Vera Wang To Launch Bridal Jewelry With Chow Tai Fook

SHANGHAI–Bridal doyenne Vera Wang is expanding her universe again, linking up this time with Hong Kong-headquartered Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group to produce a fine jewelry collection to cater to the modern Chinese bride.
“Vera Wang Love” will debut on Oct. 19 in Chow Tai Fook Shanghai stores before expanding to other key cities including Beijing, Chengdu, and Hong Kong. It builds on top of her existing offerings in the space via “Simply Vera Vera Wang” jewelry, as well as deals for homeware, and her core ready-to-wear and gowns business.
The collection will span 18K gold and platinum engagement rings, as well as wedding bands and fine fashion jewelry, with a starting price point of about $ 400.
Traditionally speaking, gold and jade usually adorn brides in China but the two sides said couples in greater numbers are starting to “incorporate diamond jewelry into traditional engagements.”
Wang has found a powerful partner in Chow Tai Fook, one of the world’s largest jewelers with nearing 3,000 points of sale across China. The group’s other brands include Chow Tai Fook T Mark, Hearts On Fire, Monologue, and SOINLOVE.
Vera Wang counts three boutiques in Mainland China–in Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu.

Vera Wang Suits Up Eagles Cheerleaders for Super Bowl Showdown With Patriots

DESIGNER SIDELINES: While some advertisers will be forking over $ 5 million for 30-second Super Bowl commercials, Vera Wang will be getting some air time for free.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ cheerleaders will be rallying for Nick Foles and the rest of the team wearing uniforms created by the New York designer. In 2003, Wang became the first big-name designer to suit up a NFL cheerleading squad. No slouch in the athletic department, Wang herself was a competitive skater before she segued into fashion. Through the years, Wang has suited up all sorts of elite athletes — Nancy Kerrigan, Michelle Kwan and Evan Lysacek among them. At this month’s Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, the undefeated U.S. figure skater Nathan Chen will hit the ice wearing costumes designed by Wang. “I have always been an athlete, a supporter of so many disciplines, a true fan, and very proud and humbled by having dressed so many athletes in competition and for many of their weddings and red carpet moments!‎” she said.
Considering 111 million tuned in for last year’s Super Bowl, Wang’s uniforms are set to be seen worldwide. “Whenever one designs for athletes, or performers, being viewed from 360-degree angles becomes imperative. But TV adds

Vera Wang Celebrates Chinese Heritage and American Upbringing at China Institute’s Blue Cloud Gala

BIG IN CHINA: Vera Wang and Ron Perelman were among the honorees at the China Institute’s annual Blue Cloud gala Thursday night.

Ltd. were also honored, as well as New York Gov. Andrew Coumo, who wasn’t able to attend the black tie dinner.
Beforehand, China Institute chairman Chien Chung Pei, better known as “Didi,” said of the honorees, “They share the spirit and mission of China Institute to shape positive and strong U.S.-China relations through education, culture and business.”
Derek Lam also turned up to support Wang. She later told the crowd how growing up in the U.S., her parents Cheng Ching and Florence Wang encouraged her to embrace American culture, never allowing her to forget her Chinese heritage. That delicate balance was what provided her and her brother “with such a unique view of the world and a sincere appreciation for both cultures,” she said.

Michelle Obama Wows In Black Vera Wang Dress At State Dinner

Michelle Obama made a jaw-dropping appearance alongside President Barack Obama as they welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to the White House for the State Dinner on Friday. Dressed in a custom, off-the-shoulder black Vera Wang gown, FLOTUS’ famously-toned arms were on full display.

She first teased her glamorous evening attire on Instagram while giving us a “first glance” at the State Dinner. Even though the photo was taken in a dimly lit dining room, we were still able to see Obama’s stunning side-swept curls and nude nail polish color.

This isn’t the first time that FLOTUS has worn the Chinese-American designer’s pieces for a major fête, as she donned a similar off-the-shoulder Wang dress at this year’s Kennedy Center Honors. Yet, the mermaid fit and tulle skirt of this State Dinner gown proves why she tops our list of the best-dressed first ladies.

Many are called… She alone can save the world and become Death's bride. COBWEB BRIDE (Cobweb Bride Trilogy, Book One) is a history-flavored fantasy novel with romantic elements of the Persephone myth, about Death's ultimatum to the world. What if you killed someone and then fell in love with them? In an alternate Renaissance world, somewhere in an imaginary "pocket" of Europe called the Kingdom of Lethe, Death comes, in the form of a grim Spaniard, to claim his Bride. Until she is found, in a single time-stopping moment all dying stops. There is no relief for the mortally wounded and the terminally ill…. Covered in white cobwebs of a thousand snow spiders she lies in the darkness… Her skin is cold as snow… Her eyes frozen… Her gaze, fiercely alive… While kings and emperors send expeditions to search for a suitable Bride for Death, armies of the undead wage an endless war… A black knight roams the forest at the command of his undead father… Spies and political treacheries abound at the imperial Silver Court…. Murdered lovers find themselves locked in the realm of the living… Look closer — through the cobweb filaments of her hair and along each strand shine stars… And one small village girl, Percy—an unwanted, ungainly middle daughter—is faced with the responsibility of granting her dying grandmother the desperate release she needs. As a result, Percy joins the crowds of other young women of the land in a desperate quest to Death's own mysterious holding in the deepest forests of the North… And everyone is trying to stop her.

You have two options. You die, or you Qualify. The year is 2047. An extinction-level asteroid is hurtling toward Earth, and the descendants of ancient Atlantis have returned from the stars in their silver ships to offer humanity help. But there's a catch. They can only take a tiny percent of the Earth's population back to the colony planet Atlantis. And in order to be chosen, you must be a teen, you must be bright, talented, and athletic, and you must Qualify. Sixteen-year-old Gwenevere Lark is determined not only to Qualify but to rescue her entire family. Because there's a loophole. If you are good enough to Qualify, you are eligible to compete in the brutal games of the Atlantis Grail, which grants all winners the laurels, high tech luxuries, and full privileges of Atlantis Citizenship. And if you are in the Top Ten, then all your wildest wishes are granted… Such as curing your mother's cancer. There is only one problem. Gwen Lark is known as a klutz and a nerd. While she's a hotshot in classics, history, science, and languages, the closest she's come to sports is a backyard pool and a skateboard. This time she is in over her head, and in for a fight of her life, against impossible odds and world-class competition–including Logan Sangre, the most amazing guy in her school, the one she's been crushing on, and who doesn't seem to know she exists. Because every other teen on Earth has the same idea. You Qualify or you die.

Olympic Skater Evan Lysacek Consulting for Vera Wang

STRICTLY BUSINESS: Five years after Vera Wang designed Olympic attire for American figure skater Evan Lysacek, the designer has enlisted him as a creative consultant for her company. The 30-year-old Chicago native hung up his skates some time ago and moved to New York last fall to work for Charter Realty & Development. As of Wednesday, his bio and photograph were still on the company’s Web site. Lysacek’s online biography notes that he headlined two national and one worldwide tour with “Smucker’s Stars on Ice” and also has worked closely with longtime sponsors Ralph Lauren, Procter & Gamble, Crest, Citi, Smuckers, Coca-Cola and Deloitte.
The former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant befriended Wang, an accomplished skater at the junior level, after she suited him up for the Vancouver Winter Games. Several years ago, Lysacek spent a few days trailing Wang as she put the finishing touches on one of her spring collections. “I’ve learned quite a bit through Vera,” he said at that time. “It’s really interesting to see what goes into a collection. That kind of creativity is extremely important, especially now in a world that is less about money. People can set themselves apart by the clothes they choose
