The Unbreakable Moments Series: “You Can Be a Dad and Still Have Style”

Eric Wertz: The Ideal Watch for a Very Busy Man

Eric Wertz shoots his cuff and glances at the stark, black-and-gray G-STEEL on his wrist. “The watch has a tough, masculine vibe to it,” he says, “which I like.”

Eric is a man who knows style. His blog, Blue Collar Prep, garners thousands of visitors a month, and his Instagram feed has amassed 45,000 followers. “I can wear this watch with just about anything,” he adds, “but my first idea was to pair it with a black leather jacket. A simple fit, topped off with this G-STEEL—a clean, easy look for any guy to pull off.”

Eric loves the G-SHOCK because he can wear it during his day job as an electrician—the Bluetooth capability allows Eric to connect the watch to his smartphone, so he’s never late for his many appointments. Then, when his working day is done, he moves to a more polished look—and the G-STEEL makes the transition easily. In short, the watch fits Eric. “Fit is everything,” he says. “As soon as I put a piece on, I can tell if it’s going to be a wardrobe staple for me.”

Eric pauses, letting his innate assurance speak for itself. “Wear what makes you feel comfortable. Comfort evokes confidence.”

“You Can Be a Dad and Still Have Style”

On paper, Eric Wertz doesn’t fit the profile of a men’s style expert. He doesn’t reside in a loft in Tribeca, nor does he frequent trendy nightclubs. After long days of working full-time as a union electrician in the Hudson River Valley, he can be found at home with his wife Sarina (“an amazingly smart, beautiful and creative woman”) and his son Nate, “the coolest person” he knows.

Yet, despite his low-key existence, Eric has established himself as a prominent voice in the world of men’s fashion. And he couldn’t be happier. “I love that I can use these platforms to try and break stereotypes about dads. You can be a dad and still have style.” And the G-STEEL, he notes, is perfectly suited to his personal blend of reliability, confidence and style.

“Comfort and Durability, Above All”

Examining the G-STEEL’s durable carbon bezel, Eric notes, “Carbon fiber is a unique material to see in a watch.” And the G-STEEL is solar-powered and features superb 200m water resistance, meaning Eric won’t have to baby his timepiece during one of his frequent family excursions to the beach. But these aren’t the only G-STEEL capabilities that get Eric excited. “The phone finder function!” He chuckles. “I’m constantly putting my phone down and can never find it. Now I can.”

As a frequent traveler, Eric is also a fan of the G-SHOCK’s time-swapping capability, which allows him to keep track of local time while knowing the hour back home. Through the G-STEEL’s Bluetooth connectivity, Eric can manipulate the watch, changing it to show the time for any of approximately 300 cities worldwide—a must for a man who regularly communicates with designers in Europe and Asia.

Ultimately, Eric sees his style—and his G-STEEL—as part of a legacy. “Timepieces are an investment. I wanted a watch that’s going to last, one I don’t have to baby. I also look at watches as one of the rare accessories that you can have for a lifetime. It’s a piece you can hand down to your kids.”

Watch Out, Sephora. H&M Beauty Is Coming For You.

When we first heard that H&M was launching a beauty line, we pictured the check-out counters of the Swedish retailer being updated with a few makeup basics. As in, stacks of lipstick, eyeshadow and nail polish in the typical red, pink and nude shades. Oh were we wrong!

The new beauty line recently debuted in 900 stores worldwide and online, with over 700 products to fulfill just about every cosmetic, haircare and skincare need. We’re talking velvety eyeshadows in matte, shimmer and metallic finishes, over 160 nail polish colors with cheeky names such as Lifejacket and rich body creams loaded with hydrating ingredients like shea butter and vitamin E

The fast-fashion retailer has established a cult following thanks to their basic tees and trendy designer collaborations. H&M Beauty concept designer Sara Wallander said in a press release that the new line was “an opportunity to be inventive and creative, and to have fun with colors.”

Everything is priced under $ 25, and H&M definitely didn’t hold back when it came to offering beauty products with rich pigments, long-lasting formulas and sophisticated packaging. And it’s all displayed atop sleek beauty stations that rival Sephora’s, enticing beauty mavens and mavericks to touch, try and buy it all.

