Fabolous still hasn’t issued a statement regarding the allegations that he has been physically abusive to his baby mama, Emily B aka Emily Bustamente. Even after that damning footage.

He did find time to perform in NYC last night, though.

Fab hit the stage with Jadakiss as the headliners at a show sponsored by Hot 97 at Terminal 5 as scheduled. Lil Kim even came out as a special guest.

The irony considering the Queen Bee’s own claims of domestic violence.

See footage from the show below. Has anyone linked to Fab condemned domestic violence yet? Asking for a friend.

He did thank the crowd for coming out to support, though.

Is My Hairstyle a Feminist Statement?

You may not realize it, but hair is political. From the liberated women of the 1920s chopping their hair short, to the 80s punks rocking their mohawks, hair trends often reflect political statements (intentional and unintentionally). The long and flowing hair of the 60s was a direct response to women becoming more active in the workplace and no longer being willing to put so much time into their hair. The dip dye from more recent years reflects a need for women to spend longer time between hair appointments due to a reduction in luxury spending.

I’d like to make a case for us to celebrate the blow dry, the 1960s hair revolution that freed women from the tyranny of sleepless nights and hours at the salon, and has been making a come back in recent years with the birth of the blow dry bar.

Hairdryers were originally invented back in 1890 by Alexander Godefroy in France, but the first ones suitable for home use weren’t available until the twenties. There were tragically many cases of electrocution and death. No wonder they didn’t catch on!

There seem to be two people credited with inventing the blow out as we know it today; Rose Cannon in London, and Patrick Alès in France). Alès even sold his patent to L’Oreal and was the first hairdresser to use plants to create safer and more gentle hair products with his brand Phyto, a brand still successful today.

Cannon, who owned a London salon with her husband in the 60s, talks about walking past a barber’s shop, where hairdryers were regularly used to dry men’s hair, and she had the light bulb moment of using the dryer on women’s hair too. She then happened to use her new blow wave method on the then editor of Vogue, Lady Clare Rendlesham, which led to it being written about in that evening’s newspaper. Cannon was proud of freeing women from their hair routines, despite her husband being annoyed at having just had 20 (now redundant) hood dryers delivered to the salon. No longer did women need to spend hours at the hairdressers setting their hair; and the softer and looser style was also representative of the changing roles of women too. Women were increasingly going out to work, and creating lives of their own, away from the kitchen and drudgery of housework.

Similarly to the 1920s, when women cutting their hair short, caused outrage, women embracing 60s hairstyles were also making their own political statement, intentionally or not. Both the ’20s and ’60s were monumental moments in time for the feminist movement, and women had freedoms they’d never enjoyed before. It was no coincidence that as the mind-set of women were changing, their beauty and hair regimes changed alongside them.

The recent surge in blow-dry bars to our modern high streets hints that we may well be returning to the old-age habit of having our hair styled regularly between cuts. Just like our grandmothers who often visited the salon weekly (many continuing for their whole lives!). Nicky Clark even goes so far to say that there are no iconic haircuts anymore, just blow dries. Perhaps the modern resurgence in regular styling appointments stands for its own small political statement too, just as they did in the 60s. As we edge away from the recession, are we more willing and able to show the world that we can indulge in our hair again? Just as during wartime, women embraced red lips and victory rolls, perhaps modern women are swishing their curly blow dries at the current economy, showing it that we mean business.

Serena Williams Makes a Fashion Statement for HSN

If you’re curious how Serena Williams is feeling this week, one thing is certain: She is feeling fringe.
Williams sent out 23 looks Tuesday as part of her Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection for HSN, and many featured fringe detailing. There was a suede fringe jacket, a suede asymmetric fringed skirt, a leather-fringed pencil skirt, a fringed leather cape and a leather fringe dress, to name a few. She also took her bow in a fringe skirt.
“I wanted to showcase a lot of fringe,” said Williams, following the runway show at Kia Style360.  “With our collection, a lot is available now. We had to think, ‘What’s also in style? And what is trending that people want to wear?’ Fringe is such a huge trend that we thought we could have a lot of fun with it,” she said.
Available exclusively on both during and immediately following the show, Williams’ collection also included shearling jackets, knit sweaters, printed jogger pants, suede shorts, jumpsuits, asymmetrical tops and halter dresses retailing from $ 29 to $ 159.
Mindy Grossman, chief executive officer of HSN Inc., said that Williams’ line “is one of our fastest-growing fashion businesses.”

