2018 Made In America - Day 2

Source: Lisa Lake / Getty

Jay Rock’s 2018 grind is one to be admired and if you still, after all this time, still ain’t listen to Redemption then you’re the one Jeru The Damaja was talking about on “Ya Playin’ Yaself.”

Today though the TDE rapper comes through with a visual for a non album cut in “Sh*t Real” in which he and Tee Grizzley find themselves on the run after Tee gets into a shoot out with a half-naked woman. Kinda makes you wonder why they ain’t surrender and let mami have her way with them, but hood situations almost never turn into “Dear Penthouse” material.

Back in New York Kooda B goes from Tekashi 6ix9ine’s hype dancer to his own artist while calling for 6ix9ine’s freedom in his clip to “Quagmire.” Things ain’t looking too good for Kooda B’s man, b.

Plies “Checkin On You,” T-Pain “Make That Sh*t Work,” & More | Daily Visuals 8.20.15

Who says goons don’t care about God? Plies refutes those kind of proclamations with the visuals to his confessional cut “Checkin On You” off his latest release, Ain’t No Mixtape Bih.

Surrounded by so many religious articles that the only thing missing was the the gun-toting priest from Young Thug’s “Again” video, Plies’ prayer turns out to be more of a confirmation of his blessings than a request for guidance as he asks the good Lord if he’s okay like a real homie would.

And yesterday it was Styles P, today it’s Sheek Louch – is Jadakiss gonna bless the L-O-X faithful with new material to end the week? We’ll see, but for today the big man of the Lox marks the anniversary of the release of The Clipse’s debut album, Lord Willin’, and pays homage to the Virginia twosome by kicking a hard as rocks freestyle over their “Got Damn” instrumental and having the visuals take place in the hometown of the dope duo.

Check out the rest of today’s releases which include work from T-Pain, Machine Gun Kelly, and more.

Bill Maher Calls College Student A ‘Little Sh*t’ For Criticizing Jerry Seinfeld

Political talk show host Bill Maher called a college writer a “little shit” on his HBO show Friday night for questioning comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s claim that college audiences are too politically correct.

After San Diego State University student Anthony Berteaux, a campus editor-at-large with The Huffington Post, penned an open letter to Jerry Seinfeld telling him he was disheartened that the comedian thinks college audiences are too quick to call jokes racist, sexist or prejudiced, Maher told him to back off during a segment on “Real Time.”

“Now, I sure wouldn’t want to be judged by what I wrote at 20, but stupid though I was in 1976, I wouldn’t have presumed to lecture George Carlin on comedy,” Maher said, referring to the late, famed comedian. “Though I sure wish George was around today to write a letter back to this kid, as only he could. But since he can’t, allow me: Dear you little shit, I’m sure you’re busy with your new letter explaining astrophysics to Stephen Hawking and giving jump shot pointers to Steph Curry, but try to get a clue.”

In an interview with ESPN earlier this month, Seinfeld echoed sentiments expressed by comedians Chris Rock and Larry the Cable Guy about young people taking offense too easily.

“I don’t play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t go near colleges. They’re so PC,’” Seinfeld said. “[Young people] just want to use these words: ‘That’s racist;’ ‘That’s sexist;’ ‘That’s prejudice.’ … They don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.”

In Berteaux’s open letter, he challenged Seinfeld’s argument and cited Amy Schumer as a comedian whose jokes about sensitive subjects like rape successfully highlight injustices.

“It isn’t so much that college students are too politically correct (whatever your definition of that concept is), it’s that comedy in our progressive society today can no longer afford to be crass, or provocative for the sake of being offensive,” he wrote. “Sexist humor and racist humor can no longer exist in comedy because these concepts are based on archaic ideals that have perpetrated injustice against minorities in the past.”

Cash Money’s Caskey On White Rappers Using The N-Word: “F*ck That Sh*t. They’re Just Words” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Should white rappers be allowed to use the n-word? Former White Girl Mob member V-Nasty openly used the term, and she was essentially ran uout the business. DJ Smallz Eyes asked another Caucasian rhymer about the topic –  Cash Money signee Caskey.

“I stay out of the debate, becausehonestly I don’t give a f*ck what anybody says. I don’t give a f*ck if anybody cares what I say in my dialogue,” said Caskey. “Among me and my homies, that word gets used, and we’re black and white. Everybody makes such a big deal about it. I don’t even care enough to get in the debate, so I just f*cking avoid it. But it’s like f*ck that sh*t. They’re just words.”

The Orlando based performer signed to Birdman’s Cash Money Records in 2012. Caskey has released several mixtapes including 2013’s The Transient Classics, 2014’s Black Sheep, and 2015’s The Lost Files.

Melissa Rivers Says Kathy Griffin ‘Sh-t All Over’ Joan Rivers’ Legacy

Melissa Rivers has been making the publicity rounds this week, promoting her new book, “The Book of Joan,” and in an interview with the “Today” show’s Hoda Kotb at the 92nd Street Y in New York, Rivers spoke about Kathy Griffin’s departure from “Fashion Police.”

“My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of shit all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving,” Rivers said. “And I know that that was not an intentional reading of it, but that’s how I felt …That was my takeaway, by [her] calling the comedy and the style of it old-fashioned. It’s like, I understand what you’re doing, you’re trying to save yourself, but don’t crap all over my mother to do it.”