Want to know what’s worth fighting for in the H&M Beauty department? Check out our top five editors’ picks below!

Who says goons don’t care about God? Plies refutes those kind of proclamations with the visuals to his confessional cut “Checkin On You” off his latest release, Ain’t No Mixtape Bih.

Surrounded by so many religious articles that the only thing missing was the the gun-toting priest from Young Thug’s “Again” video, Plies’ prayer turns out to be more of a confirmation of his blessings than a request for guidance as he asks the good Lord if he’s okay like a real homie would.

And yesterday it was Styles P, today it’s Sheek Louch – is Jadakiss gonna bless the L-O-X faithful with new material to end the week? We’ll see, but for today the big man of the Lox marks the anniversary of the release of The Clipse’s debut album, Lord Willin’, and pays homage to the Virginia twosome by kicking a hard as rocks freestyle over their “Got Damn” instrumental and having the visuals take place in the hometown of the dope duo.

Check out the rest of today’s releases which include work from T-Pain, Machine Gun Kelly, and more.

Hey, Nightlife. It’s Not You. It’s Me.

Dear long nights and irrationally expensive tabs,

“If you love somebody, let them go.”

It’s not you, it’s me. I love my couch too much. I love the way my Blu-ray sparkles in the living room light. I love how I have my very own food court just feet away. Is it heaven? No, it’s my house. So, I guess yes. Yes it is.

I apologize if this has caught you off guard, if this appears to be a shock, I know we have had a solid relationship over the years – that one time after prom, those moments in college, the times when I’ve attempted to be social as an adult. Really, you’ve been great. More than great, in fact. You’ve taught me how to stay calm in tense situations. You’ve taught me how to conquer uncomfortable situations. You’ve taught me how to deal with inconsiderate houseguests. You’ve taught me that it is possible to spend that much money on Taco Bell. But I feel as if we’re growing apart, I feel as if you’re not invested in our relationship – that you’re not meeting me half way.

I don’t want to make this a big deal…On a scale of sleeping through an alarm to the possibility of Donald Trump being president, it’s probably a ‘the waiter got my order wrong at a restaurant’ type of thing. I just feel like honesty is the best way to go. So, here it is.

My issue starts even before “going out.” Pregaming is stressful (but necessary). I have to make a playlist? Then get judged on every song? No thanks. Oh, you’re bringing a +1? This isn’t an effing wedding. I don’t want to meet any new people.

Fast forward…looks like the pregame is over, please leave everything for me to clean up in the morning, I love that and it gives my life meaning! Now go have fun while I stay and lock up. And there’s more. Then the night actually begins. OK not so fast – one of your friends has to stay back with your other friend who is crying for some stupid reason.

Continuing on.

I’m sick of the long lines. I mean, what the f*ck? I don’t want to feel like I’m at Disney World every time I want to buy a drink. Also, what’s up with making me run into people from my past who I clearly don’t want to see? It’s like A Christmas Carol but with my exes. I HATE that. I mean, I reallllyy hate that.

And the small talk? God-awful. How can I concentrate on singing along to Ed Sheeran when I have to pretend like I care about what others are saying?

What twisted soul came up with the idea of a bar anyways? “Do you like strangers? Do you like standing awkwardly close to those strangers? And also paying money for things? And spending half the night deciding how to split the cab fare? Great! You’re going to love it here.”

That’s why I found a new, cool, progressive bar. It’s called my house. Everything is free, you are encouraged to wear sweatpants, only people I like are allowed in, there are unlimited movies, there’s a dog somewhere, you won’t lose your wallet every. frickin. night, and there are (literally) tubs of ice cream. Did I mention there is a cute dog that runs around? Oh, and beds are within walking distance, so you can get your steps in. Did I just change the party scene forever? You’re welcome.

What I’m trying to say is that there’s still hope for us, but if you want to make this work I’m going to need to see some effort. The least you could do is play some good music, not that top 40 B.S. Regardless of what happens we should totally stay friends, though. Ya know?