Amber Rose Makes Feminist Statement On VMAs Red Carpet, Slandered Anyway [Photos]

Amber Rose, and Blac Chyna, tried her damndest to make a feminist statement on the 2015 MTV VMAs red carpet. She generally got slandered for her trouble anyway.

Reports Mashable:

The models stormed the red carpet clad in beige-colored clothing painted with the words “BITCH,” “SLUT,” “HOE” and other derogatory words. Beside them, two friends stood in black clothing painted with the word “FAGGOT.”

Naturally, the models stood out in a sea of short dresses. Some have even interpreted the bold outfits as a feminist statement.

In effect, Rose and Chyna used their VMA red carpet walk to take back the words used against them in the past. And that’s a statement we can get behind.

However, being that we’re talking about Amber Rose, the slander on the Internet is real.

Check out their outfits below, and the reactions (they also have plenty of supporters) on the flip.

Tyga’s Alleged Transgender Mistress Issues A Statement, Outed As An Escort? [Photos]

While Tyga is taking legal action against the culprit who leaked his genitals all across the Internet, his alleged transgender mistress, Mia Isabella, is breaking her silence for everything that’s being hurled her way. Earlier in the week, it was heavily rumored that the porn star was seeing the Young Money rapper at the same time as his current girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

Isabella recently released a statement to VH1 (hmmm…reality show on the horizon?) to defend her character but not really debunk the allegations that set the Internet ablaze.

10 Male Celebrities Accused Of Loving On Transgender Females

It’s very sad that the idea of a man loving a trans person has to be considered a scandal when all people are equal – love always wins doesn’t it? I live in a world in my mind where everything is a fairy tale of love. Saddening to see small-minded thoughts travel so quickly like wildfire not knowing if its true or not. It’s like wave crashing over me washing over me to see masses of humanity rise with pitch forks blindly following. Are we not all equal? Am I not an American with the right to love and live as I choose with whoever I choose? If a celebrated man loves a transgender woman or possibly did that’s news? It shouldn’t be news it should be normal for anyone and everyone to be allowed to love who they choose. This person is not the man that I love but I have loved a few incredible and celebrated men in my life. I live my live in the open courageous and brave in my truth. I’ve been blessed to live in a time where my freedom has allowed me to create the woman I am today in my own image. If only everyone could be so brave. Unconditional love is godlike spreading hate simply a set back for humanity itself.

Just so we’re clear, she and Tyga “were in love” before Kylie? The bigger scandal was indeed Tyga’s supposed cheating ways but Hip-Hop Wired has gotten reports that Mia Isabella allegedly isn’t exactly the LGBT champion she’s claiming to be.

According to Proxy Public Relations, the adult actress goes by many names (Michael Levelle Davis, Jr. aka Michelle Levelle Davis aka Michele Levelle Davis aka Mia Michelle) and has posted her “services” on in the state of Washington. PPR also accuses Tyga’s baby mama Blac Chyna and celebrity publicist Gina Rodriguez for being involved in the caper.

Flip through the gallery below to see the photo evidence against Mia Isabella’s character.

Joan Jett Issues Statement On Runaways’ Jackie Fox Rape Allegations

Joan Jett, iconic rock star and former member of the all-female band the Runaways, said she was unaware her bandmate was raped by manager Kim Fowley 40 years ago.

Jett spoke out in a Facebook post Friday night, her first public comments since HuffPost reported former bassist Jacqueline Fuchs’ account of being attacked at age of 16. Fuchs said Jett was present during the assault.

“Anyone who truly knows me understands that if I was aware of a friend or bandmate being violated, I would not stand by while it happened.” Jett, who still performs with the Blackhearts, wrote on Facebook. “For a group of young teenagers thrust into ’70s rock stardom there were relationships that were bizarre, but I was not aware of this incident. Obviously Jackie’s story is extremely upsetting and although we haven’t spoken in decades, I wish her peace and healing.”

Fuchs, who played bass for the Runaways from 1975 to 1977 under the name of Jackie Fox, revealed to HuffPost’s Jason Cherkis that she was drugged at a New Year’s Eve party during her time with the band, and was raped by band manager and music industry heavyweight Kim Fowley. The claim was corroborated by several witnesses, including former Runaway lyricist Kari Krome. Fuchs had never spoken publicly about the attack before HuffPost’s report, published on Wednesday.

Fuchs said the rape took place in a California hotel room in the presence of bandmates Jett and Cherie Currie, along with numerous other partygoers. Fuchs said she had been given a Quaalude and was brutally violated by Fowley as she slipped in and out of consciousness.

“I can’t move. I can’t speak. All I can do is look him in the eye and do the best I can do to communicate: Please say no,” Fuchs recounted. “I don’t know what it looked like from the outside. But I know what was going on inside and it was horror.” She last remembered looking up to see Jett and Currie staring at her.

Brent Williams, who was also present in the hotel room, told HuffPost that he was asked by Jett to deny witnessing anything if contacted by lawyers.

Jett had denied “witnessing the event as it has been described here,” when presented with HuffPost’s reporting prior to the article’s publication. Her representative referred further questions to Fuchs, “as it’s a matter involving her and she can speak for herself.”

Fowley, who died in January, had been accused of assault by numerous women, some in their teens at the time. He was openly attracted to teenagers and vulnerable females: “I’m like a shark. I’ll smell the blood,” he said of himself. Former Runaway singer Cherie Currie described him as “a beast [who] should not be allowed near young girls.”

“It was the abuse from Kim Fowley and our roadies that was so hard to take. We got such abuse on a daily basis,” Currie told The Guardian in 2010. In her memoir, Currie wrote of Fowley having sex with a women in front of the band.

Kari Krome, a former Runaway who claimed to have witnessed the rape of Fuchs, revealed to HuffPost that Fowley assaulted her at his apartment, and a fan backstage at a 1975 show.

Fowley denied ever sexually assaulting any of the Runaways. “They can talk about it until the cows come home but, in my mind, I didn’t make love to anybody in the Runaways nor did they make love to me,” he said in a 2013 biography of the band, according to Yahoo News.  He was never charged in any of the alleged assaults.

Fuchs said she was inspired to break 40 years of silence after seeing other high-profile sexual assaults made public, such as claims against Bill Cosby.

Kathy Valentine, formerly of the groundbreaking all-female band the Go-Go’s, expressed support for Fuchs. “Jackie is incredibly brave for finally speaking out about this. I told her, and I will say it here too: she has done FAR more for women by speaking out than the Runaways ever did,” Valentine wrote on Facebook. Valentine said she understood why witnesses remained quiet immediately after the assault, writing, “They were glad it wasn’t them. He was their ticket to being rock stars, touring, recording — living their dream. They thought this was part of rock and roll, that she got this messed up, too bad for her.”

Read the full HuffPost report on Fuchs’ story here.

Rihanna Makes a Case for the Statement Minidress

Is there anything Rihanna can’t wear? We’ve seen her stun on the Met Gala red carpet in Chinese couture and turn heads on the street by accessorizing sweatpants with Dior, and now the fashion in her daring new video has captured everyone’s attention.

Debuting “Bitch Better Have My Money” music video at a fan event cohosted by Tidal, the 27-year-old stepped out in a thigh-grazing silhouette pulled straight out of Cher Horowitz’s wardrobe. And while it wasn’t quite as provocative as the sheer latex mini she wears at the end of the video, the frayed hems and graffiti patchwork made for a scene-stealing look.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Bronze Lids and Fuchsia Lips: Why a Statement Coat Calls for Statement Makeup

Jennifer Lawrence beauty

After giving a nod to the seventies with a suede fringe bag yesterday afternoon, Jennifer Lawrence skipped ahead to the eighties last night. Spotted at a performance of The Elephant Man on Broadway, the actress helped her leopard-print jacket realize its full potential with a flash of hot pink lipstick and gleaming bronze lids. Glowing skin and a wash of cream highlighter blended along her cheekbones kept things fresh, while her signature chin-length waves felt as modern and casual as her varsity sweater. The verdict? Win-win.