Griffin had joined the show after Joan Rivers died, but left in March after just seven episodes. At the time, she tweeted, “I have discovered my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show and now it’s time to move on.” Rivers serves as one of the show’s executive producers.

The comedian’s exit followed that of Kelly Osbourne, who left “Fashion Police” after co-host Giuliana Rancic was slammed for her offensive comments about Zendaya’s dreadlocks during an Oscars-related telecast.

During her interview with Kotb, Rivers said she took Griffin’s comments very personally. “But as a professional, that was her choice, that’s what she did. No harm, no foul, moving on.” When asked about what Rancic said in regards to Zendaya’s hair, Rivers responded, “If something like that had happened and my mother had been alive, her reaction immediately would have been, ‘Oh, please, all this over a wig?’ Literally, it was a wig! Let’s just all relax.”

How Humor Can Help Boost Causes We Should All Give A Sh*t About

When it comes to the dark arts of moving people from apathy to action, here’s who’s cracked the code and discovered the most effective solution just might be laughter.

At a South by Southwest panel Tuesday, comedy experts took to the stage to discuss how being funny can be useful in propelling a cause. The panel, “The Hidden Power Of Humor: Creating Content With Purpose,” included participants from The Huffington Post and fundraising platforms Crowdrise and Purpose.

With no shortage of laughter and expletives, the panelists discussed how humor can boost editorial coverage of social causes. Applied correctly, a funny approach can entertain readers, reframe an issue for better understanding, challenge assumptions and call people to action, the panelists pointed out.

“By presenting themselves as self-deprecating instead of self righteous, it’s really relatable,” David Chernicoff, senior strategist at Purpose, said during the discussion.

The panelists discussed examples including President Obama’s Healthcare.gov video on BuzzFeed, the “Fitch the Homeless” campaign — which raised awareness and funds for people in need — and the humorous ACLU NSA campaign that featured everyone’s worst nightmare — a creepy Santa.

Chernicoff pointed out that “meeting people where they are” can be one of the most powerful tactics.

“The result can be lots of new people who you might not have been able to reach with your message or cause.”

MSNBC Host Hopes Trayvon Martin “Whooped The Sh*t” Out Of George Zimmerman

Melissa Harris-Perry didn’t mince words about how she sees the final minutes of Trayvon Martin’s life. To be more precise, the MSNB host hopes Martin “whopped the sh*t” out of George Zimmerman.

Reports the Huffington Post:

MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry said she hoped Martin died fighting for his life, during a speech at Cornell University’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture.

“I hope [Martin] tried to stay alive. I hope he knew that he lived in a state with a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law. And I hope he whooped the shit out of George Zimmerman,” Harris-Perry said. “And it’s not disreputable because he encountered a stranger who was prepared to kill him, and you know how I know? Because he killed him.”

Harris-Perry’s speech, titled “We Can’t Breathe: The Continuing Consequences of Inequality,” was first posted by the Cornell Review, the university’s “only conservative and libertarian publication.” The newspaper’s blog slammed the MSNBC host’s speech as “an hour-long comedy routine” and “an embarrassment for Cornell.”

Martin, 17, was gunned down by Zimmerman three years ago today, on Feb, 26, 2012. Zimmerman claims he was the victim of an unprovoked attack at the hands of the high schooler.

Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder the following year, and will not face civil rights charges, the U.S. Department of Justice announced earlier this week.

Azealia Banks Calls Kendrick Lamar Comments “Dumbest Sh*t I’ve Ever Heard A Black Man Say”

Azealia Banks joined the Twitter discussion regarding Kendrick Lamar’s Billboard cover story — particularly statements he made regarding Black people.

Citing that Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, Mo. was a travesty, Lamar continued “But when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don’t start with just a rally, don’t start from looting — it starts from within.”

The Harlem rapper focused her angst on the aforementioned statement, calling it the “dumbest sh*t I’ve ever heard a black man say.”

Banks has been at the head of multiple racial discussions in the last few weeks, directing public critiques at Iggy Azalea for cultural appropriation, arguing her case on Hot 97 and even engaging in Twitter beef with Action Bronson.

The remainder of the Broke With Exquisite Taste rapper’s commentary about Kendrick can be found after the jump.

BRUH News: Chicago Police Investigator Sh*t Himself, Charged With New Year’s Day DUI

The irony of a Chicago police investigator being busted for the type of crime he’s paid to catch officers for is tremendous–and that’s exactly the situation 28-year veteran George Roberts has found himself in.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Roberts, 50, was arrested in the wee hours of New Year’s Day on Thursday for driving under the influence of alcohol. Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala says Roberts’ 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer reeked of alcohol and he was cited for failure to use a turn signal, failure to stay in his lane and driving with no insurance.

In addition the all the formal charges, the police report also states how Roberts “soiled himself,” and had difficulty exiting his Chevy. He was also reportedly speaking with slurred speech and had a glassy-eye gaze about him during the duration of his arrest.

Although Roberts allegedly told the arresting officers he had only consumed “two rum and cokes,” he proceeded to lie down and go to sleep when he was placed in the back of the squad car.

“The matter is with the Inspector General’s office,” says Larry Merritt, a spokesman for the Independent Police Review Authority, whose department handles all misconduct allegations and use of questionable force from officers.

The Chicago-Tribune found that Roberts was released on his own recognizance and is due in Cook County Traffic Court on January 27.