With sincerity (and in sweatpants),
Someone who is over “it”

‘Not All Mommies Love Their Babies The Way I Love You’

It happened a few weeks ago when we were all in the car. The kids sat in the back talking about Wario and how his farts could KO an opponent. (Yes, my children play way too much Nintendo Smash Bros. And no, I have no idea if Wario can actually KO with flatulence alone… and I’m not sure if I want to.) My husband and I were in the front listening to NPR. They were talking about the Duggar family, specifically Josh Duggar and his admission of guilt to the molestation charges against him. Everything about the made (makes) me furious: The focus on the perpetrator and not his victims; the fact that the perpetrator in question was the executive director of the FRC’s lobbying group, the “Family” Research Council — the organization that prides itself in perpetuating lies and hate about gay people. Gay people like my oldest son. The one, with his brothers, providing the snorting laughter soundtrack to the news and my fury.

“I hope none of those kids are gay,” I said quietly, thinking of the 19 Duggar children.

My husband put his hand on my knee. “I know. Me too.”

“Who do you hope isn’t gay?” my oldest son asked.

If you don’t have children, you might not know that selective hearing is a real thing. When I tell my children to pick up their socks and put them down the chute, I get no response. When I announce it’s time for bed, nothing. When I tell them eating their vegetables is not optional, nada. But when I hit my funny bone on the counter in an empty kitchen and say “Fuck!” under my breath, instantly, a little boy voice from the other side of the house will holler, “Mom said a bad word! The really bad one!” The traitorous little monsters.

I sighed. Damned selective hearing. I didn’t want to have this conversation. Not again. I’ve talked to my son a number of times about how there are people who don’t like gay people. It’s a matter of safety and security. No matter how much his own life is full of rainbow advocates, he needs to know about the real world. So, I fight against that maternal instinct that makes me want to wrap him in breathable bubble wrap and protect him from all the bad parts of the world, and I grit my teeth and tell him. And although he nods gravely in all the right places, I don’t think he really believes me. It’s just not his world.

“There is this family,” I said, “and they have a whole lot of kids, but they believe in God and Jesus in way that makes them think being gay is bad and wrong. I don’t want any of their kids to be gay because it would be really hard for them in that family.”

“But that doesn’t matter,” he states in that my-mother-is-the-stupidest-person-in-the-world voice. “If they’re gay, it doesn’t matter what they think.”

And I sigh again. Because he is right. I would love it if gay kids were only born to parents who love and celebrate them, but that’s not what happens.

“Some parents get sad and angry when their kids are gay. They have a really hard time with it.”

“Yeah,” he said, “but why is it hard?”

I struggled. “Not all mommies love their babies the way I love you.”

“Like your mom?” he asked.

And my heart stopped. I was thrown back to the last time I had heard myself say those words. We were in the car again, over five years ago. My son was in kindergarten and obsessed with the relationships of everyone in his life.

“Grandma and Grandpa are Daddy’s mommy and daddy. Uncle Harold is your brother, and Papa is your daddy,” he recited to me then paused. “And you don’t have a mommy.”

His words struck me. The cold hard truth of them chilled me. My mother is not part of our lives. It was a tough decision, but one I had to make for my children and myself. I no longer have a relationship with her, and neither do my kids.

“I do have a mommy, but we don’t see her.”

“Why not?”

“Well,” I started and stopped, not knowing how to explain mental illness to my 5-year-old. “Not all mommies love their babies the way I love you.”

Back in the present day, I was silent for a few moments. “Yeah,” I finally said, my voice thick, “kind of like that.”

“Your mom hurt you,” he said.

“Yeah, she did.”

“She hurt your heart and made you cry.”

I turned around to look at him, and in his eyes was a depth that went well beyond the short decade he’s lived. I nodded. “Yes, she did.” I then looked at my middle son and saw his huge hazel eyes swimming with tears. I took his little hand in mine and squeezed it. “I love you,” I said looking straight into his watery gaze. I turned to our youngest, quiet in the back seat. “I love you,” I said to him.

“I love you, too, Mama,” he smiled back at me, not a care in the world.

And then I turned back to my oldest. “I love you.”

He looked at me in silence for a minute. “I know.” And for the first time, I could tell he understood.

Sometimes people ask me if it is hard having a gay kid. Having kids is hard. No matter the kids, no matter the parents, raising children is really, really hard. But my kid being gay isn’t even on the top of the list of the things that worry me the most. I talk to teachers more about my middle son being bullied for being a nerd. I put more mental effort toward helping my oldest son with his learning disability. I spend more hours wondering if my youngest will ever regularly sleep through the night. I put more effort on all of those things than I do having a gay kid. My kid, all my kids, are awesome and beautiful and crazy and frustrating. They are my kids. That’s the way it is supposed to be. I am their mother and I love them. That’s the way it is supposed to be.

The toughest conversation I ever had with them was that one right there. In the car, what started with undirected anger at a stranger and religious hate and ended with explaining to my children that I know, really know, what it is like when something other than love guides mothering. And seeing that they understood. I don’t want them to understand things like that. But that’s not the world we live in.

People use all kinds of excuses to not love their children, not the way they deserve to be loved. And none of them are OK.

Whoopi Goldberg Slams Duggars For Hypocrisy: ‘You’re Not Forgiving Of People Who Feel Differently Than You’

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar broke their silence this week about son Josh’s confessed sexual molestation of his sisters — and women of “The View” were having none of it.

Talk show co-host Whoopi Goldberg was the most full-throated in her rebuke of the “19 Kids And Counting” parents on Thursday, the morning after the Duggars had taken to Fox News’ “The Kelly File” to defend their son, who molested five girls when he was a teen, and their own handling of the situation.

“You brought God up, so it makes it OK to say this,” Goldberg said of the Duggar patriarch pleading for forgiveness for his oldest son. “You’re not forgiving of people. You’re not forgiving of people who feel differently than you.”

“Don’t bring up God … and talk about God forgiving people when you don’t have forgiveness in their own hearts,” Goldberg added.

The Duggars have a history of supporting anti-LGBT causes. Last fall, Michelle Duggar recorded a robocall to voters in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in which she protested a local anti-discrimination ordinance. As part of her argument, she linked transgender individuals to child predators.

“The View” co-host Nicole Wallace echoed Goldberg, saying the Duggar mother had acted hypocritically.

“When you say God will forgive my son who molested my daughters, if that’s your world view, if that’s how you got through it, OK,” Wallace said. “But you can’t say God can’t forgive a transgender person.”

“If God can forgive [Josh], then I hope other people can realize that God can forgive them,” Jim Bob Duggar had told “The Kelly File” host Megyn Kelly.

Duggar also argued that his son, now 27, was not a pedophile because he was also underage at the time of the molestations.

“It was a child preying on a child,” Duggar said of his son’s actions.

“There was so much grief in our hearts. I think, as parents, we felt, ‘We’re failures,'” Michelle Duggar said during the Kelly interview. “We’ve tried to raise our kids to do what’s right, to know what’s right, and yet one of our children made some really bad choices. And I think, as a parent, just — we were devastated.”

Metallica’s James Hetfield & Daughter Cali Cover Adele’s ‘Crazy For You’

Metallica frontman James Hetfield treated the audience at a benefit concert on Friday night to a very special guest: his daughter, who proceeded to wow the crowd as they put their own spin on Adele’s “Crazy for You.”

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because 16-year-old Cali Hetfield has a powerful set of pipes. Check it out in the fan-shot video above, and be sure to look for the proud papa smiling and nodding along as his daughter sings. (You can view the performance from another angle here.)

The two performed at the “Acoustic-4-A-Cure” benefit for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Acoustic-4-A-Cure was created by Hetfield and singer Sammy Hagar, who acted as emcee and performed a few numbers of his own including “The Thrill Is Gone” in tribute to B.B. King, who died last week at the age of 89, and “Somebody to Love” with Linda Perry.

Other highlights of the concert include Hetfield performing Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” with Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains. Cantrell also performed Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.” Comic/actor Adam Sandler joined Patrick Monahan of Train and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers for Aerosmith’s “Dream On,” and Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On.”

‘You Don’t Look Like a Mom’

Many times a week, mostly at work, I get the comment, “You don’t look like a mom!!!”

There are different variations:

“You look like you’re in high school!”

“You’ve got THREE BOYS!?!?!?!???”

“But you always look so together!”

“But you look so nice!???”

While I choose to take these comments as compliments, they make me wonder… What is it that a mom looks like, exactly?

Is she frazzled and haggard with bags the size of Texas under her eyes? Is she rushed and stressed, with spit-up running down her yoga pants and breast milk oozing through her hole-y T-shirt? Is she running around like a chicken with her head cut off, or dragging her exhausted body around like yesterday’s trash?

What is it that a mom really looks like?

Is she disheveled and worn, with babies wrapped all over her body like little leeches? Is she un-showered and smelly, with dirt in her fingernails and boogers crusted in her hair? Is the only makeup on her face caked-on face paint from last week’s crafts project?

What does a mom look like to the world?

Now, let me be the first to tell you that in my stay-at-home mom days and on the weekends, I precisely match that familiar image of what a mom looks like. And there are so many reasons why that’s OK.

Come Friday night at 6 p.m., I’m rocking the mom look all weekend long, baby! The blouse is traded for a comfy T-shirt, the slacks are swapped for my old faithful yoga pants and the heels are tossed away for… wait for it… CROCS! Or tennis shoes. It depends on if I’m adding in a layer of sweat from a workout or not.

But by 4:30 a.m. Monday morning, I’ve got no choice but to bust out my real human being clothes. I have to shower and wash the grease from my hair. I have to find something to wear that doesn’t have marks of motherhood all over it, though I wear them proudly. I have to put the Crocs away and get out my big girl shoes.

And I like it.

It’s kind of cool to be forced into taking care of myself for the benefit of those who have to smell me.

I do take pride in the way I dress and present myself. Always have… mom or not. But sometimes, these “You don’t look like a mom” statements throw me for a loop.

Some of the comments I get come with an expression of complimentary shock, awe and wonder, while others are dripping in an almost palpable disdain. I once had a woman look me up and down like Regina George and say, “Well, I know I didn’t look like that when I had young kids! You look so put together!”

While it tried to be a compliment, it wasn’t. It was a cutting, back-handed mommy war comment dressed in lace.

I pretended not to notice her expression and disgusted, mean-mom-soaked tone. I smiled at her and said, “Well, thank you, but trust me, I don’t always look together and it’s really just a ruse. I’m a mess under these clothes.” I tried to level the playing field we apparently stood on, unbeknownst to me, and remind her that despite my real clothes, I’m still just a messy mom like everyone else.

But it’s kind of sad, isn’t it? This need to defend ourselves for looking decent, or not screaming to the world, “I’m a mom!” with our haphazard appearances and diaper-bag-laden bodies.

The thing is, the answer to all of those questions is a resounding Yes! Moms do look like that! Often! And for good reason!

But believe it or not, moms can also look like human beings. They can squeeze in a shower every now and then, change their yoga pants to dress pants and slap on a little lipstick over last night’s spaghetti sauce before they dash into work or the PTA meeting. And trust me — or don’t — moms can even look kinda sexy sometimes!

Here’s the other thing: Moms are so much more than what they look like whatever day you happen to see them. And our babies couldn’t care less!

Now, my boys do prefer my hair down rather than up, but that’s just because they’re quirky! And they pay attention to the fact that I do look a little better when I’ve showered and done my hair than when I’m running on day four of dry shampoo and yesterday’s deodorant.

But I’m a mom no matter what I’m wearing, and it’s a title I will proudly scream to the world — whether in yoga pants or my business attire and a smile.

I’m a mom. And it’s OK with me if I look like one. I’m also happy to know I can occasionally pull off not “looking like a mom,” whatever that really means, while I’m in the public sphere.

But here’s what I propose: How about we celebrate each other. How about we put down our swords of insecurity and our misguided views of what we are supposed to look like, and we flaunt our momness to the world.

How about when we see the struggling mom in the grocery store with flailing, tantrum-ing children, an overflowing grocery cart and thinning resolve, we support her. How about when we see a woman who clearly takes care of herself AND is also a mom, we say, “Well done!”

How about when we look like a mom and our badges of motherhood are all blazing through, we throw up our hands and say, “I’m a dang superhero!” How about when we look good, and dare I say sexy, we don’t apologize for it?

Let’s join our sticky, motherhood-soaked hands together and remember that we are all just trying our best. Giving our best. Looking our best — whatever that is at each moment. We need each other, and all our babies need is us!

I do look like a mom. And so do you. And it’s a beautiful thing!

He Told His Boyfriend, ‘I Love You.’ His Boyfriend’s Response Brought Him to Tears. (VIDEO)

2015-03-19-1426778632-6898964-MichaelCoulter.jpg

I’m From Driftwood is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit archive for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer stories. New stories are posted on the site every Wednesday.

When Michael Coulter left Flint, Michigan, and went to college, he “met more gay people in one hour” than he had in his entire life. But there was one who caught his eye, and that boy would become his first love. Michael recalls:

The more we hung out, the more I was falling for him, just because no one had ever shown me that type of attention before. And from then on, I just felt like, “OK, this guy — he’s turning into my everything.” And I remember just pouring myself into him, and the more we were together, the more I was feeling for him and having these feelings of love for him.

As the school year continued, Michael’s feelings only grew stronger, and with summer break approaching, he felt like he was ready to share his feelings:

I was shaking in my boots, because I was like, “I have to say this. This is my moment. I have to get this out. I’m not going to see him again until the fall, so I have to say this.” So I looked him in the eye, and I said, “I love you.” And he looked me in the eye and said, “Aww, thank you.” And that was it. And I was crushed. And he basically just left. He was like, “OK, have a great summer.”

The relationship ended, and nothing was ever the same for them after that. Michael finished college and moved back home, awaiting his move to New York City. To his surprise, he met someone before leaving Flint and ended up in the exact same scenario he’d just been in, but with the roles reversed this time:

I could see in his eyes that he was developing these very, very intense feelings for me. And in my mind I was thinking about New York City. One night we were in his room on his floor, making out, when suddenly he just started crying, and he looked up at me, and he whispered — he couldn’t even say it fully — but he whispered, “I love you so much.”

Michael reflected on his previous experience and responded the way he thought he should:

[I]n my mind I was like, “Whoa.” And so I did not want him to feel that way at all; I didn’t want to put him through the pain that I felt, and so I said, “I love you too.”

MasterChef Recap: ‘You Have the Biggest Balls!”

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 5, Episode 6 of FOX’s MasterChef, titled “Top 16 Compete.”

How depressing! Canned food and stolen panna cotta have a moment this week. But let’s start from the beginning.

2014-07-02-mc5.jpg

The Mystery Box challenge really brought me back to my college days: making a stellar dish with unlabeled cans. A lot of the chefs wasted time opening all 52 of them and being boring; the top three stood out for being efficient, balanced, and interesting. I was pulling for Victoria who made some trendy meat fritters, but I think her canned artichokes didn’t hit the mark with the judges. Ahran proved her smarts (and now Joe B. is favoring her a little after her rant a few episodes back, don’t you think?) by using only one can of fruit cocktail to make a sponge cake with the staple box. The winner of the Mystery Box ended up being Elizabeth, though, who made a very ugly, but apparently tasty, borscht-like thing.

So be it. She goes into the pantry and into hardcore swoon mode because last year’s winner Luca and a MasterChef Junior champ Alexander are there. It’s not just for plugging Luca’s book and the MC brand. OK, it is. But Elizabeth gets to choose who makes whose signature dish. The little guy has a pristine panna cotta; the Italian, some saltimbocca on steroids. Elizabeth goes into it thinking of choosing those competitors who lack ‘finesse’ to make the dessert and those who have unrefined palettes the veal.

So, Willie is psyched out (and he has no idea what radicchio is). Courtney, as always, is majorly cocky. You have to hand it to the producers on that one, especially with shameless panning to her heels. And Elizabeth does a supreme job of acting excited about “hanging” with the MasterChef champs.

But then it gets interesting — someone steals Jamie’s third panna cotta from the fridge. Or accidentally grabs it thinking its their own. Poor, poor Tyler. In a panic, he grabbed the wrong ramekin. The good news is that Jamie’s third panna cotta also didn’t set right, so it’s not like she was really robbed.

The judges decide that rules are rules and you have to plate your own food. Ironic, coming from three restaurateurs known for their sneaky, cost cutting ways. Anyone read Joe B.’s book?

So, Willie was saved by a fluke. We’ll never get to see Tyler’s stewed squirrel. And Courtney wins the day.

Very anticlimactic and sort of upsetting, right? What did you think of this week’s competition? Let me know in the comments or @karenfratti.

“MasterChef” airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
