

So how to wear fall’s most coveted flat? Take cues from our editors and try it out with elevated basics. The eye-catching nature of the shoe means you don’t have to try too hard from the ankle up (though you might want to show it off with some cropped trousers, either of the flared or frayed variety). And it only makes sense to pair fall’s coziest loafer with equally cozy and chic silk pieces, such as a lace-trimmed slip or a loosely belted kimono wrap. Stepping into the new season doesn’t get much comfier—or cooler—than that.

Julianne Moore Proves That This Ugly-Pretty Shoe Trend Still Has Legs

julianne moore celeb style

Summer-shoe options leave something to be desired, especially for women in the city. Stilettos can be wearing, kitten heels too prim, while the ugly-pretty sandal is a remedy for tired soles, quite literally. Along with the return of the Teva, Birkenstocks made an epic comeback a couple summers ago thanks to fashion houses such as Céline, Givenchy, and Giambattista Valli, who showed elevated versions on the runway. And if Academy Award–winning actress Julianne Moore is anything to go by, then it appears that the sandal is the ugly-pretty shoe gift that keeps on giving.

Spotted earlier today en route to yoga, the actress kept cool in shades of gray and black. The addition of her natty, black fedora lent her look a sense of polish but with the practicality of living in Manhattan. It was Moore’s Birkenstocks though—which have been particularly popular amongst New Yorkers in optic white—that stole the show. After all, when it comes to an off-duty wardrobe, comfort and style should have equal footing.

Angelina Jolie Pitt Steps Out in the Best Shoe for Summer Travel

Angelina Jolie

The Cannes Film Festival might have rejected flats but the fashion community, and everyone else, still loved the wardrobe staple. And with A-listers like Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, and Aymeline Valade sporting them everywhere from the street to the red carpet, the practical shoe is getting a decidedly fancy upgrade. Arriving at London Heathrow with son Maddox, actress Angelina Jolie cut a lean figure in a sleek all-black look. but it was her subtle nude slippers that stole the show.

While air travel is never easy or enjoyable, Jolie Pitt wears the ideal traveling ensemble in shades of black, adding contrast with a weathered Louis Vuitton keepall. The jacket is perfect for boarding passes and any trinkets belonging to the little Jolie Pitts, while the trousers keep a clean line. To fast-track your way through security, slip on streamlined skimmers like these; they’ll make your look first class in a heartbeat.

Why I Fell for the Flip-Flop: Confessions of a Pretty/Ugly Shoe Convert

for and against flip flops

I call them “New York no-nos,” those wardrobe items that urbane city-dwellers proudly—even snobbishly—avoid. There is a certain shade of Britney Spears bubblegum pink, for instance, that I remember being popular in the halls of my Midwestern high school that you’ll never spot, except on an out-of-towner, on a New York street. Crocs are all but forbidden within the five boroughs. Cargo shorts are shunned. Wear a trucker hat at your own peril. But there’s one no-no that I’ve come to embrace lately which has me re-thinking all of my preconceived clothing notions: I am now a certified fan of flip-flops.

We’ve embraced the Birkenstock, that icon of ergonomic ugliness. The gladiator shoe has had more comebacks than Cher. Even the mandal, an off-putting word if there ever was one, has shed its bad reputation. But what gives with the flip-flop, the summer sandal that most stylish folks just can’t seem to accept? Ask any of your friends about them and they will undoubtedly give you a laundry list of reasons why the flip-flop is just wrong. That a flimsy plastic thong is inappropriate anywhere but the beach. That it is un-hygienic to allow your feet to be that close to the sidewalk. That it is dangerous to traipse along a crowded sidewalk with your toes unprotected against stranger’s stilettos. That the noise they make as you walk—the flip and the flop— is simply uncouth.

Photo: Evan Agostini/Getty Images

It’s time to get on board. How do I know this? No less than Raf Simons and Nicolas Ghesquière sent versions down their most recent resort runways for Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton. Phoebe Philo had to add pink fur to re-make the Birkenstock as a chic staple at Céline, but Simons’s and Ghesquière’s versions were remarkably unadorned and straightforward. Simons’s were sleek matte leather; Ghesquière’s shiny black plastic. Both designers showed them styled with pants, which made classic black trousers seem casual, even bohemian. The flip-flops had the effect of total luxury, as though the woman who wears them is so at ease, so effortless, she can’t be bothered to slide on anything but the sparest, most uncomplicated footwear before she slouches out the door. Who has the time to fuss over laces and straps?

And that’s precisely how you should come to think of flip-flops in 2015, as an exemplar of minimalist, aerodynamic design. One thong, one sole, and you’re on your way. It’s a simplicity that has made them an ideal shoe for thousands of years and all over the world, crafted from leather for the Egyptian phaorahs, from rawhide for the Maasai warriors, and from rice straw to wear with kimonos in Japan. The Havaiana is one of modern Brazil’s greatest fashion exports—Gisele Bündchen is certainly a believer. The Dalai Lama himself visited the White House to meet the President wearing a pair. They are truly universal, a democratic style that is often inexpensive and always easy to find.

Just last month, I spent two weeks walking endlessly around Bangkok, clocking over 23,000 steps on my pedometer on one particularly long Tuesday. But at the end of each day’s journey, when my feet were so hot and tired I thought they’d go on strike if I didn’t give them a rest, I still wouldn’t change out of my Nike sneakers, even though it was the hottest time of the year in Thailand. And then, one night, at a street food stand near Victory Monument, I looked around and noticed that I was the odd one out, that nearly everyone around me was, in fact, wearing flip-flops. They are a staple of Southeast Asian wardrobes, worn every which way you can imagine, like Converse All Stars are here: with skinny jeans on young guys that look like they’re auditioning to be in boy bands, on old ladies who sell soup on the sidewalk, on office workers trudging home in the heat. What made me think I knew better?

On my last day, I went to the enormous Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok. It’s been there over 70 years and has over 8,000 stalls, filled with everything from goldfish to shiny statues of the Buddha to, you guessed it, stacks and stacks of flip-flops in every color and every size. Fourteen days of arch-numbing walking was enough—I was ready. I bought a navy blue pair without hesitation—not quite confident enough for a bright orange pair I saw at the same stand—for the equivalent of around two American dollars. I instantly replaced them for my tired sneakers. I felt liberated. Not just because I could finally wiggle my toes, though that was nice. But because I found the courage to flout the conventions. I knew my friends back home would give me funny looks, and I didn’t care: I am the most comfortable rule-breaker in all of New York City.

Sienna Miller Steps Out in the Summer’s Hottest Shoe

Sienna Miller

Well, now it’s official. The return of the mule is complete with actress Sienna Miller cutting a chic figure in London earlier this week. While we’ve seen Jennifer Lawrence adopt the nineties throwback favorite with her wardrobe, Miller takes the look to new heights with her sleek take on suede.

Out with husband Tom Sturridge, Miller makes the simple staple look fresh when paired with a cozy cardigan, striped tee, and cigarette jeans delicately cuffed at the hem. But the best part of Miller’s mules? The tobacco color and suede texture that tie together the ensemble for a look that’s both perfectly modern and perfectly resurgent, channeling Ali MacGraw’s Love Story character and her effortlessly chic, pulled-together style.

We swear Sienna Miller leads a completely normal life:
